Seventh-day Adventism: Is there Really Anything Wrong With it?

It is interesting that one particular article I wrote well over one year ago (May, 2011) still continues to receive comments and posts. The article dealt with aspects of Mormonism, Jehovah’s Witnesses, and Seventh-day Adventism, but by far, most of the people who respond are from the Seventh-day Adventist system of belief. Many write to tell me that I am wrong, that they were raised within Seventh-day Adventism and as such, they assure me that either the beliefs I mention that are attributed to SDA are either erroneous, or limited to the fringe within SDA.

Muslim Brotherhood of Egypt Crucifying Dissenters

Anyone who stands against the newly installed government in Egypt is going to pay the price. Apparently, that includes being crucified. According to several news outlets, both Christians and non-Christians are being brutalized by President Morsi’s regime.

Cairn University – a Pile of Stones Used as a Marker

Reading through the magazine that, in the most current issue, has dedicated itself to discussing (and essentially defending) the reasons for the name change, I am struck with the realization that it all boils down to the belief that having the word “Bible” in the name somehow put the university in the unenviable position of losing out on student enrollment. To me – and I would be told that I am in the minority – this is a tragic reason for a name change.

Crisis in America?

Now remember, a “false flag” is an event make to look as though it is very real; kind of like a Hollywood movie (think “Wag the Tail”). There is never any real danger to the targeted person at all, but the average individual does not know this. All they know is what they hear on the news or read in the papers or on the Internet. Sure looks real to them, so by gum, it must be real!

Daniel Purposed to Obey God

In the first chapter of Daniel, we learn almost immediately about Daniel’s character. He, along with many others, were carted off to Babylon’s headquarters under King Nebuchadnezzar. Old Neb went back for a total of three separate occasions before he finally had finished pillaging the Temple treasures and burned Jerusalem to the ground.

Once taken captive, Daniel and his friends were part of Nebuchadnezzar’s grand experiment in brainwashing. It included being fed the best food and drink from the king’s storehouse. This was the first problem and the Bible tells us that “…Daniel made up his mind that he would not defile himself with the king’s choice food or with the wine which he drank…” (Daniel 1:8a). The KJV says that Daniel purposed in his heart. We need to stop and really consider this truth. Is it any wonder that Daniel was loved of the Lord? Is it any wonder that God was so gracious to him throughout his entire adult life?

Behind Enemy Lines

As Christians, we need to understand that what happens in this world often begins in the spiritual realm, according to the apostle Paul (Ephesians 6). In fact, as he points out, we are clearly enmeshed in a spiritual battle of epic proportions and as Christians in this world, we are behind enemy lines, often deep within enemy territory.

Hollywood Liberals Decry Violence in Movies

The idea that Hollywood has produced a warehouse full of movies depicting bloodbaths and violence that most have become accustomed to seeing as well as video games that leave nothing to the imagination tells me that while some in Hollywood are at least getting that part of the equation correct, then then make a jump that defies logic.

Gun Violence Isn’t Unique to the US Says Neil Cavuto

Here’s a great video and of course, it goes without saying that apart from Cavuto, these words will not be heard on any mainstream news stream. They just won’t because it doesn’t support the agenda of liberals and leftists who believe that eliminating gun rights is what this world needs.

The problem is that anywhere you look, there are loons and crazy people who have killed many people. It’s not simply the United States. The problem is universal. People who want to wantonly kill others will find a way to do it. It’s really that simple.

The Overwhelming Darkness of the Dark Knight Rises

I grew up with “Batman,” both in the comics and on the screen. When the 1960s Adam West Batman hit the TV screens, I remember exactly where I was and I was enthralled. I was living just outside of Santa Maria, CA at the time and happened to be at a friend’s house who also happened to have a color TV. That was very rare in those days and of course, the ability to see something in color was dramatic.

Colorado Tragedy and the Occupy Shooter

Before I say anything, I would like to say that my heart grieves for the people who were wounded and died at the hands of James Holmes, who is obviously a very psychotic individual. It was a tragedy by all counts and one that may not have been avoided in spite of how many anti-gun laws that some would like to see in place. The idea that you can go to a movie for a few hours of enjoyment and relaxation only to wind up wounded or dead seems surreal, yet it exists in our society today.
