The Oslo, Norway Massacre and the Wheat and the Tares

Apparently, the individual who perpetrated the massacre first on government buildings in Oslo and then on members of a youth camp, killing at least 92, was a type of Neo-Nazi, believing that his actions were due to combat the hostility toward Israel.

The youth camp in question was essentially a Socialist group, completely opposed to Israel, their right to exist, and their right to defend themselves.  Essentially stating just one day before the massacre occurred that they were “tired of Israel,” AUF leader Eskil Pedersen expounded the virtues of putting together an international boycott that would hopefully cripple Israel’s economy.

The day before the massacre, AUF leader Pedersen invited the Norwegian Foreign Minister Jonas Gahr Støre to the camp. Støre in the very minister in Norway who recognized The Hamas, and held secret talk with the leadership in the Islamic terrorist organization.

This is what Pedersen is recorded saying to the Norwegian newspaper Dagbladet, on 21st of July. This was 48 hours before the tragedy took place.

‘I acknowledge that economical boycott of Israel is a dramatic tool to use. But we are tired of Israel’s behavior. Large parts of the Word reacts towards Israel all the time, but Israel do not pay attention. Our advice to the Government of Norway is a signal, that we are tired of Israel’ explains Pedersen.” [1]

It was later learned that when the massacre started, “Pedersen was the first to be taken into a boat, and guided into safety on mainland Norway.” [2]

It has been learned (but not by mainstream lefthead media bureaus) that the perpetrator in this case was both a Knights Templar member and Freemason, with pictures of himself in his respective uniforms/dress posted on his now defunct Facebook page.

While people throughout the world are essentially stating (with glee it seems) that this madman was a right-winger and a Christian to boot, based on statements from the aforementioned Facebook page, the reality is that within the visible Church, there exists a huge problem and it has existed since the inception of the Church.

Jesus spoke of the Wheat and the Tares in Matthew 13:24-30, in which He pointedly notes that a farmer planted his crop of wheat and shortly after he planted it, an enemy came in and planted tares.  This was done to ruin the crop and the workers – once they discovered the problem after the crop began growing – asked the farmer if he wanted them to go through and remove the tares.  The farmer’s answer was that they should let the two grow together until the harvest so that no wheat would accidentally be sacrificed with the tares.  After both plants matured and were ready to be harvested, the difference between them would be plain.  Not so when both were young plants, in which tares could be mistaken for wheat.

The parable is obviously about the Church that Jesus Himself would create.  The enemy – Satan – would waste no time in sowing “bad” seed, or tares among the wheat.  The two plants would grow up side by side until the harvest when the wheat would be separated from the tares and at that point, the tares would be destroyed.

This is exactly what we have in the visible Church today.  The world rarely – if ever – makes that type of distinction.  When they see people who are part of the visible Church doing things that Christians should not do, they laugh and shake their heads solely thinking about the hypocrisy among Christians.  This, they believe, gives them reason to not become Christians.

There are four things the world does not recognize regarding the Church:

  1. The visible and invisible Churches are not the same
  2. Christians are simply not perfect
  3. Tares are allowed by God to remain in the visible Church
  4. The Tares are not, nor will ever be part of the invisible Church

1.  With respect to the visible and invisible Churches, it should be recognized that the invisible Church is made up of only authentic Christians.  These are the ones who – according to John 3 – have received authentic salvation because the Holy Spirit has caused the person to become born again, or born from above.  This new birth is salvation.

The visible Church is all of Christendom, throughout the world in whatever shape it appears.  Anyone who proclaims or professes to be a Christian falls into this category.  There are millions of people who say they are Christians today, but who have not had the second birth spoken of by Jesus in John 3.  Because of that, they are simply not authentic Christians.

2.  Christians are never perfected in this life.  We have the Holy Spirit indwelling us, which provides us with the power to overcome sin – those things which God hates.  It is up to us to submit ourselves to God so that He will work in and through us to strengthen us and help us overcome the temptations that work to cause us to rebel against God.  Though we have the Holy Spirit, we will always also have the sin nature as long as we are alive.  This sin nature is not removed until after our deaths.  It will be at that point that we become perfected, not here and not now.

3.  The Tares were allowed by God to enter into the visible Church for His purposes.  The main purposes is to strengthen authentic Christians because it is only through the pressures and tribulations of this life that authentic Christians can grow.  Much like the pearl that begins as a tiny piece of sand in the oyster and through constant irritation becomes the beautiful and very valuable pearl, so to does the Christian become impacted by the pressures of this life.  As we submit to God for strength to overcome, He works in and through us to change our character so that over time, we become more like Christ.

4.  Tares will always be Tares.  They can never become Wheat.  They do not change their nature.  This is the difficult part about everything related to the invisible Church.  The Wheat is always separate from the Tares, yet as far as the world is concerned, the Tares appear to be authentic Christians, simply because the Tares say they are Christians.  The world doesn’t know any better and they really don’t care to know better.

The world does not like what authentic Christians stand for and because of that, the world chafes at that type of indirect (and sometimes direct, through evangelization) pressure.  They reject God and therefore reject those who are authentically associated with God.

Authentic Christians remind the world that they are on a collision course with God and God is the Victory.  Satan and his demonic hordes work to undermine the testimony of the authentic Christian and they do this mainly through the Tares that are in the visible Church.  This creates the belief that all Christians are nothing but hypocrites, therefore, Christianity itself is worthless and false.

The gunman who first blew up a bomb then shot and killed 80 people may have thought himself to be an authentic Christian.  In fact, he likely believes that what he did, he did for God.  This is no different from the individual who blows up abortion clinics or kills abortion doctors and has the audacity to refer to himself as a Christian.  He is not.

Proof of the fact that these individuals cannot actually be Christians is seen in their actions.  If we compare what they have done with the Bible and what Jesus and His apostles and true followers did, we never once see any type of violent attempt to overthrow the order of the day, no matter how much they may have disagreed with it.

Jesus overturned the money changers’ tables in the Temple in anger.  Yet, He never incited rioting or anger against Rome.  He was not a counter-revolutionary except when it came to the problems He saw in Israel and specifically with the religious leadership of His day because of the burdens that they attempted to place on the backs of the average Jewish person.

I am opposed to the way the world in general deals with and thinks of Israel.  I stand against the chicanery, the bigotry, and the racism that people constantly hurl at Israel, as if no other nation ever does anything wrong.  The reality is that God will deal with Israel.  I don’t have to go to war against the world because of their unscriptural bias against the Jews and Israel.

I find it fascinating that in the book of Zechariah, God points out so many things about Israel; what He will do, what He will cause the world to do, and how He will resolve things, where Israel is concerned.  Many times throughout this book, God credits Himself with moving the world against Israel.  He does this obviously for His purpose.

It will come about in that day that I will make Jerusalem a heavy stone for all the peoples; all who lift it will be severely injured. And all the nations of the earth will be gathered against it,” (Zechariah 12:3 NASB).  If we look around today, the nations are dead set against Israel.  But notice that God is the One who has made that happen.  Why?  So that He can get Israel into a corner so that they will realize that He and He alone protects them.  Though God moves the nations against Israel (and I believe here, He is speaking of the final battle just prior to the return of Jesus at the end of the Tribulation), He is their Protector and He will prove it to them.

Once the Jews realize Who has been protecting them, they react with, “A strong support for us are the inhabitants of Jerusalem through the LORD of hosts, their God.” (Zechariah 12:5b).  He causes the nations to come against Israel and then saves them from those hostilities.  “In that day the LORD will defend the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and the one who is feeble among them in that day will be like David, and the house of David will be like God, like the angel of the LORD before them.  And in that day I will set about to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem,” (Zechariah 12:8-9).

In just a few chapters later, we read these words, “Then it will come about that any who are left of all the nations that went against Jerusalem will go up from year to year to worship the King, the LORD of hosts, and to celebrate the Feast of Booths,” (Zechariah 14:16).  Notice clearly that there will be people from the nations that went up against Israel who did not support their nation’s decision.  Instead, they did what they could to protect Israel and individual Jews.

What the killer in Oslo did, was not something that glorified the Lord at all.  He took it upon himself to play God, by deciding that those who stood against Israel should die.  God has not done that…yet.  But if Scripture is true (and it is), then it is clear that this is something He will do in the future.  The important thing is here, is that He will do it.

Unlike Allah, Jehovah God does not expect His followers to go out and kill those who stand against Israel, the way Allah supposedly wants his followers to destroy all of those that are considered infidels (non-Muslims).  What God expects us to do is to help Israel now – both the nation and the individual Jews.  God will take care of the rebels Himself.

The killer in Oslo, Norway was and is way off base.  There is nothing he did that can even be remotely considered as the act of an authentic Christian.  Jesus was not a violent Man.  He preached love.  He preached salvation.

It is doubtful that we will see the last of this type of terrorist activity, no more than we will see the last of people like Harold Camping who believe that they have an inside track on God’s timetable.  Both of these types of individuals seem to be in it for themselves, though they both firmly believe that what they have done is “of God.”

I am truly sorry that so many people died and so many lives were affected by the selfish and insane actions of a man who apparently believed he was doing what God wanted him to do.  The sad fact of the matter is that not only was he not doing what God wanted done, but it can be accurately stated that he was doing what Satan wanted done.  It was fully demonic because his actions were like that of “his father, Satan,” of whom Jesus said was a “murderer from the beginning,” (cf. John 8:44), because it was Satan who prompted Cain to murder his brother Abel, because he was jealous that Abel’s gift was accepted by God and his was not.

The actions of the murderer in Oslo, Norway, prove that he is not an authentic Christian.  He is a Tare, being used of Satan to not only cause suffering in the world, but also to help create a situation throughout the world in which authentic Christians will come under a growing persecution because of the misperceptions of the world and the lies they have bought into regarding the true nature of Christians and Christianity.

Massacre in Oslo – Was a Christian Behind It? Was the Oslo Gunman a Christian? In His Own Words…

When people’s legitimate concerns are silenced (in this case by political correctness), those concerns ultimately tend to manifest themselves in extreme ways. My main concern is that the violent action of one unhinged individual will stymy legitimate political and cultural discussion about illegal immigration and the cultural Islamification of Europe.

I have lived in Europe, and terrible to say but unless something is done soon there will be more actions like this one. One can walk down Whitechapel Road (100m from the Tower and London and directly across the river from Shakespeare’s Globe), where the modern English language was literally born, and not hear a word of English but think one was in Pakistan.

In terms of Tares, I think most Christians belong to denominations that have been unfairly criticized for the actions of minority extremist members.

The point of the entire situation is whether or not this individual was in fact, an authentic Christian. I cannot believe that he was or is based on his actions. Whether his free speech was violated or not gives no one a right to perpetrate evil of this type.

Regarding Islam, I almost believe it is too late because of the many prophetic utterances in Scripture regarding the End Times and the arrival of a one-world religion. I know we disagree on that.

You are making a knee-jerk reaction regarding Tares here. Tares are those individuals who are NOT saved and never will be saved but are part of the visible Church. Satan uses these individuals for his purposes to thwart God’s purposes.

I do not believe that Seventh-day Adventism has been unfairly criticized at all. There are a good many problems with it. Though you and others swear that you do not agree with Ellen G. White does not negate the numerous issues with her theology that on the surface completely disagree with many teachings of Jesus, especially where salvation is concerned.

We have gone down that road before and it is pointless to go down it again.
