False Teachers and Prophets, Part 1

It is extremely important for Christians to use discernment and wisdom. That happens when we are well-versed in the Scriptures and have drawn and remain close to the Lord. It is the best defense against all false teachers and prophets.

Leading the Sheep Toward Romanism

For several years seen a growing embrace of aspects of Roman Catholicism from well-known and influential speakers and authors within Protestantism including Beth Moore, Rick Warren, Kenneth Copeland, Randy Clark, Bill Johnson, the late Tony Parker, and too many others to list here. It almost seems as though these folks believe their mandate is not so much the Great Commission of Jesus (Matthew 28), as it is to help unify all people under the umbrella of the Roman Catholic Church. They do so under the guise of simply desiring to include those within Catholicism regardless of theological differences, even though those differences are the very things that keep us apart and unable to worship together.

It’s All About Experiencing God Today, Not About Obedience

Our relationship with Jesus is based (or should be based) on how we act (think, speak, and live = love), because of what we know from His Word. Because we are grateful and because we love Him for what He accomplished on our behalf (not to mention the fact that we love Him only because He first loved us; 1 John 4:19), we should certainly want to live the way that pleases Him, whether we feel like it all the time or not. None of this depends on how we feel about our relationship with Him. The relationship exists (if we are truly saved), whether we feel it or not and we should not need to wait until we feel something before we are obedient. I’m married, whether I feel it or not so I act accordingly and it is based on my commitment to my wife. The same applies to our relationship with the Lord.

What Are We to Think of the Prophets and Apostles that Exist Today? Part 2

I’ve named a few names and I’d like to name more. But naming names is not the actual point. Doing so can become a distraction and can easily turn into an argument over a person instead of their theology. I don’t want a person to take center stage because that’s not the purpose of this series. What I am doing is trying to present what I believe is aberrant theology so that all people who espouse that theology can be avoided, but it’s too easy for people to take sides over a personality rather than deal with a personality’s theology.

Watch Out for Those Who Teach God Speaks to Them, Pt 2

Every time I read of a prophet (or apostle) or even just an average person in Scripture seeing the Incarnate Christ in His splendor, that individual falls over as though dead! There are a few examples in the Bible where Jesus appears in pre-incarnate visage where His deity is essentially clothed or hidden from view so that He mainly looks like another man and those individuals (like Abraham) don’t pass out or go into a coma.

Watch Out for Those Who Teach God Speaks to Them, Pt 1

Today, it is not necessarily tongues that we are hearing about, but authority that is being claimed. Let’s face it, anyone who is bold enough to say that God told them something is really also claiming an authority that biblically speaking, only the prophets and apostles truly possessed. Moreover, even though the last of the actual apostles died out, there is an apostolic movement today in which people alive now are claiming to have that same apostolic authority. Yes, some people living today have actually come out stating they are full-fledged apostles.
