Social Gospel, Pt. 2
Jesus approached ministry by often meeting the physical needs of people. But He always shared the gospel with them. He fed thousands. He healed the sick. He cared for people tangibly, but He always taught and preached. That is what Christians are called to do.
The Social Gospel
But not long after Rauschenbush came to be deeply concerned for the poor he began writing extensively about ways to help them. One book he wrote in particular – “Christianizing the Social Order” – influenced protestant denominations throughout America. He eventually came to be known as “Father of the Social Gospel in America.”
Socialized Gospel vs. Eschatology
If we are discussing Eschatology without using it as a springboard into an evangelistic effort, then why are we placing such an emphasis on Eschatology?
