Perspective on Coronavirus

Derek, a brother in Christ recently sent me his take on the Coronavirus and I’ve incorporated his comments in this article. It is a very difficult thing to deal with what is happening in America today because it is so unprecedented. While America has experienced plenty of national health issues, this is really the first time that our society has been forced to shut down and shelter in place because of it.
Our economy has never shutdown before, certainly not by government intervention. Our churches were not told to cease meeting. Businesses considered “non-essential” were not told to shutter their doors. In the face of all previous health concerns, Americans muscled on and overcame. Common sense was used by people and when they felt ill, they remained home and/or went to a doctor.
Does this mean all people survived in previous health crises? No, not at all. Many died. In fact, in 2010, “According to the CDC from April 2009 to April 2010 there were about 60.8 million cases of the swine flu with 12,469 deaths in the United States.” [1]
Did you catch that? Over 60 million cases of Swine Flu (H1N1), with just under 13,000 deaths! Why didn’t we hear about “overburdened” hospitals at that time? Why wasn’t the National Guard or the Reserves called out to help during that crisis as they are being called out now? Why weren’t we told to shelter in place?
My friend, Derek, writes the following (I’ve added bold to certain portions for emphasis):
There’s a news media in place and it’s very good at creating false narratives. Really false. The type of false narrative that can only be found on a episode of RuPaul’s Drag Race or in select areas in San Francisco where everyone must agree that somehow a man becomes a woman if he puts socks in his chest and walks around in a wig and lip stick on.
As you read this, I have mixed emotions on the coronavirus. On one hand, I’m concerned the news media (who tow the line for their owners) are creating a sense of hysteria to advance an agenda. There is an old saying that says you should “never let a good crisis go to waste.” The idea being that a crisis is an opportunity to pass laws that would not pass otherwise. There are some super rich gazillionaires just like Pinky and the Brain who have a sincere desire to control the world, and many of our political leaders support their drive toward a New World Order, One World Government, which is why I think we should be wary about this global lockdown and any new laws restricting our freedom. The danger is that it’s priming people, mentally, to accept this as something that is perfectly normal. This is what they call psychological “softening” to get people to accept the idea.
Note: The best remedy for any hysteria is perspective. At the time of this article, there’s been 39 deaths from coronavirus in Canada, vs. about 3,500 deaths each year from the flu. In the United States, there’s been 1,382 deaths from coronavirus, while 34,157 people died of the flu last year in the U.S. and 61,000 the year before that. Italy, the hardest hit country, has a total of 8,215 deaths, while more than 68,000 deaths were attributed to the flu between 2013 and 2017. The seasonal flu kills 291,000 to 646,000 people worldwide each year. As of March 27, 2020, coronavirus had killed 25,421 people globally. Links to these statistics are below. Of course, I’m not suggesting that we shouldn’t be concerned about coronavirus. I could get it. Millions could die. But in terms of real numbers, many are wondering if the haste with which government took over was really about saving lives.
On the other hand, I think we’re living in the end times and pestilence (infectious disease) is one of the indications that the last days are here. The Bible plainly states that Jesus will return. When asked by His disciples: “What shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?” (Matthew 24:3), Jesus lists a sequence of events that will precede His return and false christs, wars, famines, pestilences and earthquakes are mentioned. Jesus said: “For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many. And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places. All these are the beginning of sorrows.” Matthew 24:6-8
Now these events are nothing new, but Jesus doesn’t mention just one false Christ, one war, one famine, and just one pestilence and earthquake, but many, and they will be in diverse (different) places. It seems to me they will intensify as we draw closer to His return, so let’s see how the coronavirus plays out and what follows. It’s simple though. All we do is keep our eyes on Israel. That’s the Biblical timeline. We know Jesus’ return is near when the Jewish people regather to their land and that happened in 1948 (Ezekiel 11:17). Since then, God’s time clock has started ticking (Zechariah 12:3, 9-10) and I encourage you to study that carefully. In the meantime, check out this clip of Rahm Emanuel below, the former chief of staff to President Obama talking about never letting a good crisis go to waste, and God bless you is my prayer in these troublesome times. ~ Derek

Thank you, Derek for allowing me to reprint your thoughts here. In reality, it is all about perspective and that seems to be lacking in society today. We are rushing to judgment based on fear and panic. Collectively, we are not thinking clearly. We are allowing panic to replace discernment.
I know one thing with certainty. My time to die is up to God. I can literally live the remainder of my life in poor health if I choose. Not that many years ago, my heart doctor told me that if he was not able to get my high blood pressure under control, I would likely die of congestive heart failure. Did that mean I would die “sooner” than God wanted me to die? I don’t believe so. It means that for the remainder of my life until my appointment with death, my health would be terrible and I would increasingly struggle to live a quality of life. I was, at that time, 100 pounds overweight, which certainly was a contributing factor to my high blood pressure.
I vividly remember those days when my health was so poor. Because of it, I always felt “sick” and I was probably always fighting off something. I just never felt “well.” My poor immune system was doing its best but because of the garbage I ate and drank (sodas with high fructose corn syrup, etc.), I was literally destroying my physical body, the Temple of the Holy Spirit.
People today look at someone and think, “Hey, they’re not fat so they must be healthy.” Not so. People who are thin can be unhealthy as well and have underlying health issues that they are not even aware of.
The same heart doctor who told me that I might die of congestive heart failure is now dead. He died at approximately 35 years of age several years ago, due to a congenital heart defect that even he did not know of. Yet, to look at him, one would think he was the epitome of a healthy young man; thin, in good shape outwardly, etc.
He was one of the over 150,000 people that died the same day he did. That translates to roughly 6,500 deaths per HOUR every day. Consider that for a moment, will you? Do you know when you’ll die? Right now, you’re probably thinking that if you’re not careful, Coronavirus will kill you. What about everything else in society that can kill you? What about the fact that God has established your day/time of death?
Regarding Coronavirus, the common consensus today is that we must shelter in place in order to stave off and defeat this “novel” (every new virus is “novel”), virus. In essence, we must remain physically distant from other people so that our own health (or theirs), is not impacted negatively.
I recall when I was younger and another kid had the measles, our parents wanted us to play near that kid so that we would get it and overcome it. Of course, now there are vaccines that allegedly take care of that but we have proof in recent times that they don’t necessarily do that. However, they do enrich the people who create the vaccines. By the way, if you are one who receives vaccinations, that’s totally up to you. I’m not condemning you for it nor am I applauding your decision. What I am applauding is your freedom to choose, which may become a thing of the past with this Coronavirus situation.
But let’s consider some medical voices regarding Coronavirus and the alleged need to literally withdraw from society in order to “protect” ourselves from diseases.
First of all, colds, the flu and many viruses (along with other health hazards), constantly roam around society looking for hosts in people. Those who have weak or comped immune systems are at greater risk. Those with strong immune systems are at lower risk.
Isn’t it ironic how atheists will express “concern” for people’s lives yet, they also believe in survival of the fittest and have no problem with murdering unborn children to the tune of thousands each day? Go figure.
In an article, Former Ministry of Health director-general Prof. Yoram Lass has some interesting things to say and while I do not agree with his take 100% (especially with respect to the elderly), I think I understand his point. He says he, “feels that it is wrong to shut down the entire country because of a virus that is ultimately less of a killer than the flu.” [2] Interesting. He believes that Coronavirus is essentially less harmful of a killer than the flu. If we consider the fact that, according to the CDC, “647,000 people were hospitalized and 61,200 died, [3] during the 2018-2019 flu season, this may actually be truth that bears itself out. That’s a lot of people yet society was not shut down, people didn’t lose their jobs, hospitals were apparently not overwhelmed, and essentially life went on. If someone got sick, they stayed home.
In another ten page article, we read, “Christians must keep in mind that the majority of public health and other government officials currently guiding their populaces (and actually terrorizing them in many jurisdictions) regarding the coronavirus pandemic are immersed in the dominant
worldview of our culture: atheistic materialism.” [4]
This is so true. We are being “informed” by godless people in large measure and may very well be wrong. Too often, these people are blind guides leading the blind and if you dare question them, you are ostracized, vilified or both.
I would encourage readers to read through that ten page report, written by a board certified cardiologist because it is eye-opening. Starting on page three of the report, Dr. Daniel O’Roark, DO, FACC, Cardiologist, Jonesborough, TN breaks things down in bulleted fashion to help us understand that this Coronavirus may not be as “novel” as we are being led to believe. This is all under the heading “COVID-19 (SARS-CoV-2) Analysis.”
Dr. O’Roark states, “The most recent data suggests that people who come in close contact with a CV infected patient (without PPE), will become infected at a rate of 1-5%. This low infection rate is consistent with the view that CV is NOT, despite hysterical assertions to the contrary, highly contagious (much like influenza but unlike measles).”
If Dr. O’Roark is correct, then we are being LIED to and not only is the mainstream media culpable, but those who fail to do their own research and simply pass along what the MSM tells them are also culpable. Again, please READ the entire ten page report.
I know that these articles will not end the debate. Understand that I am not dispensing medical information, but simply providing my own opinion on articles and information I have researched regarding Coronavirus.
The bottom line for me is this: why is this being pushed by the MSM and their sycophants so hard? The simple answer may be that we are in an election year and the Left is trying to do everything they can to ensure that President Trump is not re-elected. It also may have to do with our government seeking more control over society and may come to include mandatory vaccinations for the populace.
Each person will have to decide for themselves. I will say this…if you are not a healthy person, your immune system is already compromised and weak. In that case, just like during a flu epidemic, you might choose to avoid people and quite possibly remain inside as much as possible until this blows over. That is up to you, unless you live in an area that has already determined it for you.
Again, I will also say, all of society should NOT be quarantined on the belief that all MIGHT get sick. Quarantining people should be done for the SICK only, not the WELL.

I don’t trust this Dr. Fauci one bit. I agree with your views on the media but what baffles me is WHY IS PRESIDENT TRUMP GOING ALONG WITH THIS? I like much of what he is doing (outside of this virus) but this is beyond the pale. Great article, as always.

Perhaps a game changer!!!
Dr. Daniel O’Roark, DO, FACC, Cardiologist, Jonesborough, TN breaks things down in bulleted fashion to help us understand that this Coronavirus may not be as “novel” as we are being led to believe. Bingo!!!
To that point, not sure if you caught it but last night on Laura Ingraham’s show there was with an ICU doctor, Dr. Stephen Smith as a guest. He’s had a decent number of patients wind up on vents with this virus. Every single one was overweight or obese and either diabetic or pre-diabetic…all of them, 100%.
He’s now started at admission treating all with hydroxychloroquine and Zpak and since starting that program immediately on admission says he has not had one wind up on a vent.

It would seem there is at least some early success in how to mange this outbreak.

Thanks Taylor. I had not heard about Ingraham’s show/guest.
While this is happening, Dr. Fauci is saying we’ll know when we can relax restrictions when there are no new COVID-19 cases, which seems completely absurd to me.
Yes, the ppl who are getting ill most often are those underlying health issues but MSM will not tell us that but it’s the reality with ALL colds, viruses and the flu.
