Watch Out for Those Who Teach God Speaks to Them, Pt 1
Today, it is not necessarily tongues that we are hearing about, but authority that is being claimed. Let’s face it, anyone who is bold enough to say that God told them something is really also claiming an authority that biblically speaking, only the prophets and apostles truly possessed. Moreover, even though the last of the actual apostles died out, there is an apostolic movement today in which people alive now are claiming to have that same apostolic authority. Yes, some people living today have actually come out stating they are full-fledged apostles.
Are Revelations and Speaking from the Holy Spirit Real Today?
Do you have any resources, articles, etc., on how to address women at my church who believe God gives them “revelations” and the Holy Spirit “speaks” to them? There are only a few of them, and while they seem to be sincere Christians, they also appear to be way out there on these topics!

I just turned 55 and when I was in my late teens (in some ways, it seems like yesterday), I was involved somewhat in the Charismatic Renewal that swept parts of the world. Looking back, I cringe now at some of what I saw, was taught, and even some of what I believed. Before I go any further, I’m not knocking you if you are still involved in aspects of the Charismatic Movement. That’s your choice and while I disagree theologically with it in its entirety, I hope that have thoroughly searched the Scriptures to determine the truth of it.
