Critical Race Theory: Blaming Whites for Racism in Wisconsin

March 20, 2013 at 9:03 AM 6 comments

In yet another example of political correctness taken to extremes, controversial teaching material in at least one Wisconsin school comes right out and blames white people for racism. [1]  That program is called “CREATE Wisconsin” [2] and like many things produced by the politically correct, the title has absolutely nothing to do with the subject matter within the program.  It is a form of subterfuge that the Left has gotten down to a science.

Watch this 20-minute video from the EAG Foundation highlighting what they believe are the problems within the program at Delavan-Darien High School, in Delavan, WI.  As one individual noted after watching the video, “Cultural Marxism at its finest.  Another reason to put your kids in private schools.”

All of this is based on what is known as critical race theory, which gained notoriety in the mid-1980s.  “In critical race theory, white privilege is a set of advantages that are believed to be enjoyed by white people beyond those commonly experienced by non-white people in the same social, political, and economic spaces (nation, community, workplace, income, etc.).

“Theorists differentiate it from racism or prejudice because, they say, a person who may benefit from white privilege is not necessarily racist or prejudiced and may be unaware of having any privileges reserved only for whites.” [3; emphasis added]

Should it be surprising that the main people promoting critical race theory are individuals who are black? [4] Or is that too far removed from the politically correct arena to even allow the question?

So, the white person who allegedly enjoys the benefits of so-called white privilege can do so without even realizing it?  This is a subtle statement to suggest that because a person is white (and for no other reason), jobs come their way, friends come their way, money comes their way, and in short, all manner of opportunities come their way, which generally, do not come to non-whites in similar situations.

If we seriously look at this issue, it should become clear that the only white people who should be actually included in the “white privilege” category are those who are very wealthy and therefore, have power.  The rest of us white folks have no special privileges at all, or power.  We are often at the back of the line because there are so many minorities ahead of us, having been placed their arbitrarily due to their ethnicity.  The belief that because a person is white, they are automatically in the position to receive untold benefits over and above others is not true, yet it is the type of Cultural Marxism that has gained a footing in America, due solely to political correctness.

In essence, critical race theory artificially props up one person while undermining another person’s value solely based on the color of their skin.  Since it is believed that white people are somehow automatically privileged by virtue of the color of their skin (as well as the cause of racism), whites are then normally kept out of the process that other races enjoy because of race.

What is by far the worst part of this is that it is nothing more than a theory propagated largely by minorities against whites, with no real proof used to buttress that theory whatsoever.  It is a sweeping generalization that is not only untrue, but due to its negative connotations, is racist to the core. How can the theory even be proven?

But notice how the above definition goes further to essentially claim that a white person is often the recipient of white privilege without even realizing it? So, as one example, I’m to believe that any job I have ever gotten was due to being white, not because I may have been qualified.  Any minorities who may have applied for that same job were not offered it because of “white privilege.”  Apparently, proof is not needed to establish a program like “CREATE Wisconsin.”  If it simply sounds plausible, that’s good enough.

We have the NAACP, Black Caucus, the Hispanic Caucus, the Woman’s Caucus, other groups that specifically exist to help minorities with jobs and business start ups, and a plethora of additional groups that work to defend the rights of minorities.  This often takes place at the expense of rights for whites, justified on the basis of “white privilege,” which again, is nothing more than a theory put forth by mainly black individuals, and has the trappings of racism.

Years ago, especially within Europe, white families held the reigns with all or most of the power, because they had a good portion of the money.  Yet, there were plenty of other white families who had nothing, who worked like dogs and in many cases, were little more than slaves at best.  They certainly did not benefit from the white families that did have the money and resultant power.  These white people were every bit as undervalued and under appreciated as the next person or family, regardless of race.

Not long after America began, several families like the Vanderbilts, the Carnegies, the Morgans, the Rockefellers, and the Fords did whatever they could to gain and ensure their own wealth, regardless of what it meant for the “little” (white) guy.  They created privilege for themselves through ruthless tactics employed to grow and protect their financial empires.  They didn’t care who they crushed, including their own (white) workers, or other competitors (mainly white at the time).

That same money, power, and privilege has passed down to successive generations today.  The Rockefellers still exist and they are among the richest in this nation and much of the world.  It is the same with all of them.  Because of the wealth they attracted to themselves, they gained tremendous power and with it, tremendous privilege.  (Do some research into eugenics to understand how the Rockefellers worked with people like racist Margaret Sanger, from whom Planned Parenthood came.)

The exact same thing applies today.  People who have lots of money have power and this is not solely a staple of some white people.  Jay-Z, Beyonce, Eddie, Murphy, Dave Chappelle, Chris Rock, and any numbers of black artists or other non-white artists and celebrities have amassed millions of dollars for themselves.  That has allowed them to step into the privileged class of people where the average person (including whites) will never be able to go.

So the bottom line is that it is not race that brings a person privilege anymore.  It is money that buys it and people of all races have money (and that has never been more true than today). It is the money they attract that puts them in the privileged class, not the color of their skin.

The program in Wisconsin notes and asks students, “(R)acism is caused by white people, by our attitudes, behaviors, practices, and institutions … How do you justify it for yourself?” [5]  In one swell swoop, all racism is laid at the feet of the white race, without proof.  The very statement removes people of color from any connection to racism.  It negates the idea that people of color can be racist themselves and even if this is grudgingly admitted, the fault still clearly lies with the white race.  Allegedly, had not white people been racist, racism would not exist in the world.  That is the unmitigated implication.

Yet, there have been all sorts of racist ideas and attitudes, as well as ethnic cleansings in many parts of the world that have nothing to do with white people lording it over minorities.  In Ireland, Protestants and Catholics hate each other and most are white.  (What a great example of Christianity in action, isn’t it?)

In the former Yugoslavia, Serbs and Croats killed each other because of hatred, not the color of their skin. Racial or ethnic hatred is not necessarily dependent on skin color as many within the politically correct arena of the Left in this country want us to believe.

When I taught in the public schools of California, I was disgusted to learn that Hmong and Laotian people hated each other.  The Hmong were “farmers” and “hill people” while the Lao lived in towns and cities.  Therefore, the Lao were far more educated and “civilized” than the Hmong.  The area of California where I lived had large numbers of both groups and you can imagine the tension that existed between them.  Young people from both cultures formed street gangs against the other culture.  They brought their hatred of one another to America.  It had nothing to do with white people.

Throughout history, many ethnic groups joined together to fight other ethnic groups and it was all based on race and some twisted sense of “privilege” that one race allegedly had or exercised over another.  Whites are not the sole proprietors of racism.  All races have racists within them.  Racism itself is a result of the fall of humanity and that is a result of a failure to believe what God has said is truth.

Yet, we have Politically Correct Leftists doing their level best to foment class and racial division within society.  They first want to lay the blame for racism at the feet of the white race, and second, they want the guilt they hope to create within the white person to cause them to willingly take a seat in the back of the bus.  In other words, these Politically Correct Leftists will not be happy until whites are on the constant receiving end of racism while blaming themselves for it at the same time.

However, the real progenitors of  “white privilege,” the Rockefellers, et al, stand in the background heartily laughing at what their privileged status has allowed them to create in society while remaining aloof from it. Their misuse of power is not the fault of whites in general, and whites, as a race, should not be blamed for it or held in contempt simply because the color of our skin happens to match theirs.

How does a program like the one taught at Delavan-Darien High School engender equality or a true understanding of the situation?  It doesn’t, because it is not designed to do that.  It attempts to create lies, along with more stereotypes and negative behavior against whites, stoking the fires of  alleged “privilege.”  Nothing positive can come of this.  Instead, guilt and shame that white students and teachers are supposed to feel for their “privileged” status will be the (hoped for) result.

It does not cease to amaze me how low the politically correct will stoop in order to bring about their desired end.  What they want is not only class warfare (i.e. Occupy Movement), but racial division and warfare as well.

The “experts” will ballyhoo and rally around “CREATE Wisconsin” as the next best thing within the educational morass.  If we could eliminate all the extra garbage that my colleagues and I had to teach, teachers might actually be able to focus on information that would provide every student with the basics that will give them a leg up on life; reading, writing, and math.

Instead, schools have become bureaus of indoctrination where the norm includes a continued glorification of acrimony, upheaval and social distress.  Young people need to stop being the emotional and mental experiment of Cultural Marxists whose real agenda is nothing less than a complete mental makeover to ready them for the coming one-world government.

If this was the type of situation our own children faced when they attended public school, they would have been home-schooled, instead of placed in an environment where the “state” has its constant sway over them.  Parents really need to take heed and know what is being taught in their student’s classrooms.

Political Correctness Says It’s Fine to Satirically Malign Jesus Can Sound Political Theology Produce Civility?

FTA: Contrary to those who might praise Derrick Bell, America is the worse off because of his ideas.

Bell did more than advocate for race-based hiring. He was perhaps the worst Johnny Appleseed of a nasty racialist legal theory called Critical Race Theory. Critical Race Theory, in a nutshell, argues that the law is a weapon of the majority whites to oppress “people of color.” It argues for “structural racism”–the idea that American institutions are aligned against blacks, whether the oppressor is the criminal justice system, a cabdriver without a fare, businesses, government, Domino’s Pizza, banks, or the police.

Critical Race Theory does not view the law as applying equally to all Americans, but advocates for racially unfair implementation of the law to right past injustice.

I need to do more research on this whole area. The idea that American institutions are aligned against blacks is absurd, but I’m sure there are quite a few that believe it, making it all the more sad.

What I’m realizing is that there are obviously many within the white community (if you can call it that) who may not really have a clue as to just how deep this whole belief system goes for many within the black community. In that sense, they are working toward the overthrow of America to their own detriment, without truly understanding the part they play in the whole thing.

We’ll see how things all work out.

Thanks again for this additional information, Sherry.

I like what Dr. Thomas Sowell had to say about CRT’s originator:

FTA: Host George Jarkesy asked Dr. Sowell to enlighten his listeners about the career of Professor Derrick Bell. Dr. Sowell replied that, “It’s a sad story I think…he had some very sensible ideas at one time, one of which was that the integration crusade in itself in the schools was not going to do very much and was barking up the wrong tree”. Dr. Sowell then related that Derrick Bell, “went off the deep end with something called Critical Race Theory”. He stated, “My own take on him is that he was a man put in the wrong place…had he been in some school other than Stanford or Harvard he would have been a valued member of the law school faculty.” But Dr. Sowell stated that he felt Bell embraced Critical Race Theory because Bell was, “not up to that level” and that “his choices were to be to the poor relation or come up with his own shtick and become somebody significant and he went for the latter…

“He has always allied himself with people who polarize society, who think that those who are less fortunate should spend their time resenting those who are more fortunate instead of themselves developing the same ability so that they can become fortunate.”

See what happens when an intellectual snob (Bell) has too much time to thumb twiddle… 😕

I’m hearing one word all through your post. “RACE” I have a very hard time with that word and how it is used by everyone. The way I see it is we are all the Human RACE and every segregated nation and people are just different ethnic and cultural groups. Religion is also a separator of people and nations. All the wars of history are manly caused by religious differences and skin color with differences in facial characteristics and of course proud intellectual superiority.
In all you say it is true that really only $$$$ is what gives privilege over all anywhere in the world! Case in point, Oprah Winfrey maybe the richest African American woman in the country and perhaps the world. The petty squabbles of all the ethnic groups in this country are so emotionally charged that no one of them can use their mind and intelligently work things out. I remember when certain African American groups wanted the government to reimburse them all for slavery. It would seem that welfare has done just that!
A very sad state of affairs has brought us to this time and place in American politics. We know where it’s going and how the people are being manipulated. So sad………

It IS tragic that people are far more race-oriented than anything else. It is ridiculous and pointless and the more people focus on physical differences, the greater the gulf between them becomes.
