Ironic How World Blames God for Problems

December 3, 2015 at 8:45 AM 2 comments

dailyIn a recent headline from the Daily News stated without equivocation, “God Isn’t Fixing This.” This worldview that many take to heart is ironic, to say the least.

Consider the fact that since before the fall – starting with Lucifer, who became Satan, aka The Accuser – created beings have endeavored to do things their way. God clearly and plainly tells us that for life, we must do things His way. Created beings respond to that with, “No, I’m going to do it my way, thank you very much!”

Then, when things don’t go as we want them to go, we do exactly what Adam and Eve did when caught in sin. We lay blame elsewhere because it’s not only easier, but more expedient. It absolves us of any responsibility…we think.

When Eve sinned, she did so because she was deceived into thinking that God had intentionally hid the full truth from her (Genesis 3). Here is Paul’s commentary on that.

And Adam was not deceived, but the woman, because she was fully deceived, fell into transgression, (1 Timothy 2:14).

The woman was no match for Satan. She quickly fell to his insatiable desire to overcome and eventually rule over God’s created order. He won round one, but in reality, he won nothing. It simply appeared as though he had won.

Adam was not deceived and instead of resisting the devil’s nuanced argument and Eve’s allure, he simply chose to do what he knew was the wrong thing. Throughout history, there is a growing record of fallen human beings doing the exact opposite of what God wants us to do in order to live.

In other words, the world is the way it is solely because of humanity’s tryst with the devil. We cannot let go of him and his ugly, sinful ways. We revel in them. We do our best to emulate him, the father of lies.

All of history – past, present, and future – is laid out before God since before the foundations of the world were placed. Nothing takes Him by surprise.

In spite of how many would like to think today, the terrible tragedies the world faces are due solely to humanity’s unwillingness to do things the way God has clearly outlined.

The truth is that the Daily News article is nothing more than hyperbole designed to punish God for something He is not at all responsible for creating. Moreover, the article attacks those on the right who offer “platitudes” related to gun control.

As latest batch of innocent Americans are left lying in pools of blood, cowards who could truly end gun scourge continue to hide behind meaningless platitudes.

What the Daily News and those who agree with its recent article fail to understand – in fact, can never fully comprehend – is that humanity has created its own mess but God is going to fix it! This “fix” is not something that the world in general will appreciate. The time is coming when God will physically step into humanity’s evil world and straighten things out…His way.

It is also ironic to me that this same world that does all it can to push God out of the way, can deign to come to the fore with such meaningless drivel as seen in the Daily News headline. It’s meaningless on one hand, because those who offer that argument do not even believe in God in the first place. On the other hand, it makes perfect sense to them since they do not believe in God, offering prayers of any sort is pointless.

The reality is that those who agree with the Daily News article want full-on gun control leading to confiscation. As I’ve said here and elsewhere, this would be a pointless act because as we know from the previous instances of gun-related violence on the scale defined by the FBI as a massacre, there is nothing that can be done to adequately remove guns from criminals. They will find a way to obtain them. They will get what they want.

This – again – was proved beyond doubt with the creation of the 18th Amendment, which created Prohibition. All of a sudden, citizens who had legally purchased liquor were now forbidden from doing so. Did they stop buying alcohol? Of course not, so they became involved in fully illegal activity. The push for Prohibition came about because people got tired of seeing men go to bars, get drunk, spend all their hard-earned cash, then come home to beat the wife and kids. The reasons for wanting Prohibition were certainly good. The problem was that laws cannot change hearts then and it cannot do so now.

Eventually, the 18th Amendment was repealed (with the 21st) and life went back to some sense of “normalcy.” Oh, did I mention that the 18th Amendment also gave rise to organized crime in the United States? Without it, Al Capone and others would never have become household names. They controlled their bootlegging empires totaling into the millions of dollars with an iron grip.

Guess what? Organized crime still exists today and it has its “holdings” in the form of drugs, prostitution, gambling, and other vices. The 18th Amendment proved that morality and a true change of heart cannot be legislated.

Yet today, we are back at square one with people continuing to harp about the fact that if we could simply eliminate guns, we would eliminate gun violence. Not only is this an extremely immature and incorrect way of thinking, but it omits any sense of logic based on proven history.

But the larger picture is something fallen human beings always miss. Making or even changing laws never guarantees that people will obey them. It’s a heart problem. People understand the law for the most part. However, they also provide for themselves willingly accepted excuses as to why they can temporarily set aside laws at whim, for their own benefit.

How many people text and drive? How many people speed? How many people run red lights or fly by stop signs? How many people cheat on their taxes? If normal, average people do this, how much more willingly do actual criminals break the law at every turn?

Even if we could eliminate guns in society – an absolute impossibility – the heart of the person would remain the same. The propensity to sin, to fall short, to live a self-centered life, would still be rampant throughout society. That part would not disappear and it would simply come out in other ways. People would still kill. They would still take what does not belong to them. They would still live for themselves.

The idea that the Daily News doesn’t like the fact that politicians and other leaders offer “prayers” when a tragedy like this occurs (hence their missive, “God Isn’t Fixing This”), proves the Daily News misses the point entirely. The Daily News wants greater gun control (and probably would thoroughly enjoy full gun confiscation, like the teetotalers so desperately wanted the absence of liquor in society because they thought that would solve all the problems), which would only teach us that the absence of guns doesn’t solve anything at all, since humanity will not have changed.

Of course, there is also a very real possibility that this most recent mass shooting in San Bernadino, CA is the result of terrorism – actual terrorists simply bent on creating terror. If so, it is likely we will not be hearing too much about that because that plays against the narrative that certain groups are trying to create. There is an excellent chance that we will see more examples of actual terrorism throughout places in America. It is also ironic to me that by and large, these tragedies often occur in places where gun control laws are in place and very strict. If an attempt like this was to occur in the south somewhere, the shooting would not be one way – from gunman to innocent victims. There are too many people who carry guns in the south and know how to use them. These gunmen are largely very afraid of being shot at, so they choose their targets wisely. What better target is there than a group of blind, deaf, or developmentally disabled people enjoying their Christmas party?

Christian, hang on. The Lord is coming to right all wrongs. He is here with us – in you and me – and you can bet He is most certainly willing to work in and through us in order to bring many of the lost to Him even now. In spite of the frustration that we see and experience in society, God still has people to save, to bring to Himself. He wants to use you and me to accomplish it, but if you’re not willing or available, He’ll still get it done.

The world is ironic in its inability to see truth, but we Christians understand that. It’s because the world is fallen and under the control of the evil one so why should we expect anything else from them?

Don’t allow yourself to be sidetracked. Be and remain in fellowship with God Almighty. Submit yourself to Him that He might have you and your life to work through to bring about the miraculous saving of one life after another.

If you are His, then you owe Him that type of commitment. Don’t just talk the talk. Walk the walk. Submit yourself to Him.

The first thing I thought of when I saw that NYT headline: Oh, He’s gonna fix things, all right! And you won’t like it one bit!

Then I thought, maybe they have a point. Perhaps they spoke prophetically without knowing it. After all, this nation doesn’t want God for the most part, and it legally aborts His little created beings in the womb, and it snubs His moral laws. I’d say, since one of His judgements on a nation is that the enemy moves within its borders, that we are under His judgement so why should He “fix it?”
