Opening the Third Eye via Witchcraft, Sorcery, and Magic

Within the depths of the New Age movement (as well as the Occult), there is what is termed the “Third Eye.” This is believed to be the Pineal Gland that is also considered to the be the doorway to the spiritual realm. Philosophers, occultists, theosophists, and others have written about this gland and believe that when we are born into this physical world, this gland is closed. The goal – they say – is to open this gland because in doing so, a bridge is created between this physical world and the spiritual realm. Once the Pineal Gland is opened, it allows a person to see into that realm. Thus, the reference to it being the Third Eye.

The Pineal Gland is an actual, physical gland housed within the brain. You can see in the image that a cutaway of part of the brain that houses the Pineal Gland that it resembles an eye. In Ancient Egypt, this gland was thought to be the Eye of Horus.

Scientists believe that the Pineal Gland secretes melatonin, a substance that creates and monitors our circadian cycles. “The pineal gland is a pine cone shaped gland of the endocrine system. A structure of the diencephalon of the brain, the pineal gland produces several important hormones including melatonin. Melatonin influences sexual development and sleep-wake cycles.” (Emphasis added.)

While science tells us the Pineal Gland is connected to the production of melatonin, practitioners of the occult arts (including those involved in the New Age movement) see the Pineal Gland as the door between the physical and spiritual. As such, and as noted, the goal then is to use this gland for humanity’s benefit. This is done by opening the door to the spiritual because it is believed that through that open door lies the hidden knowledge (or gnosis) that benefits humankind.

I believe that since the fall of humanity, this realm is completely off-limits to humanity and the Bible makes this clear. God has purposefully closed that door and wants us to steer clear.

There are over 60 Scripture references that warn about using witchcraft in any form. Whether it’s idolatry, sorcery, magic, or other forms of the occult, human beings are forbidden to enter into those realms. We can ask why all we want, but the reality is that God has forbidden it. I’m guessing – based on the fall of humanity alone – that every form of witchcraft creates some form of spiritual wound or even physical and spiritual death in human beings. If continued, it will eventually destroy a human being that pursues it religiously.

The demons (and Satan himself) whose abode is the spiritual realm, desperately want to get into this physical realm. They can only do so via invitation into this realm by human beings. Once they have access to this physical realm, they can create far more havoc than they often can from just the spiritual realm (though they can and do cause a great deal of problems from there as well; cf. Job).

Demons access and affect this realm the greatest through their direct association with human beings. This could be anything from interfering with a human, to controlling aspects of their life, to outright possession of that individual. If they possess the individual, they have access to their brains as well as their bodies, controlling them to do whatever they want. All they need is an invite.

The point is that Satan has something for everyone. He can open that gateway to the spiritual realm through rock music, drugs, pornography, New Age mysticism, Shamanism, the Occult, and many other ways. If people are not careful, they will soon find themselves being overrun by demonic forces because they are playing with something that is off-limits and thoroughly dangerous.

During the early days of the nation of Israel, God told leaders via Moses that if a witch was found among the Israelites, that person should not live (cf. Exodus 22:18; Leviticus 20:27, etc.) Why was that? Was it because God hates witches? No, it’s because God hates what witches do. They open the door to the spiritual realm through which Satan and his minions enter. While witches believe they are conjuring up dead people, they are in fact, simply opening the doorway to the spiritual realm. It is a direct invitation to demonic hordes, something we will see openly during the Tribulation/Great Tribulation (cf. Revelation 9:1-12).

Why did God destroy all the earth with a Flood during Noah’s day? It’s not simply because people did evil things. It’s because people became evil themselves, having been overtaken by the demonic realm. This is why Genesis 6:5 says, “Then the Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great on the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.”

Humanity (except for Noah and his immediate family) had been thoroughly corrupted and there was absolutely no possibility for salvation for them. It was hopeless, which is why God chose to start over with Noah. To a smaller degree, this is also why God destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah. It’s not so much because almost all the men and boys were homosexuals. It’s because they had become thoroughly evil in and of themselves. There was no possibility of them seeking God at all. Once the door to the spiritual realm is open to such a degree, there is no going back. The evil cannot be undone and must simply be destroyed. That is the danger of opening the Third Eye, or the Pineal Gland.
