The Chosen
If you want to learn more about the Bible or are a visual learner, you would likely benefit from this series, The Chosen. It’s a good tool to invest in to pass along to friends and family who might not otherwise read the Bible or have much to do with church. This is undoubtedly the producers’ intent as well, not simply to put Luke to the screen.
Esther: God’s Sovereignty
The book of Esther provides information on how godly Mordecai helped Esther become the new queen of Persia. It’s a fascinating read and one might wonder, why did Mordecai push Esther into that? Again, the reason becomes clear later on, that Mordecai himself may not have even seen. Initially it appears that Mordecai was simply looking out for a better way of life for Esther. Mordecai had taken Esther in during Nebuchadnezzar’s siege of Jerusalem and during the time her parents had died. Obviously, Mordecai wanted the best for Esther so he gently prodded her to apply herself to becoming the new queen. There were clearly many women who also tried to attain this goal, but for “some” reason, King Ahasuerus was smitten with Esther, whom the Scriptures describe as having a “…beautiful figure and was lovely to look at” (v. 7b)
Solomon’s Huge Mistake
This is a very good time to ask ourselves how we are treating God and whether or not we are taking Him for granted in spite of the many blessings He pours out on us daily. Are we guilty of worshiping other “gods”? Are we toying with the idea of giving our attention and worship that only God deserves to other things that are not only that important but in doing so, are we becoming involved with idolatry? It can happen easily and it happens most often when we feel “satisfied” with our life and the things we have in our life. It is the responsibility of each of us (myself included of course), to ensure that we are not hiding little “gods” in our heart, worshiping them whenever we get the chance. If it can happen to the wisest man who ever lived before Jesus, it can happen to us far more easily.
Faith vs Faithlessness
There are some phenomenal lessons here. First, we must stay in step with God. We cannot run ahead or lag behind. Second, we must obey God in all things, whether we think we can or want to. Third, we must practice humility because that is the only thing that allows us to draw close to Him where He will able to lead us successfully.

Desiring to Live Longer?
Am I ready to go to be with the Lord in eternity? Whenever He calls me home. However, I also know that life is going to get terrible for society as we approach the coming Tribulation and I’d like to be able to live long enough to ensure that our children can face the future relying heavily on God. We have no idea just how bad it will get but if the current problems in society are any indication, it won’t be pretty and will create hardships for many.

Babylon and Its System, Part 4
Those Christians living during the coming Tribulation will be very tempted to become part of the Babylon system – religiously, economically, politically and socially – and may even want to move to that location to be closer to the action. The fact that once destroyed, Babylon becomes a haunt of demons, unclean spirits, birds and beasts probably affirms the fact that this Babylon in Revelation 17/18 is a real, physical place if physical birds and beasts can dwell there.

Babylon and Its System, Part 1
But Babylon is not simply the apostate religious system in all its forms. It also includes and is undergirded by the economic system that holds it up. This is what Revelation 18 is all about as it shows us a Babylon that is an economic system.
Shrouded in Mystery?
I’ve read many articles that discuss the Shroud in comparison to Scripture. Emphasis is placed on the facial cloth (the Sudarium) and strips of linen. I know for instance, that the folks at Sword of the Lord refute the claim that the Shroud is authentic and part of the reason this is done is based on the testimony of Scripture. However, the article below addresses that as well as the historicity, archaeological evidence and the Word of God.

This and That from Around the World
That’s actually been the problem with churches today. I’ve talked to numerous pastors who agree that the church needs to “change,” to update itself, to do whatever it takes to bring the unchurched into the church. But is this the actual goal of the Church itself? In other words, it appears that many have made the Church something that is man-centered instead of God-centered. For too many, the goal or purpose of the Church is to mainly and even solely reach out to the lost of this world and that’s it.
