Harold Camping Now Blames God for Failed Predictions
Amazing how people like to blame God for just about everything that happens in their lives. Some of course like to blame Him for things that don’t happen as well. Such is the case of renowned failed prophet, Harold Camping.
Camping – as most know – predicted that Jesus would return on May 21st and when that failed to materialize, he quickly stated that Jesus had returned albeit spiritually. He’s not the first one to attempt to cover his tracks by playing that card. He also stated that October 21st was the real day and so the world waited, this time with no bated breath. As October 21st came and went with no visible signs of the Lord’s return, Camping had nothing to say to the media.
Camping is “Flabbergasted” – Do Ya Think?!
Harold Camping came to the door and told news reporters that he was absolutely “flabbergasted” that the Rapture did not occur as he predicted it would. The article then went onto say that though Camping admitted it had been a rough weekend, it was likely far more rough for the people who were taken in by the 89-year-old’s ridiculous predictions.
There is at least one voice of reason in all of this and he is apparently on Camping’s board. He stated, “I don’t know where we went wrong other than that we obviously don’t understand the Scriptures in the way that we should.” Evans says he does not want Family Radio to recalculate and announce a new date for Judgment Day, and that he hopes the organization will repay people who gave money to the cause.”
Wow, great idea! Maybe that would be the beginning of healing for too many people who – without biblical discernment – emptied out their bank and retirement accounts and gave the contents to some guy who has no clue what he is talking about!
If ONLY people would learn from this stupidity. The Bible is clear. Harold Camping is not. The best thing that could happen now is for Camping to have a press conference in which he admits he made a mistake, deeply regrets the trauma he has caused, and will immediately begin to refund money back to those who gave what they had so he could spread his erroneous message. If Camping does this, then lemons might start to turn into lemonade. The world may actually see Christianity at work.
It is clear that people WANT the Bible fulfilled. They want to see God’s promises come to fruition, but no amount of wishing it so will make them happen any sooner than God’s foreordained will. Everything has been planned in the eternal council of Godhead BEFORE the foundations of the earth – everything. Nothing was left up to chance.
The best things Christians can do now is to stop predicting and continue working. It is not wrong to watch and pray as long as we continue to work at the same time. Looking for Jesus is fine. Predicting when He is coming back is wrong and asinine.
I do not sit here thinking about when I’m going to die though I am cognizant of the fact that each day COULD be my last. I think about what I’m supposed to be doing for God TODAY. What is His plan for me NOW?
Harold Camping needs to stick to the basics and forget about trying to use any combination of anything to determine when the Lord is going to return.
He has unfortunately, proven himself to be a false prophet TWICE. Will this be the turning point for him? One can only hope.
