Our Standing and Progress in the Faith: Justification

So what does this result in for the Christian? We know that God declares us righteous because we are justified in Him. We are justified not on our own merit but solely because of what Jesus has accomplished on our behalf. God did it. We did nothing. We only came to exercise faith in what Jesus accomplished and then only when God “woke” us to that truth (John 6:44; cf also 14:6 and 2 Corinthians 5:21).

Proverbs is Filled with Comparisons Between Righteous and Unrighteous

The Bible constantly compares the righteous to the unrighteous. Read the Proverbs or the Psalms to gain a greater understanding of how God sees these two groups. Then ask yourself if you have been declared righteous by God Himself. That can only occur when you place your faith in Christ’s finished work on your behalf. You’re agreeing that you cannot save yourself and only by placing your faith in Jesus can you be saved at all, from an eternity without God. Romans 5:1 tells us, “Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.” We are justified because of faith in God, not because of works (Ephesians 2:8-10).

Christ, Our Righteousness, Part 11

Paul says that no unrighteous person will inherit the Kingdom of God. This is what we were before we received salvation from the Master’s hand! We were absolutely and pitiably unrighteous with no ability to help ourselves!! But just like those within the Corinthian church, once we received salvation through Christ, we stopped being seen by God unrighteous and were declared righteous! But guess what? I can still do unrighteous things and so can you!

How Will I React When I Actually See Jesus the First Time?

Folks, if you think you will initially stand in His Presence waiting to hear “Good job!”, think again. You will initially most likely be so aware of your own sin and failures that you will likely become undone. It will only be in God’s reminder that we have been declared righteous that will help us to stand at all and only after He wipes away the tears brought on by tremendous sadness at how many times we failed Him in this life. Then, we will be prepared to hear the words, “Good job!” but knowing that anything “good” we did was only during those times we allowed Him to work in and through us for His glory.

Does THE Church Need to Be Purified?

God has freed me from the Law of sin and death. He lives within me and because of that, I can overcome sin. Because I will never do it perfectly in this life, does not negate the fact that I am a Christian, nor does it somehow sully Christ or His Bride. That is absurd, and the quicker believers get to the point of realizing that beating ourselves up is wrong, because it denies the full efficacy of Christ’s redemption, the quicker we begin focusing on the reality of our new birth and His presence within us.

It is nothing but a form of godliness without the power.
