Using Scripture in the Argument or Debate

In truth, when people become angered by someone who cannot or refuses to see any truth in their opinion, it says a great deal about them as people, not the person they’re trying so hard to convert to their way of thinking. Their insecurities are often the driving force behind why they argue and debate. They have to continually prove to themselves that they are correct because of their own ever-present doubts. I have found this to be the case with people in cults. They chafe under that label and have to prove to people that they are “Christians” too so they are in attack mode most of the time, seriously on the defensive.

Resources to Reach Those Caught Up in Error

I’ve dealt – to some extent – with what I perceive to be doctrinal errors of those within Seventh-day Adventism. It would be impossible to cover all of the sacred cows of this group and many others have taken the time to catalog these errors, in either book form or their websites.

As I’ve stated on numerous occasions, debating does little to nothing to convert a person. It is God the Father who draws a person and if He does not draw them, they will not come to Him. Granted, presenting truth is a good way to start, but that of course is no guarantee that the truth will be embraced. All one has to do is read through the Gospels and the book of Acts to learn of the many times that multitudes of people heard the truth from Jesus (or Paul, etc.), and simply rejected that truth out of hand.

What Do Mormons, Jehovah’s Witnesses, and Seventh-day Adventists Have in Common?

After all, how many times have you – as a SDA – told people that your beliefs are essentially their beliefs? How many times have you tried to pass yourself off as a mainline, orthodox individual? If so, then leaving the SDA and attaching yourself to a mainline, orthodox church will not affect your salvation, will it? If you believe it WILL, then obviously something is wrong. Obviously, you have been living a lie and when all is said and done, you do not really believe that other groups can be or are saved, do you?
