Ecclesiastes and Vanity of Life, Part 12

ecclesiastes1Note: We’ve talked briefly about the powers that be and their growing stranglehold on the world. One of the things we’ve noted is that they want the world to be essentially gathered together in groupings or unions just like the EU. This will be a serious step toward global unification even though it will appear as though countries still exist. They will basically exist in name only as they currently do for those who are part of the European Union (EU).

I’ve also mentioned in my short series on Conspiracy Theories, that these same globalists who are directing things toward a one-world system of global governance are looking to create the North American Union (NAU). It’s actually been in the works for some time under various names like NAFTA. The goal is to eliminate borders between Canada, the United States, and Mexico. This is probably the biggest reason why we are seeing such an uptick in border crossings from Mexico into the U.S.

Prior to George W. Bush leaving office, he had set aside money to build a wall on America’s southern border. Once President Obama got into office, one of the first things he did was cancel the order and use the money elsewhere. Personally, I fully believe that what Bush did was what globalists allowed him to do so that he would look good to conservatives. Had he been sincere about it, he would have taken on the task in earnest as soon as he’d been elected to the Oval Office eight years prior. I don’t think the border fence was ever meant to happen because once globalists will get what they want – a NAU – the fence would come down anyway.

We are seeing this in a current report about the fact that US Border Agents are essentially telling us they are being ordered to “release illegal immigrants and no longer order them to appear at deportation hearings, essentially a license to stay in the United States.” Moreover, the agents are told they cannot track the illegals once they are released.

You see, even though the United States of America will still be called that on paper and maps, our sovereignty is being destroyed by extremely wealthy people whose families have gained the power necessary to do what they want and overwhelm the voice of the people. This is why nothing gets done. Nothing changes even though there is a great deal of “huffing and puffing” at times in Washington with all the congressional hearings that never amount to anything. America’s sovereignty has been under attack for several generations in earnest and nothing we can do will change the overall outcome. I know that sounds defeatist, but the Bible is very clear that Satan will have his one-world system of governance for a short period of time.

That aside, let’s get back to Ecclesiastes, with chapter three.

The following verses are probably some of the most well-known verses of Ecclesiastes. They have been immortalized in poem and song, but Solomon was the first to write them. I’ve included them here in the King James Version (KJV) since that is how most people originally learned them.

1 To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:

2 A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;

3 A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up;

4 A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance;

5 A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;

6 A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away;

7 A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;

8 A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace (Ecclesiastes 3:1-8).

How much sadness, angst, and agony would we avoid if only we not only fully understood what Solomon is telling us here, but if we lived by these words. God’s Creation is an ordered Creation even in spite of the fact that man has ruined it through sin and the fall. The Creation remains ordered and Solomon outlines that order for us. He states without equivocation that there is a season – a specific time – for everything that exists under heaven. This, in and of itself, testifies to God’s sovereign involvement in and through His Creation. Even though at times, man believes that he is the one who exercises control, that is simply a lie the enemy of our soul puts forth and we believe.

After Solomon makes his sweeping statement, he breaks it down for us, in order to remove any doubt. People are born and at the appointed time, die. The seasons determine the best time to plant and to harvest.

Ultimately, what Solomon appears to be saying is that the end of everything man does is unprofitable.

In this section, Solomon expressed his conviction that in view of God’s incomprehensible workings, all human toil is without permanent profit. [1]

If we view all the things that Solomon has mentioned in the first eight verses, comparing them with eternity, then there is no permanence in what man does. Granted, I’m sure Solomon had a slightly different view of eternity and life itself during his day. Though he was exceedingly wise, his wisdom could only take him so far and he was not privy to all of God’s revelation we find in His Word today. We are blessed because of it. I’m sure you study it daily, right? Imagine how much wiser Solomon would have been had he the benefit of having all 66 books of what we call the Bible available.

I also believe that Solomon was essentially implying that everything that is “ordered” (a time for everything) is so ordered by God. Think about your life and what you cannot control and you would likely agree that you cannot control most things that happen in your life. God is sovereign. He is the One who has established order in this life, even in spite of the fall and the entrance of sin. In fact, it seems clear enough that because of our first parents embracing sin, God put several things in motion that probably did not exist prior to the fall, like the 2nd Law of Thermodynamics, which states that things left to themselves go from order to disorder (my paraphrase). Leave a banana out and in a few days, it goes from looking nice and ripe, to being overly ripe, to rotten. That’s the 2nd Law of Thermodynamics at work, which certainly did not exist prior to the Fall, did it?

God exercises control over many things throughout His Creation. Just because humanity sinned, thereby inviting Satan into this world along with temptation, disease, and death, God remains in control (Colossians 1:15-17).

I’m glad God is in control. There is coming a day though when He will step aside to allow even more evil to seemingly run rampant over this earth during the coming Tribulation/Great Tribulation. In essence, He will allow more evil to take root in society. We’re coming to that day but He does so for His glory.

We’ll be back with more of Ecclesiastes 3 next time.
