Apparently, Jesus Was Supposed to Return October 17, 2016

Apparently, Dewey Bruton is an individual who has become rather well-known in the end times arena. Who knew? He has a very specific articulated timeline for Daniel as it relates to the end times. I completely disagree with it as do many others, but that doesn’t really matter because Bruton has a large following of people who latch onto every word he has taught. Here’s just one example of the reception Bruton’s teachings have received.

Saudi Arabia Uncovered

In schools in Saudi Arabia right now, young Muslim boys are taught that Christians should be punished to death with the hopes of eventually eliminating all Christians. Knowledge of these books and teachings have actually come to light and the Saudi family has stated that they are making changes. Yet, the documentary clearly shows that ultraconservative Wahhabism is being forced onto the population whether anyone likes it or not. If ISIS and the Saudis have their ultraconservative Islamic beliefs in common, then it stands to reason that the Saudis would not object to (and might even be inclined to help), ISIS marching through areas of the Middle East (or parts of Europe and America), doing what they can to instill fear, impose ultraconservative forms of Islam, and help overthrow factions and governments that are not ultraconservative Islamic in nature.

Politics, the Bible and You

This is not to suggest it doesn’t matter who we vote for or that their character doesn’t matter. It is saying that their personal ethics [are] not the first or sole criteria for determining the best candidate. As God is raising up and taking down leaders, we, as citizens of America, should use our best judgment to choose the candidate that will maintain law and order, seek the welfare of all people, and to promote good and restrain evil as God defines it. We do our best and allow love and grace to abound.

Does God Allow Bad Things to Happen to Good People?

This idea that God should step in and stop bad things from happening to supposedly good people is a doctrine born in the pit. There is no truth to it but it has an air of correctness to it, though dare I say it is only politically correct in a world that generally denies God even exists. People want only good things to happen in their life, but they also only want to exercise their free will. It would seem that exercising free will is what got Satan and his angels into trouble and the same occurred with Adam and Eve. Free will seems to always set itself against God. Maybe this is why Paul referred to the angels who did not fall through rebellion as the elect angels of God (1 Timothy 5:21)? Maybe that had no ability to choose to rebel. It’s possible they were created elect already, without any ability to fall away from God in rebellion.

Living in Light of the Times, Part 2

We need to get with God’s program and stop worrying about how we can change society so that things will “improve.” They aren’t going to improve. Hell is destined to be unleashed onto the earth and Satan will have his day in the form of Antichrist and he will be defeated with finality. Aren’t you glad? There is an end to this growing, stupefying morass of evil and it is on the horizon. Can you not see it? Can you not yet hear the footsteps of the Messiah as He returns in complete and utter victory to a world that has always rejected Him and His sovereign rule?

Living in Light of the Times, Part 1

As we focus on the eventual return of Jesus (or the fact that we will see Him face-to-face upon our death, which as far as we are concerned, could occur at any moment), John tells us that focusing like this creates a purity within that we otherwise did not have. It is incumbent upon us to literally look for that future time when Jesus will rule physically over all Creation. Is that not something to be excited about?

Numbers: Census and History of Israel

The book of Numbers is a book that should remind us of our propensity to wander away from God if left to our own desires. We must be diligent in serving Him and reminding ourselves that we need to do whatever it takes to remain true to our calling. Our calling is to faithfully submit our will for His at every turn.

Psalm 2: Puny Man Waging War Against God, Part 4

Truth is very difficult to come by in today’s society. It really is up for grabs and most adopt some perceived truth that is not truth at all. Psalm 2 speaks to this problem that unfolds the closer we get to the physical return of our Lord and Savior. But in spite of this, God speaks a warning that these rulers and judges should be wise. Clearly, God would not warn them to do this if actual truth was impossible to ascertain. In their heart of hearts, truth – absolute truth – is there, but the kings and judges (along with each and every individual person), must be willing to look for it and acknowledge it when they find it.

What Does Work Out Your Salvation with Fear and Trembling Mean?

Can you imagine if someone bought you a house, gave you the key and said, “This is yours! All you have to do is make monthly payments on it!” What kind of a “gift” is that?! Sure, they put the down payment on it, but you are now left with coming up with the monthly mortgage! It wouldn’t be a gift at all, but a true burden. Now if someone gave you a house where you owed nothing on it (no monthly mortgage or taxes), that would actually be a free gift. Certainly, you might be expected to keep the home up so that it did not go into disrepair. However, even if you did allow that to happen, the house itself would still be yours. No one could take it away from you because it was completely paid for by someone else, leaving you with absolutely no debt on it.

Psalm 2: Puny Man Waging War Against God, Part 3

People might rightly wonder about this. How could the Millennial Kingdom rule of Jesus not be a time of unbroken peace? Oh, it will be peaceful, but it will not be without its problems (implied in the need for Jesus to rule with a rod of iron). The main reason for that is due to the fact that people who have survived the Tribulation and enter it as well as those human beings born during it will still have sin natures. This is not excised from individuals (who are saved) until after death (or the Rapture). As long as we are living here on earth as human beings who have yet to die (or be Raptured), the sin nature is, unfortunately, very much apart of our lives.
