What Can We Expect During the Millennium, Part 1?
We know that Jesus currently sits at the right hand of the Father in heaven and He rules with Him now (Hebrews 12:2; Philippians 2:8-9; John 1:1-3; 17:5; Acts 7:55-56). However, if we consider just Psalm 2, we learn that God the Father will install as ruler His Son, Jesus, to rule the nations from Zion (Jerusalem). It is an interesting Psalm and one that is tied to God the Son’s future rule over all the earth. Revelation tells us that He will rule with a rod of iron (Revelation 2:27) and this refers to His physical rule over all the earth. It is difficult to understand Scripture in terms of allegory when it is too clear that the texts are to be taken literally, just as the texts were to be taken literally referring to Christ’s physical birth as an infant into this world as a human being (while retaining His full deity; the God-Man with two natures; Philippians 2).
Ten Kings, the Antichrist, and the New World Order, Part 4
As we arrive to Daniel 9, we begin to zero in on specific times and timelines decreed by God Himself, with more of an explanation provided as to the exact amount of time that the Jewish people (Israel) would be under the thumb to some extent of Gentiles. We need to recall that had Israel been faithfully observant with respect to avoiding idolatry and fulfilling her responsibility with respect to the land Sabbath as well as Jubilee, all would have been well. For Israel to have accomplished this, it would have meant having kings who took seriously their role as leader and they would have been faithful in leading the people of Israel to keep all of God’s Law found in the Mosaic code. This was simply not the case and even though there were very likely people in Israel who had faith in God and believed His promises to them, the tone of the entire nation as determined by the corrupt and selfish kings who ruled over Israel was what God zeroed in on and the entire nation paid the price for their kings’ unfaithfulness in many things.
Ten Kings, the Antichrist, and the New World Order, Part 3
But where does all of this start? As we noted previously, even though the coming one-world government has roots all the way back to Genesis 11, Nimrod, and the Tower of Babel, it all begins in earnest in Daniel 2. This is where God chose to reveal what was previously hidden and starts the clock ticking. It is interesting that God chose to reveal the start of the first empire all the way to the global unification of the fourth and final empire in its revised or “resurrected” form (yet future), through Nebuchadnezzar. However, it makes sense if this is where God began tracking the 70 “weeks” that are revealed in Daniel 9.
Politics, Christians, and Romans 13, Part 2
Not only does Paul tell us that “no authority except that which God has established” is fact, but he essentially repeats it at the end of verse 1 when he says “The authorities that exist have been established by God.” Oh come on, someone might rebut, does that really mean that President Obama, this politician here or that one over there is there by God’s leave? They are corrupt and anti-God. They are terrible leaders. That may well be but what does that have to do with them being there due to God’s purposes?
It’s Political Season in Case You Aren’t Aware
Satan is the god of this age (2 Corinthians 4:4). He is the ruler of the powers of the air (Ephesians 2:2). With God’s permission, he has designed a system for which he will one day gain full control and insert his spiritual son into the mix as the final lawless ruler of the fourth revised Roman Empire, as seen in Daniel 2, 7, 9, and 11. It is bound to happen. There is nothing we can do to stop it as it is written in the “stone” of God’s Word.
Prophecies of Daniel 2, Part 4
We need to also remember that God chose to respond to Daniel’s prayers (and those of his friends) because of His (God’s) highest purposes. Daniel and his friends made themselves available to God and God chose to use them for His glory. In the process, these young men grew in wisdom and discernment before the Lord. Daniel himself was given the gift of interpreting dreams. These benefits came from God and were to be used to bring great glory to Him. These gifts were not to be used for selfish gain, but to highlight God’s purposes.
Prophecies of Daniel 2, Part 3
It is extremely important to understand that it is in this particular chapter, Daniel 2, that God provided a very broad picture of prophetic content for the earth from that point in human history up to the time of the physical return of Jesus, or His second coming. Based on this, it is easy to understand it was very likely God Himself who prompted Nebuchadnezzar to make such a demand of his wise men as he did. It was essentially God proving Himself and His sovereignty through Nebuchadnezzar to the world. We have seen that time and time again, God’s Word has been proven to be true.
Prophecies of Daniel 2, Part 2
If we stop to consider the fact that what God reveals information – some through the dreams of Nebuchadnezzar, some via angelic messengers, and some through Daniel’s own visions and/or dreams – to Daniel and ultimately, to us and all of it has to do with the future. Some of it was related to Daniel’s near future. Some of it pointed to the far future, even after Daniel was gone. Some of it pointed all the way to the time of Jesus and His Second Coming. It wasn’t for Daniel that God revealed these things, though certainly some of it applied to Daniel during his lifetime. Ultimately, the things that God revealed to Daniel were for the benefit of Israel and the world, long after Daniel would pass from this earth and it all started with these troubling dreams that robbed Nebuchadnezzar of his sleep.
Prophecies of Daniel 2, Part 1
Note that once Daniel provides the timeline (Nebuchadnezzar’s second year), he moves onto the reason for writing what becomes chapter two. Nebuchadnezzar has a dream that robs him of his sleep. The text notes that the king had more than one dream, that he had dreams (plural). It is likely that all the dreams – however many he had – were in a series but all had the same subject. Nebuchadnezzar was so troubled by these dreams that he could not maintain sleep for any real length of time.
