Proverbs is Filled with Comparisons Between Righteous and Unrighteous

Following my daily Bible reading plan, I began reading the Proverbs a number of days ago and what has always been interesting to me is how much many of the proverbs are based simply in common sense. It’s almost childlike in its approach to life at times, leaving one to wonder did the people during Solomon’s day not have even a basic understanding of common sense? Solomon had to tell them?

Even in the biblical example from 1 Kings 3:16-28, I find it incredulous. There Solomon makes a difficult decision between two women. One woman says the other woman’s baby died during the night so she switched the babies. The other woman denies the charge and says it was the other woman whose baby died and switched. Seems like a stand-off. Solomon weighs in and orders the baby cut in half with one half given to each woman. The fake mother thinks that’s a great idea, while the real mother pleads for the life of the child and says the other woman can have the child.

Solomon rightly determines that the mother who did not care if the child was cut in half was not the real mother and awards custody of the child to the real mother. I have a few concerns here and not over what Solomon did. My concern is the level of depravity with the woman who turned out to be the fake mother. She was absolutely fine with Solomon ordering his guards to cut the baby in half, effectively killing the child, so that neither woman had her own child. We tend to see abortionists and those who receive abortions as a matter of routine as completely heartless individuals. They seem not to have a soul because they are literally murdering the unborn person and seem to have no problem with it.

Here is a woman from several thousand years ago who exhibited the very same attitude and demeanor but toward a child who had already been born. This is absolutely unconscionable to me. How does a woman who understands the entirety of carrying a child, giving birth, and caring for that child, become so callous and hateful that she prefers another living child to be killed? How does that happen?

The book of Proverbs is replete with one example or saying after another regarding the path or trail taken by both the righteous and the unrighteous. Bear in mind, a person was considered “righteous” in the Old Testament not by what they did but by their faith in God that caused them to act in a certain way. This is very clear throughout the Bible and especially in Hebrews 11, the Hall of Faith or Faith in Action chapter. James brings this out as well when he states quite succinctly that faith without works or action is dead (James 2:17). A righteous person (so declared by God through faith), is a person who acts accordingly. An unrighteous person also acts accordingly. It is also important to remember that even a righteously declared person still sins from time to time. An unrighteous person sins a great deal more. What is the difference between the way the two different people act after sinning? The righteous person senses remorse and wants to do what is right to correct their behavior and not do the same thing again. The unrighteous person couldn’t care less. For them, the ends justifies the means.

As stated, Proverbs is filled with statements and truisms that reflect how the righteous man lives. Here are just a couple of them.

Whoever walks in uprightness fears the Lord,
but he who is devious in his ways despises him. – Proverbs 14:2 ESV

A faithful witness does not lie,
but a false witness breathes out lies. – Proverbs 14:5 ESV

There is a way that seems right to a man,
but its end is the way to death. – Proverbs 14:12 ESV

A truthful witness saves lives,
but one who breathes out lies is deceitful. – Proverbs 14:25 ESV

The tongue of the wise commends knowledge,
but the mouths of fools pour out folly. – Proverbs 15:2 ESV

The lips of the wise spread knowledge;
not so the hearts of fools. – Proverbs 15:7 ESV

Of course, the above referenced texts are small representations of all of the wisdom within the Proverbs. There is a great deal of repetition presented in different ways, using many examples. Ultimately, the liars, fools, and unrighteous of this world will pass away and their names will be remembered no more. Only those labeled or declared righteous by God will live in His Presence eternally.

We see many examples of the unrighteous making foolish decisions and lying to subvert truth and they do this on a daily basis. @CNN is prime example of this yet in spite of it all, many on the Left either downplay completely or excuse @CNN’s less than altruistic behavior and “reporting.”

For instance, recently an individual produced a satirical GIF (video) of President Trump as a pro-wrestler taking down CNN. For thinking people it was clearly satire mocking the network. As it turns out, CNN did what they could to find out the identity of the Reddit user who created the GIF. There are a number of stories as to how this occurred, with people like Andrew Kaczynski, a reporter at CNN, stating that no one threatened anyone and how the creator of the GIF approached CNN first with apology, etc. Ultimately, each person will decide for themselves what the truth is, but given CNN’s track record of attacking Trump with lies, innuendo, and hearsay since before the inauguration, it’s a safe bet for thinking people that CNN is trying desperately to downplay their part in tracking down the individual who created the GIF.

Note CNN’s statement on the situation here. Their statement says that the originator of GIF (HanA**holeSolo), without being prompted issued an apology and then contacted CNN. Notice the one line highlighted in pink below the other pink highlighted paragraph: “CNN reserves the right to publish his identity should any of this change.” Many take this as a veiled threat. In other words, CNN seems to be saying that if HanA**holeSolo makes any further GIFs or videos depicting CNN as being pummeled by Trump, they will publish the man’s identity. Why would they do this? Well, for one thing, is it difficult to believe that members of AntiFa or simply others who hate Trump and his supporters would not seek the individual out to do harm to him or his family? It’s absolutely not beyond the realm of possibility and by CNN including this statement, they are actually threatening the man whether they admit to it or not.

But the hacking group variously called “Anonymous” or “4Chan” has additional information on this situation. Of course, the question is whether what they have is true or not. They are called 4Chan because originally, the hacking group Anonymous was based on the 4Chan server. Needless to say, their claim, if true, casts huge doubts on CNN’s statement. According to 4Chan hacker’s group, Time Warner (owners of CNN) used their influence to gain the user’s identity of his Reddit account, then threatened him in a form of extortion by stating they would release his identity to the world and the chips would fall where they might.

If what 4Chan says is accurate, then clearly, CNN is lying. Even if we completely discount the claims of 4Chan, it is clear from CNN’s own statement that they used a form of coercion against the originator of the GIF file to keep him from making any others. As stated before satire is normally protected under the First Amendment, so even though the creator of the GIF used the CNN logo, the entire premise was satire. Nonetheless, CNN wants to shut down this type of free speech because it makes them look bad. Of course, others within the fake news arena are crying over the possibility that Trump is encouraging violence against the media. This is laughable considering it was information in the media that gave shooter Hodginkson, the shooter of GOP members at the baseball practice game, the needed info to know where to look for them. It has also been the lies that the media has been engaged in against the Trump Administration that has prompted such a backlash against Trump by the Fascist Left. Moreover, the media doesn’t seem to care whether their lies encourage countries like North Korea to continue their nuclear and ballistic missile tests in what seems to be an amping up of warmongering.

Even more discouraging is the fact that the same media that decries President Trump’s use of Twitter to speak directly to the American people, has no problem supporting a play in which a Trump look-a-like is assassinated ala Julius Caesar. It also took CNN just over a day to decide that they should dump Kathy Griffin who held up a severed head of President Trump in what she called an “art” project. Interestingly enough, the Squatty Potty company took far less time than CNN did to sever ties with Kathy Griffin over the debacle. That should tell you something.

This is the problem with liars and the unrighteous in general. The things they say and the things they do are all for their own self-aggrandizement. While they enjoy the full benefits of free speech, they do not want anyone who opposes them or has opposing viewpoints to enjoy that same degree of free speech. CNN effectively shut down HanA**holeSolo with a not-so-veiled threat to expose his identity (called “doxing” on the ‘Net). Kathy Griffin cried that Trump “broke” her because she lost her job with Squatty Potty and was also fired by CNN. No one forced her to hold up a severed, bloody head of America’s current president. Had the same thing occurred under Obama, the same type of consequences should have happened and rightly so. This type of “unrighteous” behavior is never okay.

The interesting thing with this CNN debacle is that while they were successful in shutting down one individual, social media is lighting up with many others who refuse to be silenced. Is CNN going to go after all of them? Doubtful.

CNN is a headline fake news organization. They have retracted several stories (usually in fine print), over their egregious error. They have built huge conspiracies around lies and innuendo and yet they want to be taken seriously as a news organization. They cannot have it both ways.

People would have started respecting CNN had they had a little laugh at the satirical ribbing from HanA**hole Solo. Instead, they became indignant and found a way to “unmask” the individual, threatening to expose his identity to the world. CNN says that the GIF encourages violence against the media. This is patently untrue. The only violence happening today is against Trump and his supporters. If it comes to the point where people in the media find themselves on the receiving end of assaults, it will be because people will have grown fully sick and tired of the lies and attacks against Trump and those who support him.

I’m not saying that this would be right or correct. I’m simply saying that I’m sure there are people in society who are so fed up with all the lies constantly emitted from the media that they may decide to do something about it. If it happens, it will not be President Trump’s fault. The fault will remain with those who, instead of accepting the results of the presidential election, are doing everything they can to obfuscate and stall any progress President Trump is trying to make for the people of America.

In large part today, the media has become Big Brother, constantly attempting to brainwash people who cannot think for themselves into thinking that Trump is a traitor to America and he needs to be impeached. The “news” media are a living and constant example of unrighteous people living lies and encouraging others to believe those lies.

CNN, MSNBC, NBC, ABC, CBS, and other main line news bureaus for too long have spread lies and innuendo while they have dutifully ignored the many alleged problems and illegalities connected with the Obama Administration and Hillary. While they can apparently dig to find out the true identity of a Reddit user, they can’t determine actual truth regarding the Russia conspiracy and from recently released undercover videos, it’s clear that the whole Russia situation is a big “nothing burger,” yet they continue to push it because it’s ratings gold. In essence, they’re lying and push those lies for money.

Unrighteous people eventually destroy themselves, often long before they leave this world. It’s happening to CNN in real-time, but there’s plenty of ways for the Left to obfuscate and prolong things and it is amazing how many on the Left continue to truly believe that there is something to the Russia thing. They are blinded by their own hatred.

The Bible constantly compares the righteous to the unrighteous. Read the Proverbs or the Psalms to gain a greater understanding of how God sees these two groups. Then ask yourself if you have been declared righteous by God Himself. That can only occur when you place your faith in Christ’s finished work on your behalf. You’re agreeing that you cannot save yourself and only by placing your faith in Jesus can you be saved at all, from an eternity without God. Romans 5:1 tells us, “Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.” We are justified because of faith in God, not because of works (Ephesians 2:8-10).

Being declared righteous is our new standing before God. It does not mean we will never sin again; we will. It simply means that our sin will no longer define us before God.

I hope you have been declared righteous by God. If so, you need to live in a way that is in keeping with God’s declaration of you.
