Pineal Gland, New Age, and Christianity

Is the pineal gland the doorway to God?

I’m amazed at how many people seem to be floating off into “inner” space on a quest for eternal life or at least to have conversations with God. I suppose I shouldn’t be surprised because the Bible warns that in the end times, people will move away from the faith (cf. 1 Timothy 4:1; also Hebrews 6). Jesus also warned of it in His Olivet Discourse found in Matthew 24, Mark 13, and Luke 21.

The reality is that as this world is pushed toward a system of one-world governance and religion, more of those who are simply professing Christians within Christendom, as well as the world at large will of their own volition move toward the coming Babylon that is being built right under our noses by Satan. The final man of sin, as Paul calls him in 2 Thessalonians 2, will reign supreme under the authority given to him by Satan, his spiritual “father.”

In the meantime, we watch as the many within Christendom move toward full-blown apostasy. It should not shock us that many are moving away from sound doctrine. This is working out exactly as Paul warned that it would.

“For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears,” 2 Timothy 4:3.

There are many who are simply not truly born again (cf. John 3) and therefore, are not sealed with God the Holy Spirit (cf. Ephesians 2), and because of that, are incapable of discerning the truth with all the error that is bandied about by many. We are hearing more about New Age practices making it into the church. People are giving up the sound practices and beliefs of their forefathers, trading them for exciting rituals, beliefs, and practices that they are drawn to because of their lack of discernment.

It is interesting to me how Satan has used women to push his agenda. Like Eve, women seem to be more easily deceived, which is exactly what Paul stated in his letter to Timothy as the reason why he did not allow women to teach men.

“But I do not allow a woman to teach or exercise authority over a man, but to remain quiet,” 1 Timothy 2:12.

“For Adam was formed first, then Eve. And Adam was not the one deceived; it was the woman who was deceived and became a sinner,” 1 Timothy 2:13-14.

Note that the basis for today’s New Age movement was created by Madame Blavatsky, who founded the Theosophical Society in 1875. Following her, Alice Bailey wrote many books starting in 1919 and influenced more generations of people into the New Age religion. Within certain occult circles, the concept of Gaia and women as divine forces us to realize that Satan has spent eons turning God’s created order upside down and molding women and society to follow a different tune.

Regarding the New Age, I’ve written numerous articles, but I wrote one in particular on the pineal gland and how it is viewed by New Age proponents. It is believed that this gland was put in our brains to be used as a doorway to converse with God. We can open this gland a number of ways, but open it we must. This is New Age thinking and unfortunately, this type of thinking has found its way into the (visible) Church, with one leader after another speaking of the alleged benefits of opening and using this gland to literally go into God’s throne room as often as desired.

Another woman who believes in this view is Dr. Joye Jeffries Pugh, who received her doctorate in education from Nova University. Interestingly enough, Pugh teaches the types of things normally found within the halls of the New Age movement.

“Pugh, a Baptist, gives credence to chakras and “ley lines,” which are allegedly energy lines in the earth (part of New Age beliefs). Pugh is an example of a number of very conservative Christians whom I have observed accepting some New Age ideas as valid in order to support zany theories, like the Pineal gland and God.

“She’s also into the idea of vibrations and sounds just as the New Age believes. Moreover, she gives validity to a lot of lore and legend, as well as occult views, trying to explain them in pseudo-scientific terms.”

Pugh has published numerous books. The first was ANTICHRIST The Cloned Image of Jesus Christ in 1999. Since then, she has written others, including Eden: The Knowledge of Good and Evil 666, published in 2006, followed by three volumes of BEGUILED: Eden to Armageddon, in 2013 -2014. One Amazon reviewer stated the following with respect to Volume 1 of Pugh’s book:

“Beguiled offers a different look at the Bible and the Garden of Eden story that you don’t get in church. It raises many questions but provides research and documentation to promote the ideas. Great Christian original research.”

Pugh has no real theological training, yet by taking New Age concepts and applying them to Scripture, comes up with New Age dogma that appears outwardly biblical. There are times when Pugh really goes far into left field with some of her theories where she actually asks whether or not Prince William is the “cloned image of Jesus,” or the coming Antichrist. She considers herself to be a prophecy expert as well.

Regarding the pineal gland, “Pugh claims that God made the Pineal Gland so we could communicate with Him, but that it can be ‘hacked’ if you put your focus on evil things. Satan will use the Pineal Gland to confuse and deceive people, according to Pugh. The Pineal Gland is often known as the ‘Third Eye‘.”

I have commented previously on this gland. “While science tells us the Pineal Gland is connected to the production of melatonin, practitioners of the occult arts (including those involved in the New Age movement) see the Pineal Gland as the door between the physical and spiritual. As such, and as noted, the goal then is to use this gland for humanity’s benefit. This is done by opening the door to the spiritual because it is believed that through that open door lies the hidden knowledge (or gnosis) that benefits humankind.”

The tragedy today that is infiltrated the (visible) church (or Christendom at large) is due to the occult and the interest that many even in the church are finding with this prohibited area. It boasts of secrecy that opens itself up to those who seek it, a hidden knowledge that, if searched for diligently, will offer rewards for humanity and self. This of course, is seen in Christian terms because the Bible promises that God is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him (cf. Proverbs 8:17; Hebrews 11:6). What that is referring to is that He will reward people who seek Him for salvation. That is the entirety of the “secret” knowledge. Satan of course, wants us to believe that God will open the portals to secret wisdom found only in the heavenly realms or other dimensions.

The truth is we are watching people fall away from the faith and it is clear that this is happening because these people have no real or firm grounding in God or His Word. They seek and find something that is not God, but only appears to be like Him (cf. 2 Corinthians 11:14), which is Satan.

What they end up with is what Paul described to the Colossians.

“Let no one keep defrauding you of your prize by delighting in self-abasement and the worship of the angels, taking his stand on visions he has seen, inflated without cause by his fleshly mind,” (Colossians 2:18).

These people only think they have found truth but in reality, they have been snared with false knowledge that only serves to puff them up and make them believe they have gained access to something that only few know about.

Brothers and sisters, we must flee from them, but certainly continue to pray for them. Only God can open their eyes. In the meantime, don’t allow them to blind yours.
