Oh I hate these things. Just left a comment and finally got logged in, and now it appears that I have to do the comment all over again.
Found our site from a link to Philip Gulley article. My parents’ bulletin had a blurb about him speaking at a Methodist church in Sioux City. When I called the pastor to ask if he knew of Gulley’s heresy, he just gave the old “love” song and dance, etc.

I have enjoyed reading your blogs. I love finding someone who believes the Bible as I do. It is really a simple book to understand when taken literally, but man wants to add to it so often. As Jacob Prasch says, “Religion has never gotten anyone to heaven, but it sure has kept a lot out!” I believe that the Word of God is the ultimate authority in every situation, and you seem to have a wonderful knowledge of this great book. Thanks for you posts.

Dr. Fred DeRuvo has it right in this well written article. Why do media/governments pander to the voice of Muslim groups to the detriment of Christians who are the ones subjected to persucution throughout the world? Look at the countless articles on the Barnabas Fund website or the Open doors website. These two ministries are full of documented evidence of Christophobia, namely, hatred directed towards the christian minority in the many lands mentioned. Have a look and be educated in the truth, regarding who are really being persecuted.

Shouldn’t U.S. Service Personnel and Veterans get back those Constitutional Rights that they die for and convicted rapists and murderers keep?

Convicted rapists and murderers are given protection from human experiments by the U.S. Constitution’s Bill of Rights, Amendment Eight. In 1992 the U.S. Senate signed and ratified the United Nation, International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR).[3] Its 1994 Index, “… Article 7 – Freedom from Torture, or Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment.” notes that, “Written policy and practice prohibit the use of” [prison] “inmates for medical…..experiments.”! Nineteen (19) times cited are the U.S. Constitution plus its Eighth Amendment’s no cruel and unusual punishment.

“The Feres Doctrine should not be applied for military personnel who are harmed by inappropriate human experimentation when informed consent has not been given.” Then, “During the last 50 years, hundreds of thousands of military personnel” were subjected to “experiments that were designed to harm”, i.e., the 1994 U.S. Senate Report’s biological and chemical agents, radiation exposure, hallucinogenic and investigational drugs, experimental vaccines and behavior modification projects.[5] In 2011 still ignored is this and their also noted past and present, “III. Findings and conclusions”, “K. DOD and DVA have repeatedly failed to provide information and medical followup to those who participate in military research…” and “N. Participation in military research is rarely included in military medical records, making it impossible to support a veteran’s claim for service-connected disabilities from military research.” This is the withheld needed for diagnosis and treatment but experiment identifying evidence. Underlying this Senate Report is the General Accounting Office (GAO) Sept. 1994 U.S. House Report, “Human Experimentation Overview on Cold War Era Programs”![4]

In the U.S. Supreme Court’s 1950 Feres case a death due to a 1947 Army barracks fire was determined to be an “incident to service”.[1] In the U.S. Supreme Court’s 1987 STANLEY a DOD 1958 “to harm” drug experiment is swept under the same cover of “injuries that `arise out of or are in the course of activity incident to service.”[2] FIFTY (50) TIMES it cites the Feres Doctrine. Not once mentioned is the U.S. Constitution’s Bill of Rights, Amendment Eight! Thereby, incidentally lost are those U.S. Constitutional Rights that convicted rapists and murders keep!
In 2005 some in Congress made an attempt to get the biological and chemical portion of this withheld needed for treatment evidence, e.g., H.R. 4259 the “Veterans’ Right to Know Commission.” It died! It is now a from 1944, 67 years of U.S. Congressional talk with no Feres Doctrine [1] and its STANLEY [2] “to harm” correction. During the 1994 reported past, hundreds of thousands of the “to harm” service records were destroyed in a 1973 National Personnel Records Center (NPRC) fire. Then Congress’s 1974 Privacy Act censored experiment verifying witnesses from any surviving and future records! Overlooked by many in Congress is their Oath of Office to defend the U.S. Constitution, our “Pledge of Allegiance” “with liberty and justice for all”, their U.S. Constitution Eighth Amendment protection of convicted rapists and murderers [3] with the U.S. Supreme Court’s ignored, carved in stone over its entrance, “EQUAL JUSTICE UNDER LAW”!

As in the GAO and U.S. Senate’s reported past, these “military research” [5] “incident to service” [1] activities are conducted under the ongoing secrecy cover of our ‘national interests’, e.g., WWII, Cold War, Korea, Vietnam, Gulf War, Iraq and Afghanistan. Do not the U.S. Senate’s stated Department of Defense (DOD) “EXPERIMENTS THAT WERE DESIGNED TO HARM” [5] continue? Please hold your members in the U.S. Congress accountable for giving back to those that serve their Constitutional Rights!

One preacher can speak a very heartfelt, biblical message that is well meaning and bible correct. People get baptized. His flock goes through sickness and death like the world does.He might even send them to doctors and psychologists when things get tough. Another preacher will pray over a sick person and they get healed in front of a whole congregation, then he preaches the gospel with integrity that came from above. The later has my attention. It’s just like Jesus did. The Adam and Eve story is one that was revealed to me. If you think about it and ask God, it’s plain that if we follow the Law, Christ is of no effect.

The problem is that for all the hype surrounding many of the so-called healings that occur today, few if any of them last. What that tells me is that Jesus was not there to heal because when He heals, it lasts. There is nothing in Scripture that indicates people are called to a healing ministry. The reason that Jesus, the apostles (and even the prophets) were able to heal was for the purpose of sanctifying the message they preached. The signs and wonders were presented as a means to verify that individual’s ministry.

Regarding the Adam and Eve story that you say was revealed to you, while I absolutely agree that if ALL we do is follow the law, Christ has no effect, the truth is that by following Christ, we actually wind up following the law. What I mean by that is this: the law was presented as a means to show that sin existed. Without the law (as Paul states) no one knows of sin. The law was also given to show that no person could completely follow the law in order to OBTAIN salvation. It was and is impossible. Jesus came to fulfill the law and by perfectly fulfilling it, He was able to provide Himself as a perfect propitiation for sin. In doing so, He also made salvation available for humanity, to all who believe.

So as a Christian, am I somehow no longer obligated to follow the law? Not at all. Being a Christian gives me the ability to follow the law, not for following the law’s sake, but because the law is holy, just, and right. For instance, because I am a Christian, I am not free to lust, kill, cheat, steal, lie, worship other gods, or anything else that the law prohibits. It is BECAUSE of the indwelling Holy Spirit, that I can now actually obey the law. I do NOT obey the law FOR salvation, as I already HAVE salvation. I obey the law because that is supposed to be the natural effect of being a Christian.

So while the Israelites in the OT often followed the law for the sake of following the law, they wound up going through the outward motions, yet their hearts were far from God. Today, a person can PRETEND outwardly to not be lusting after a woman for instance, yet inside that is exactly what they are doing. They may have fooled people, but not God.

Being a Christian does not exempt me from following the law, or doing what is right. It actually gives me the ABILITY to do what is right because of the indwelling Spirit, something I did not have prior to salvation.

God has raised up many individuals in this world who are absolutely and wonderfully gifted in the fields of medical science. To NOT take advantage of them because some believe it to be wrong and simply wait for God to heal a person is wrong, in my opinion. Where does the Bible teach that people will always be healed (without taking Scripture out of context)? God is under no obligation to heal anyone in this life and even if/when He does, people still die. Why? Because we are all in dying bodies with sin natures.

Adam and Eve KNEW that they were to obey God by ignoring the tree of knowledge of good and evil. They were told ahead of time what would occur if they disobeyed. When they CHOSE to believe Satan, they effectively called God a liar. Their rebellion began in their hearts and the outward action of eating the fruit was simply a symptom of their inner rebellion and sin. This is what James teaches that sin begins with the lusts of the heart. When it has grown into an outward action, death is the result.

God absolutely ALLOWED Adam and Even to sin, just as He allowed Lucifer to fall and take 1/3 of the angelic host with him in his rebellion. There is one MAIN overriding reason why God allowed all of that to happen and salvation is only part of the picture. Believe it or not, there is a greater reason than even salvation.

There is nothing wrong with going to the doctor at all. Even Paul told Timothy to have a little wine for his stomach (1 Timothy 5:23). Obviously, Timothy was dealing with stress and it was giving him an ulcer. Note that Paul did not pray for Timothy’s recovery or healing. He simply told him what to do medicinally.

There is a danger of chasing after signs and wonders thinking that this is how God works. I know a man who was healed of cancer of the blood. Initially, there was no hope of recovery because the disease was caused by a chromosome. Even if chemo completely cleared the person, the chromosome was still there and still creating cancerous cells. The chemo treated the symptom. Still, the church as a body continued to pray for this man as he underwent chemo and other radical treatments. Eventually, he was completely healed and the chromosome that caused the disease was gone. While we could argue that the same would have happened if we had simply prayed, we do not know that for sure, and I don’t believe God wants us to “test” Him either. We are to do what we know we should be doing while allowing God the freedom to work.

It could very well have been this young man’s time to die, but it wasn’t. We did not know that ahead of time, so we simply asked God to heal the young man. God chose to do that.

As Christians, I believe the greatest service we can offer to God is our will. At every step of the way, we are to submit ourselves to Him, gladly receiving HIS will for us. We are free to make requests, but it should always be done with “not my will, but thine.” There is no guarantee from Scripture that God will heal every time we ask.

My sister was on her death bed and I (along with many other people) prayed for recovery for days. I awoke one morning and tried to pray for the same thing again and simply could not do it. I could not ask Him in faith to heal my sister. I finally submitted myself and my desires to Him saying, “Lord, if it is my sister’s time to go to be with you, then so be it. You are God. You know all things. I pray though, that if it is her time to go, that she will be able to open her eyes so that we can connect one more time before you take her home.” Up to this point, she had been in a coma. To make a long story short, I was next to her bed in the hospital with her husband and their son. The nurse had just been in the room and showed me that there was absolutely NO brain activity (she was on a ventilator and other monitors). When the nurse gently opened her eyes and shined a flashlight in it, her pupil did absolutely NOTHING. In fact, her eyes were pointing downward into the bottom of her eyelids.

The nurse left and we decided to pray for her. As we prayed, I glanced up and my sister’s eyes were fluttering open. Then, they opened all the way and they focused on me – her pupils looked straight out at me and I could see them focusing. I was overjoyed, then I remembered what I had prayed. She was going home. It was her time, but the Lord in His graciousness answered my one prayer about her opening her eyes so we could connect.

I would encourage you not to follow after signs and wonders, which are merely one expression of God, but to follow wholeheartedly after God Himself, submitting yourself daily to Him, His Word, and His will.

What is healing anyway? We will all die. I do not find in Scripture anything that tells me there is a gift of “deliverance” or “healing” as a ministry. In fact, the greatest deliverance ministry is introducing people to Jesus so that they will be delivered from the kingdom of darkness to the wonderful Kingdom of Light in Christ. There is no greater deliverance than that.

Redding is a few hours from where I’m located. I have difficulties with the type of theology that is taught and perpetuated within and throughout the Vineyard movement. I believe God can certainly heal and I know that He has done so through prayer. I do not necessarily believe that He heals as often as He is said to have done so today.

People tend to put too much emphasis on this life. Our life here is but a vapor (Psalm 90; James 4). Compared to eternity, we are literally here today and gone tomorrow. While I definitely appreciate the many blessings we have in the here and now (salvation being chief among them), the reality is that we will all die and it will be only at that point when we will be able to worship in actual spirit and truth. At that point, our sin nature will be completely eradicated.

We are here as Christians to introduce people to Jesus and to submit daily to His will in and through us. When we begin to emphasize miracles, it can often become a sideshow (the Toronto Blessing, Holy Laughter, etc.) and actually detract from God by placing our eyes on events and acts, rather than on God Himself.

      These are just my opinions.

By the way, I read your blog on the Nazarene Doctrine and I’m not sure I’m following it. It seems as though you are saying on one hand that even though God told Adam and Eve not to eat of the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil, neither Adam nor Eve were able to make an informed decision based on what was right and what was wrong.

In one sense, Adam knew that to disobey God was wrong. He was even told ahead of time what the consequences would be. If neither Adam or Eve knew right from wrong, how would God be able to hold them accountable for their error?

No, but since you mentioned him, I did some research and if we are talking about the same individual, his theology follows that of the Vineyard. Apparently, the emphasis of his ministry is deliverance and healing.

Just curious, but why did you bring him up since I have written nothing about him on my blog?

    Dear Brother,

    Greetings

I am from Pakistan. I have studied your web site, and have found it to
be one of many wonderful sites offered on the internet which gets to the
Truth of the Word of God. As is the case with others whom I have
contacted, you have created material which is full of knowledge
concerning development of religious faith. Living in Pakistan, we
Christians face many obstacles in getting access to God’s Word. Most
people in Pakistan speak Urdu, and are not capable of understanding the
English language. Because of limited access in our native tongue, my
people have a true hunger for fresh Christian Perspectives.

Proficient in both English and my native languages, I would like to
offer my services as a translator to you. Presenting your material in
both Urdu and Punjabi would be a true blessing to the Pakistani and
Indian people. For a nominal fee, I will enable you to bring the message
of Salvation to a most deserving people.
Blessing you in advance for your consideration,

    Dear Fred,

I commend you for exposing Bill Slabaugh…another destroyer of the brethren. Thought you might be interested in my response to him.

What is tragic about this is that he touts the importance of Christian leaders credentials that he possesses such as having gone to seminary and being a pastor for so many years, which he could have and should have used to be a good watchman on the wall and clearly known from all of his training and study of Scripture how many false teachings are in Warren’s books, teachings, and programs. Christians ought to be able to trust their pastors to warn them about false teachers and shepherds. But because he and a host of other so-called pastors with credentials didn’t do their job, it was left to many good Bereans who are not pastors to do it, like Ray Yungen. But what does he do but attack the messengers for doing what he failed to do. His dereliction of duty and attacking those who really are defending the faith, renders him twice dead.

I publicly called him to repentance and appealed to him to make restitution to all of the saints that he has bullied. I have already publicly responded to his having borne false witness against me and warned the brethren.

    Kindest regards in Christ,

Here is my public response to Mr. Slabaugh:

Dear Pastor Kurt Staeubel, Pastor Dick Hege, & Elders and Members of Coeur D’Alene Bible Church,

I was informed by your webmaster that Bill Slabaugh is no longer your Senior Pastor and has moved to Emmett, Idaho. So he would no longer be subject to church discipline of your local church. However, for purposes of warning the sheep, his potential attempt to secure references of letters of recommendation from your church, and the church at large wherever he might go, and to the members of the Church at large who will purchase his book or hear him speak at a church or conference, I am biblically mandated to respond to his charges against me as well as my publisher Southwest Radio whom he has also falsely accused.

What follows, are the exact published words by Mr. Slabaugh me in his new book: The New Pharisaism:

    Here is his quote about me on page 146;

“It’s not that the Pharisee who derides another person should not be rebuked; rather their reaction to the rebuke reveals the true condition of the heart. Likewise, their reaction to a scriptural response reveals their true intent.

Lynda Graybeal of Renovaré found herself in the tenuous
The Tactics of the New Pharisaism ~ 146 ~ THE NEW PHARI S A I SM
    © 2010 Bill Slabaugh http://www.thenewpharisaism.com
position of having to respond to the relentless attack by pit bull Pharisaism. Even though she graciously and scripturally responded to the accusations, her response was taken apart line-by-line, shredded, and put back together in typical Pharisaical fashion to make her words mean what they wanted them to mean. I will not go into the wicked pharisaical details of the correspondence, but you may check the footnote if you would like to read it. 33

It’s not like the tactics of the New Pharisaism resemble spiritual blackmail because the Pharisees want everyone to know what they are doing. Nor is it like paying protection money to the spiritual mob bosses because the Pharisees seek the downfall of the ministry. It is very much like trying to rally the public to pick up their pitchforks and torches and join the witch hunt. One of the tragedies of our postmodern culture is that a person can maintain a good reputation until someone makes some kind of an accusation. Sadly, people who know the person well and thought of him or her as a person of integrity tend to believe the accusation; otherwise, why would the accusation even be made? You might remember Ray Donovan who was Secretary of Labor in the Reagan Administration. He was falsely accused of corruption by political opponents. After he was acquitted of any wrong doing he held a press conference. When asked how he felt about being exonerated and about the office that he had once held he responded, “Which office do I go to, to get my reputation back?” Once a ministries’ Just be prepared to feel soiled and dirtied if you pull up the webpage. It’s just one more example of the Pharisaical doublethink/doubletalk that attempts to dominate and control someone else’s ministry. And through their blogs and websites, they make sure that the Christian public is very much aware of the alleged evil.”

It was Lynda Grabeal that threatened me with legal action (i.e., lawsuit) for exposing simply what RIchard Foster was teaching and who he promoted….can’t help but wonder why she didn’t threaten Ray too? This is the Christian response of Lynda Graybeal, that Bill Slabaugh referred too. Note he never wrote a shred of proof that I did not tell the truth. So what is it I said about Richard Foster that was not true? So what am I supposed to do with a false teacher? Remain silent?
On the bottom of his website he states after his 2010 copyright:

“This copyright pertains to the entire Web Site. No portion may be duplicated in any way.”

He is apparently not familiar with copyright laws. First of all, if the copyright laws upheld what he states, no journalist could ever even cite him. Two, any statement he makes publicly (which he would have done by publishing his book) about any person, that person has ever right to PUBLICLY quote and refute to defend himself against libel and slander and can even legally sue him for false statements. Three, every Christian should biblically be able to be a good Berean to examine his teachings to see if they are true and be of God. If they aren’t, the Christian has every biblical mandate to expose him publicly before his own church and the church at large…the community at large for that matter.

In this regard, also please be apprised of my March 1 letter to Dr. Tim & Renee Rule, Directors of APHESIS GROUP.

    March 1, 2010

Dear Dr. Tim & Renee Rule,

This is a followup inquiry to my Feb 26 email to you. Please advise.

I just read that Bill Slabaugh, who indicates on his website that he is a group facilitator for APHESIS GROUP (is that your group?) on a new book by Bill Slabaugh entitled:

    The New Pharisaism:
How Spiritual Bullies Attack the Church
    http://www.thenewpharisaism.com/

in which he quotes from Margaret Jone’s book:

    Not of My Making
Bullying, Scapegoating and Misconduct in Mainline Churches
    By Margaret W. Jones, Ph.D.

I found it ironic that he attacks Southwest Radio and other ministries, because they published the very spiritual abuse of authority in churches he is accusing them of.

I found it also very disturbing that he works with you, yet promotes a website which has Deepak Chopra large banner at its head
    (see: http://www.overcomebullying.org/)

Deepak Chopra will lead any willing victim into the Abyss as Ray Yungen or Warren Smith, experts on the New Age would tell you, yet Mr. Slabaugh attacks Ray Yungen, an author with Lighthouse Trails who warns the church in his books about the infiltration of New Age teachings into the church. What is wrong with that?

Mr. Stabaugh touts and recommends Margaret Jones. Here is an interview on Baptist Deception in which she stated:

“For me what was significant was that the church had been the one safe place in my life.”

This is precisely what a host of Christians in Rick Warren’s Purpose-Driven Churches thought!

So I have written two books on Rick Warren and documented case after case of how he and his programs have destroyed Christian brothers and sisters as well as entire churches. I know, I and many other ministries get the SOS calls and letters of the devastation Rick Warren has left in his wake through his forced covenants and going after anyone whom he calls “resisters”. It is further ironic that Mr. Stabaugh would shoot messengers and call them the New Pharisees. The Apostle Paul condemned the Pharisees three times in Galatians because they were trying to put Christians back under the law and put them back into bondage. That is precisely what Rick Warren has done and why we had to expose him for the same kind of spiritual abuse and bondage. So to Mr. Slabaugh I would say as the Apostle Paul stated: “I am now therefore the enemy because I tell you the truth?” So how is it that Dr. Jones is exempt from Mr. Slabaugh’s charges for having warned us about her journey of spiritual abuse of leaders in the church, exactly what Dr. Noah Hutchings and I have done in our books published at Southwest Radio (swrc.com)?

The Bible commands us to sound the alarm on His Holy Hill and not remain silent in the face of iniquity.
That is what I and all of the ministries Mr. Slabaugh attacks are doing. He also attacks us for doing this for financial exploitation, yet he has no problem offering his book up for $. All this to find out that he too is a promoter of Rick Warren. So who is the true Pharisee (Hypocrite) here?

If Mr. Slabaugh wants to take out bullys in the church, he should have written a book on how to deal with one of the biggest bullys in the church today, that is Rick Warren. There are now at least a dozen books written by pastors, scholars and lay Christians who have been destroyed by this man. Does your ministry bring the Balm of Gilead to the host of destroyed brothers and sisters, who were simply defending the faith, left dismembered in the wake of Purpose Driven Global Peace Plan?

I know that Matthew 18 is constantly used to expel Christians…because they are not loyal to the leaders and convenants they signed in PDL of Rick Warren. But their loyalty is misplaced. Christ alone is our Good Shepherd!

My documentation of bullying in the church can be documented in my books and articles on our websites below.

I can only hope and pray that you are simply not aware of what Mr. Slabaugh is doing that you would enlist him as a group leader for Aphesis Group.

Are you sure that this is an alliance you want to keep? This appears to me to be a clear cut case of an unholy alliance. I pray that you will heed my warning about him.

I have every right to defend myself according to Scripture. Mr. Slabaugh is a tale bearer and has born false witness against me and many fellow soldiers in Christ whom I know to be truthful and honorable Christians!!!!

I have copied Southwest Radio, Lighthouse Trails, Understanding the Times, Ken Silva, Director of Apprising Ministries.

From your website, I am encouraged to see that Scripture is your final and inerrant authority for your church. So, hopefully you will understand and heed the warning of this letter. Since you preach the Word, you will certainly know that slanderers will not enter the Kingdom of Heaven as both the Apostle Paul and the Apostle John warn us in the Bible.

    Sincerely in Christ,

Is that what you call defending the faith, throwing rocks? Shame on you for advancing the New Age dogma and rhetoric – “Jesus has believers in ALL faiths.”

Paul spent a good portion of his ministry, as did Peter and the others defending THE faith. He warned against false prophets and false teachers who would attempt to interject error.

We are to remain alert and always be willing to provide an answer for why we believe WHAT we believe.

There is NO shame in that at all. There IS shame, however, in errantly believing that we are to never disagree with anyone theologically, nor are we to extend an invitation to receive Christ.

In your version (Jesus has people in ALL faiths), there is absolutely NO need to receive Him personally. I would assume that you would say there are “believers” who are Buddhists, Muslims, Mormons, Jehovah’s Witnesses, Hare Krishna, etc.

If that is so, then there is NO need for Paul to have written Romans, Ephesians, and certainly not Galatians.

This lack of theological integrity you esteem is nothing but sincere sentimentality. However, THAT has no power to save individuals.

Teri Day, I think I might agree with you. Throwing rocks at Muslims that will cause more harm and hatred. There are some other good ways to spread your belief or religions. These days in the 21st Century, people are matured enough, think and act better then our Prophets. They can think and make choices freely. In remote areas of Malaysia and Africa, the Christian Missionaries successfully went to the aborigines, built churches and helped in the community services seemed to be better off.

It is sad though that there are so many within Islam who are not doing what you suggest I should do. They are neither making Islam look good to the world nor are they making peace-abiding Muslims look good.

The world is growing very short in patience due to their proclivities toward violence. The average person in America WILL push back.

Of course, let’s not forget how often Muslims throw rocks – literally.

You would think you would spend the time condemning actions of radical Muslims Col Mohd. Instead, you dutifully ignore the atrocities they commit, preferring instead to vilify me.

That’s called “stealth jihad,” but you’re really not that good at it.
