We know the story. Joseph did what he could to physically avoid her constant temptations to lie with her. But he wanted nothing to do with and would not yield. Where did Joseph get the power and ability to resist Potiphar’s wife? It had to stem from how he learned to fear OFFENDING the Lord all those years in prison. He had given himself over to God.

Failure to Fear the Lord

Job had heard God and had absolutely no answer to God’s queries. None. Job was left realizing how utterly vile he was and had no ground to ask or demand from God any answer to any question. This was Job’s start of true wisdom because he had finally come to a point of understanding what it meant to truly fear God.

Fearing the Lord

Would that our first parents had opted instead to simply obey God and depart from evil. This they chose not to do. But God is not mocked. Sin will run its course, to one day never again cast a shadow upon the new heavens and the new earth and the glorified people that God places within it. Glory to God in the highest. Even so, come quickly Lord Jesus. Amen.
