Sin’s Ongoing Destructive Curse by
One day, this will all be over and we will see Him as He is with our totally renewed mind, glorified body and absolutely no propensity to even think about sinning, much less make a way for sin. While we are here though, we need to realize that we are always only a few steps away from falling away from God due to our sin. While we will not lose our salvation when we sin, we lose other things (fellowship with God and eternal rewards). While God will always extend His forgiveness to the believer, blotting out new sin, He is under no obligation and never promises to blot out the circumstances our sin creates.
Zechariah’s First Vision
This exploratory mission by the riders seems to be related to the rebuilding of Jerusalem and other cities in Judah. Their purpose was to examine the work of God’s people to see what they were doing. Interestingly enough, many monarchs used messengers on steeds to travel throughout their kingdoms and report back. God does the same…not that He needs to do this because He already knows all things, but it is a sign of His direct involvement in the affairs of Israel and the world.

God’s Hidden Hand
What is fascinating about all of this – at least to me – is the fact that when these things occurred several thousand years ago, it all looked very human or naturally occurring to the outside observer, with one empire growing to the point of being able to conquer neighboring empires or cities and absorb them into that growing kingdom. It is the human way of life due to our sin nature and the curse on Creation. Someone must be top dog it seems.

News and Notes Sept 18
All this said, I think (and I’m only guessing based on the information available), that something big is on the horizon. I don’t know what it is or when to expect it. Russia using nukes, possibly directed at USA? Iran/Hezbollah raining down everything they have on Israel? I have no idea but it’s very possible and even likely that God will allow things to worsen drastically because of His coming wrath and judgment. The USA deserves judgment just like every other nation throughout history that laughed at God and turned their backs on Him. We did that in earnest beginning in 2008.

Quick Update
I honestly have to marvel at God’s timing. It is what makes God’s will truly His own. When we read the Scriptures and come across verses and sections that highlight near future events and far future events, we can get caught up into thinking that things aren’t turning out the way God wants them to turn out. This, of course, is nonsense. Since God is outside of our time and can come into it and leave it without being affected by it, everything to God is happening right now. This is one reason the cross is always before Him. He sees everything in the past, the present and the future all at once. So to Him, things are truly just around the corner. For us, things take time to work out.
Babylon Rising Pt 2
But let’s not kid ourselves, please. Things will continue to worsen. This is the spirit of Babylon and though the original Tower of Babel was destroyed and the original city of Babylon (as well as the kingdom itself), was completely destroyed in ancient history, the ideology they were built on has never been destroyed. It has remained and Satan has continued in the spiritual realm to grow the spirit of Babylon throughout the world in order to gain control of the entire world in the final one world global order of Daniel 2.
Shepherds For Sale?
The fact that much within evangelicalism has seemingly taken a consistent turn away from conservatism toward Leftism is something that many continue to deny. The problem is that many of the leaders she quotes and/or refers to are at times difficult to pin down. The reason they are difficult to pin down is not necessarily because they are more intelligent than the rest of us. It has much more to do with the fact that those folks are what I call “nuancers.” In other words, they choose their words so carefully that the actual meaning is often left up to the listener to decide what they actually meant.
A Call to Repentance from Zechariah
Like many prophets of the Old Testament, the message Zechariah gave to the people of Israel/Judah was one of hope but required something from them. Like most today, people often do not want to repent because it means relying on something or Someone outside themselves for deliverance. Ever since the fall, humanity has become more and more inward, conceited and arrogant, following in the footsteps of Satan himself.

Has God Vacated?
And so it goes from one empire to another. Following Nebuchadnezzar’s death, eventually his grandson Belshazzar (Daniel 5), took the throne. He made a huge mistake, one that appeared to be either unforgiveable to God or God simply knew the king would not repent of his wickedness. This resulted in God’s judgment using the Medes and Persians. They were upcoming while Babylon was on its way to being destroyed.
What God Wants
Recently, I had the opportunity to help a grandmother, who is a widow and raising two grandsons. Both grandsons have somewhat serious learning disabilities and the youngest one tends toward violence as well. The widow’s husband died a number of years ago and the widow lives on a very small pension of just over $800/month. The (mobile) home they were living in is coming down around them (or should I say, was?).
