What’s in a Metaphor Anyway?

Were the Israelites right in thinking that the land was quite rich when God used the term “milk and honey”? Was it okay for them to conclude that all their provisions would be met while living on the Land (provided of course, they continued to worship and obey God), or was God merely exaggerating? I think most would agree that their expectations related the Land God was giving them were quite accurate and did not rise above God’s intended expectations. In that way then, they understood the meaning of God’s language about the Land flowing with “milk and honey” quite literally.

What Are We to Think of the Prophets and Apostles that Exist Today? Part 3

God’s plan through Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and the 12 sons of Jacob (who became the patriarchs of Israel) was to establish a nation from which the light of salvation truth would go to the rest of the world. The Mosaic Law, which included the ceremonial, legal, and sacrificial practices of Israel provided evidence that God wanted to restore salvation with all those who would come to Him, embracing the salvation He provided, ultimately through God the Son. None of any of this has anything to do with America. Not one thing, with the exception of people in America being on the receiving end of this same salvation. Israel is the only nation that God deliberately created and specifically for the purpose of unfolding His plan of redemption.

Dispensationalists Are Anti-Semitic?

When the nation of Israel rejected Jesus as Messiah, they were also judged by God. That judgment was fulfilled in A.D. 70 with the complete obliteration of Jerusalem and the Temple. However, what Preterists and others believe is that this was also the Tribulation. In point of fact, it was not the Tribulation and the only way to show that it was, is by completely allegorizing the text of Scripture, ignoring pertinent facts, while whitewashing others.
