GABA, GABA, Doo, Part 4

Are you getting the picture that if you fail at taking care of your health, it will be disastrous? Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but eventually, your immune system will start to break down and will be unable to keep track and tabs on all the things that are starting to go wrong in your system. It would be like using the dirtiest gasoline you can find to fill your tank or never-changing your oil. Eventually, your car’s engine would start to break down. There are enough normal maintenance issues with any vehicle but the last thing you want is to have to replace your engine because you didn’t put the right fuel into it.

GABA, GABA, Doo, Part 3

I had ballooned up to 255 pounds with a nearly 44 inch waist. I’m only 5′ 7″ tall, so clearly, I was obese. Not good. Today, I am down to 193 pounds and almost into a size 36″ waist. To me that’s remarkable especially when I tell you that I have not tried to lose weight. Once I began eliminating things from my diet, the extra pounds started to evaporate. All this has led me to believe that our bodies will do what is best for us, if we cooperate with our bodies. I believe that eventually, my body will simply level off at the weight it is supposed to be at, without me having to worry about “dieting.”

Christ, Our Fellowship, Part 16

We were made to fellowship with God (1 Corinthians 1:9). That is our primary purpose. God wants us to come to Him, to talk with Him, to rely on Him, to understand that apart from Him, we can do nothing. He knows our frame. Sometimes, the best way to ensure that we come to Him on a daily basis is to give us less than quality health so that we are forced to trust and rely on Him. Too many do not do this. Too many simply complain about their “lot” in life, but continue to eat the foods and practice the things that contributed to their ill-health in the first place. In at least some cases, poor health is totally caused by what we ingest and how we live. God wants better for us and that can often be a process.
