8 Weeks to Empty Shelves?

I recall during the Biden administration and the fact that fuel prices were extremely excessive. It wasn’t long after he was sworn in that gas prices in our area were pushing toward the $5/gallon price. It was absolutely unreal. During that time, we had many warnings about food shortages because the big rigs that are prominent in getting our food to the stores would simply not run because of the high price of gas. It never panned out.
Just yesterday, I came across an article by Mark A. Shryock on Substack. The article is titled “EIGHT WEEKS TO EMPTY SHELVES. SIXTY DAYS TO FAMINE.” [1] So, I read the article and while he has some interesting (even good) points he made, I also noticed how he placed all the blame on Trump, even the recent Spirit airlines bankruptcy and them going out of business. What Shryock misses here is that during the Biden years, Jet Blue tried to buy Spirit airlines because they were having problems then. However, Biden’s administration with Harris and Buttigieg, deliberately worked against that merger. They claimed that if Jet Blue successfully purchased Spirit airlines, fare prices would skyrocket and that would harm society because people would be priced out of flying. Their efforts effectively stopped Jet Blue from acquiring Spirit.
Shryock makes no mention of that previous situation at all. He might even say it doesn’t come into play now. He simply places all the blame squarely in Trump’s lap. He also has things to say about how badly Trump is doing in the war against Iran. He says Trump has no clue what he’s doing and that Trump is essentially a kid playing with blocks (my take).
Shryock notes that on May 3, 2026, the last oil tanker docked in California. He states, “That tanker was the last one. The last oil shipment from the Middle East to reach American shores. It arrived, it unloaded, and now it is gone.” He also notes America’s oil reserves are getting dangerously low. What he fails to note is that the Democrats would not allow Trump to refill those oil reserves when he wanted to do so.
Regarding the lack of oil into this country, he notes, “We are no longer in a price crisis. We are entering a physical shortage. A point where fuel stops being available at any price because there is none left to sell.” Of course, if he is correct and nothing changes to correct this problem, then we will see shortages and continued price hikes. He warns we are fast approaching a time that oil industry people refer to as “tank bottom,” which ostensibly means that it isn’t just low oil reserves. What it means is that the remaining oil in tanks cannot be retrieved because there is not enough pressure inside the tank to retrieve the oil. He says that the USA will experience this around July 4th.
While he does note the high price of gas right now, he makes zero mention of the fact that prices were at least this high if not higher under the Biden administration. He also refers to the airline industry collapse and points to Spirit airlines as proof of his comments. I’ve already explained that, how under Biden, Kamala Harris and Buttigieg worked very hard to ensure that Jet Blue could not purchase Spirit airlines. That airline was having serious problems during the Biden years. If we are going to be fair, we’d have to say that the gas prices during Biden’s term also created hardships for Spirit, but Shryock doesn’t go there. He does believe that Spirit was the first airline to dissolve, but won’t be the last.
Shryock also talks about the pricing we see, the paper price verses the physical price and these two do not gel. One of the other things he mentions is that the USA seems to be exporting more oil than it leaves at home to other countries. I’m not exactly sure why this is occurring.
He also mentions the oil embargo of the 1970s. I remember it well. You could only buy gas on odd or even days, depending on the last number of your license plate. We survived it and we survived all the events that Shryock notes in his article. However, from a biblical standpoint, there is a day coming when famine along with war and food shortages will occur inside the coming Tribulation period of seven years. The seals in Revelation 6 make this clear. Is that now? Well, if you consider the fact that the Antichrist is not publicly on the scene, no. This does not mean society will not have problems with high inflation and shortages as we are seeing now and those things could conceivably worsen. But the real problem unfolds inside the coming Tribulation.
Of course, Shryock wraps all this up in a neat package and places it squarely on the president’s desk in the Oval Office. It’s all Trump’s fault. Every bit of it.
That is where we are. A president focused on a ballroom sketch while the system collapses. A cabinet that does not appear to grasp the scale of what is occurring. A Congress that funded the war without demanding a contingency plan for what happens when 20 percent of global oil supply disappears. Republicans who backed every decision that brought us here. Democrats who did not cry out loudly enough to stop it before it started.
He is a child with a drawing. And the house is on fire.
If a new ballroom is built, it likely would not even be completed while Trump is president. It’s for future presidents.
In the end, Shryock is simply another Leftist who cannot see the forest for the trees. He, like many on the Left, offers no condolences for the estimated 30,000 to 50,000 people in Iran who were killed by the current Islamic regime. If he did say anything at all, he likely would think what happens in Iran is none of our business. It’s only none of our business because that’s the way he thinks. I’m not sure how anyone can sit by and believe no one should be involved in trying to save hundreds of thousands of lives in a foreign country where the atrocities of Islam constantly occur. Moreover, should there be no retribution against Hamas terrorists who we now know beyond doubt committed crimes against humanity by raping, torturing, maiming, killing (and then continuing to rape and assault dead bodies of) Jewish victims, both men and women, not to mention children? The people who turn a blind eye to these atrocities disgust me. They think only of themselves.
Shryock’s main point (as can be seen from the his title), is that we have 8 weeks before we see empty shelves and 60 days before we experience famine. Is he right? I doubt it, but he’s certainly convinced he’s correct. By the looks of the comments, many others also think he’s correct. So, let’s put the dates on our calendars, shall you? (Nod to the late Adam the Woo)
By the way, here’s what he notes about himself on his Substack page:
Based in Clayton, GA, Mark is an artist and writer. Previously an international professor and PhD fellow in India, he studied spirituality, Tagore, and cultural studies. He holds an Honorary Professorship at the School of Ancient Wisdom.
In other words, Mark is a confirmed pagan, relying on “ancient wisdom” of idolatry and/or Gnosticism to push his belief system. It doesn’t mean he’s wrong necessarily, because Satan is sometimes correct. What it means is that he cannot see the big picture because of his severely limited viewpoint, though he certainly thinks he does see it clearly.
Shryock’s article was posted May 8th. Eight weeks from May 8th puts us at July 3rd. Sixty days from May 8th puts a famine happening starting on July 8th. We will see what the landscape looks like at that point.
