Just Avoid It
It’s so obvious but often so hard to see truth because people spend so much time trying to wade through how they feel about something. If it’s based on feelings, we do not need God’s Word. Spiritual Formation encourages that. Avoid Spiritual Formation at all costs.
Keswick Movement: Mark and Avoid
In 1859 William Boardman published his book, The Higher Christian Life. [1] The book ultimately birthed the Keswick Movement, so named because the first meeting was held in a church in Keswick, England. The Keswick Movement was filled with doctrinal error from the start and like nearly all errors that infiltrated Christendom over the centuries, they remain to this day. This shouldn’t surprise us because Satan has always twisted God’s Word to his own ends.
God in My Everything?
The more we begin to rely on our emotions and how we feel about something, the less likely we are going to look to God’s Word as the final and absolute authority for life and practice as Christians. This appears to be what Ken Shigematsu (and too many others to count), is doing. His books attempt to draw people away from the truth of the cross and Scripture into the arena of “feelz” using monastic rituals to get us there. He wants us to embrace the type of rituals that many ancient orders used for the express purpose of getting closer to God. Yet, these things are not in Scripture so we should be very concerned.

What creates lazy and unspiritual Christians is listening to, and heed to seducing spirits, who preach another gospel. That other gospel is found within the New Age Movement, which has surrepticiously made its way into the visible Church.
