It’s Just Becoming Weird, Isn’t It?

The last few weeks, my soul has grown weary. I find myself simply saddened at the chosen fate of too many today. They cannot listen to reason because they simply cannot reason. They are spiritually dead in their sins and cannot extricate themselves. Instead of being able to make good and right decisions, they continue to make decisions that place them deeper and deeper inside the lies that surround them and guide them along. Those lies, seen as truth, continue to guide them away from God in Christ.

Does Neil Postman Offer Us a Solution?

Postman notes that by the time the average American reaches 40 years of age, he/she will have seen “well over one million television commercials in his or her lifetime, and has close to another million to go before the first Social Security check arrives. Every program on television has a “sponsor,” a company that pays hundreds of thousands of dollars (or even millions, depending upon the program), to advertise their product during that show’s broadcast. Because of that, things have become very one-sided. While Postman does not condemn capitalism, he certainly understands that some of these corporations have become so large, they are their own monopolies and because of that, can and do dictate to society and even to our government how things are to be done. This, he says, has destroyed public discourse as it is supposed to be. He even notes that because of commercials, people began to stop using prepositions and that began in the 1950’s. It’s even worse today. This has been done through substituting images for claims related to a product. It’s not even talking. It’s merely a progression of images with a bed of pleasant music underneath.

Did the Exodus Actually Happen?

If there is virtually no evidence to support the biblical account, then where do we go from here? I believe Mahoney answers that question and answers it clearly. He sets about to determine the truth, wherever that truth happens to fall. He’s willing to let it fall on the side that either proves or disproves Scripture. To do so, he simply looked for any clues he could find. What he did find was that there is definitely a problem, but the problem is not in the evidence (or lack of it) regarding the Exodus. The problem may well be in the way the experts in the field have dated the Egyptian kingdoms.

Why Do People Not Believe?

t’s not that the text in Matthew 13 is telling us that if we only believed in God’s power in a greater way, we would be healed of all physical ailments. What we learn there is that God’s hands are often tied because of the stubbornness of people’s hearts, a stubbornness that pits them against God. Friends, we know that this is a very dangerous place to be, isn’t it? Yet, most in the world are there.

King Ahab and Jezebel, Part 7

There was not only no national salvation for Israel on its way as a result of God’s victory at Mt. Carmel. Elijah now faced a new problem, one that he probably did not expect. In this case, as we read, Jezebel wasted no time. She quickly sent a message to Elijah saying that he would be dead by that time on the next day. No sign of repentance on her part! Imagine watching or seeing 450 prophets of the god you worship get cut down by the sword after losing a very decisive and clear battle between the false god of Baal and the only true God, Jehovah. I get the feeling Ahab was hoping for such a response from her because he wasn’t man enough to do it himself. Yep, he wanted Jezebel to fight this battle for him.

King Ahab and Jezebel, Part 2

Such was King Ahab, who possibly without realizing it (but being just as culpable), ended up sided with Satan, and because of the overbearing personality of Jezebel and the fact that Ahab had little to no fight in him, Ahab continually opposed God’s purposes. Because of this and as is usually the case, Jezebel didn’t stop at simply ensuring that the worship of Baal was established throughout Israel. Eventually, she wanted to completely stamp out the worship of Jehovah.

So What Should We Do With Donald Trump?

What is most interesting and shows exactly how many on the left truly think is the way WikiLeaks is being hounded and vilified. In essence, they have released personal emails to the public. Legal minds can argue whether what they did is legal or illegal, but the information is out there in spite of that. It shows a corrupt DNC system that will do just about anything to bring opponents down; opponents like Bernie and Trump. This isn’t new as this type of corruption has been around since the Old Testament times. It is, unfortunately, part of the fabric of humanity due to our fallen natures and people willing to give into it.

Increasing Persecution of Christians in the UK and Europe

The times are becoming more difficult for all people, but especially for Christians, because I believe God is allowing Satan to gain dominion over this world for the coming seven years known as the Tribulation/Great Tribulation. It will kick off when one man steps onto the world’s stage and brokers a peace agreement with Israel and the surrounding Arab nations (Daniel 9:27). That man – the Antichrist – will eventually rise to the top of the heap and will be allowed (by God) to rule this entire planet for seven years. Ultimately, it will be Satan ruling through Antichrist, who is really Satan’s spiritual son. In that sense then, Satan will fulfill, to some degree, his promises he made to himself (yet God heard because of His sovereignty and omniscience), that he would become “like the Most High,” (Isaiah 14:14).

American Christians Seem to be Missing the Point, Part 3

The Christians who live in exceedingly dark countries, where evil reigns seemingly unchecked, understand how to let go of the things of this world. They allow God to slough off the things that keep them connected to the system of Babylon. You can move out of America and go to another country, but you can still be connected to the system of Babylon spiritually. God wants us to come out of her so that we are dedicated to Him and His purposes, so that we will stop thinking about our “rights” and “privileges” and focus on His will.

To Some He Gave Evangelists

However, in today’s world, it has become very difficult in some ways to minister to other people. I wrote half in jest on a social network the other day that there are essentially two types of people in this world, those who agree with you and those who don’t. That’s essentially it and when we are talking with folks who do not agree with us, the conversation can come to an abrupt end. We saw this during Paul’s ministry as he worked his way through Asia Minor. In Acts 17, Paul is at various places and tries to reason with the individuals there. In general, he was laughed at and called a “babbler.” He and Silas were chased from one place to another.
