Another Dystopian But Outwardly Utopian Society in The Giver

giverAs my son and I sat in the movie theater today waiting for Godzilla to start, we were presented with several previews. One of those previews was for the upcoming film titled The Giver, to be released in theaters August 15, 2014.

The movie is based on Lois Lowry’s book of the same name and was the winner of the Newberry Medal in 1994. The movie stars Jeff Bridges, Meryl Streep, Katie Holmes, Brenton Thwaites and many others.

To borrow the summary from Barnes & Noble, we learn the following:

Jonas’s world is perfect. Everything is under control. There is no war or fear of pain. There are no choices. Every person is assigned a role in the community. When Jonas turns 12 he is singled out to receive special training from The Giver. The Giver alone holds the memories of the true pain and pleasure of life. Now, it is time for Jonas to receive the truth. There is no turning back.

Given his lifetime assignment at the Ceremony of Twelve, Jonas becomes the receiver of memories shared by only one other in his community and discovers the terrible truth about the society in which he lives.

Jona only thought his world was perfect. If it had been actually perfect, he never would have become The Giver’s apprentice because there would have been no draw for him to aspire to be the next Giver.

As we sat watching the preview, the thing that actually stuck out in my mind is when Meryl Streep’s character stated, “When people have the freedom to choose, they choose wrong.”

Apparently then, it takes some other group (usually the government) to control how people decide and in essence, decide for them. This is the essence of socialism, which ultimately leads to Communism.

It is remarkable to me how many movies over the years have had this type of theme (or sub-theme) built into it. What is usually the result of people learning that they really aren’t free to make their own decisions? They rebel until they can make their own decisions and whether those decisions are ultimately good or bad, at least they know they have the freedom to make them.

Think about all the movies you’ve seen or heard of that have some type of dystopian, dark future world where people simply do not have the type of freedoms that even God gave us during the Creation process. Off the top of my head, I can name quite a number of them, but here are just a few (in no particular order).

  • Equilibrium
  • 1984
  • Terminator series
  • Back to the Future
  • The Truman Show
  • Soylent Green
  • Blade Runner
  • Omega Man
  • The Island
  • District 9
  • Logan’s Run
  • Rollerball

It is natural for people to rebel against those in authority who place us in positions of servitude or remove our freedoms because “they” tell us that the world will be better off. In other words, all must suffer the loss of freedoms in order to build an alleged utopia, which more often than not, ends up being a dystopia.

Once again, I am reminded that the true people in power are moving global society toward that point in which everyone else (except the globalists and those extremely important to them) will be forced into a socialist type of living arrangement. The globalists will enjoy capitalism in its pure, unadulterated form with the coming new world company. This company will transcend national borders and because of it, will not be bound by import/export tariffs, nor will taxes need to be paid by the company for moving their products around the globe or using resources from wherever they are found on earth.

The problem with any and every man-made utopia is the fact that unless and until man overcomes the tendency to be greedy, jealous, and selfish, no Utopian society can actually work.

Unfortunately, whether we like it or not, globalists are pushing for a new world order, which will not include the amount or level of freedom we now enjoy.

So why are these movies made? Are they simply made to rub our faces in what will eventually be reality for the world? Are these movies made so that we will have knowledge of methods that we can use to overcome the coming new world order? Fat chance.

The one thing that always turns out to be true in movies like the ones I’ve mentioned in this article is that even though people are supposed to be happy with their living arrangements, for one reason or another they’re not. This leads them to find ways to overcome.

Truman did it in The Truman Show. Most of the main characters in the above listed movies did it as well. What we learn is that for better or worse, most people want to have the freedom to make their own decisions. Though there are some who yearn for the control only a totalitarian government can provide, most people want the responsibility that comes with living freely and being responsible for your own decisions.

Globalists give and they take away. They’ve actually been taking away for quite some time, all the while brainwashing people into thinking that what they want for humanity is far superior to what we have now.

As far as they’re concerned, there will come a day when we will all love Big Brother. Yet, too many movies are telling us the exact opposite. What’s up with that?

Think about this, he is talking about a movie, now how many people are going to put 2+2 and come to the conclusion, that things like this are coming about? Bet not many because the message is given in movie form, and all movies are considered entertainment, so the question is, Do you look at how things are happening and then put it to the truth to a movie, that if you get 2+2= 4, then your paying attention, if not you living with your head in the sand. Have you ever thought of a movie from long ago, and now seeing these very things come about, There are several movies that were made back in the late 40’s to the 80’s that come to mind, and it has happened in the current WH . So now the question becomes, did the person use this as his base to take us out, being he loves Hollywood and the fools that have the same thinking line as the person(s) in the WH. ? Think of movies like Keeper of the Flame, Wag the Dog, All the Kings Men, The Last Hurrah, etc. movies that told the warning of what is now taking place, and have in the pass,( but not like now, we are on fast forward) back in the 40’s and beyond. just some thing to think about. It’s all about~ control, greed, self, and ego.
