Oklahoma Law Against Shariah Law Put on Hold by Judge

Just today, shortly after the election results in which a new amendment was overwhelmingly passed by voters of the state of Oklahoma, “Judge Vicki Miles-LaGrange ruled Monday morning in Oklahoma City following a brief hearing. It prevents the state election board from certifying the results of Tuesday’s general election in which the amendment was approved by 70 percent of the voters.” [1]
It has to amaze you as it does me that these things can garner enough signatures to be placed on the ballot to begin with (or authored by a state representative), then passed by legal voting, only to be tossed, or put on hold by some judge sitting on some bench, in some courtroom.
We have seen this happen with California, Arizona, and now Oklahoma. Truly, I DO understand the process. Every new law has to be judged according to its constitutionality, but it is interesting how these laws are backed by the majority of the populace in each state, only to be told that the justice system must deliberate to determine its validity.
The same article indicated that Muneer Awad, director for the Oklahoma chapter of CAIR (Council on American-Islamic Relations) stated that he believes the new law “stigmatizes” his religion.
That is not correct. What stigmatizes his religion (Islam) are a couple of things:
- Shariah Law itself
- Radical Muslims
Shariah Law is something to be embarrassed by, not proud of, yet there are radical Muslims by the truckload worldwide who quickly brandish their swords, or knives, or what-have-you, in order to quickly fulfill some part of Shariah Law against someone. Whether they are chopping off a hand, a head, or lobbing stones, radical Muslims are out to change America.
It would not do to have states in the United States outlaw Shariah Law because it would preempt radical Muslims from getting their way. Muneer Awad has simply proven to America that he is not a moderate, but a radical Muslim in moderate Muslim clothing.
Like all radical Muslims, he hates America because it represents to Islam the Great Satan, which must be destroyed. Since we have a growing population of Muslims in this country, their desire to destroy it means to change it from within, not to do physical damage to this country or its citizens.
But there is another thing that is actually GOOD about the fact that many Muslims are coming to America. They represent the mission field and because they are here, it becomes much easier to witness to them and evangelize them.
Currently, like everyone outside of Christianity, these poor souls are lost. They are on their way to an eternity without God and without Christ. They do not have salvation, but like all other religions, must earn it by working for it. In Islam, salvation – such as it is – must be gained by pleasing Allah. This is accomplished by doing things that will make Allah happy enough to bestow salvation upon you.
Christianity, on the other hand, is the ONLY religion whereby the Founder – Jesus – took on the form of a man, lived a sinless life, and died for the sins of the world. That salvation, which is the result of His life, death, and resurrection, is offered completely free, with absolutely no strings attached. In spite of this, the majority of people find that difficult if not impossible to believe.
How can something so good be so free? That is what makes Christianity so valuable. Jesus offers FREE salvation that is eternal, for anyone who asks. If you believe in your heart that Jesus is God and that He rose from the dead in order that you might have life eternal, salvation is yours. Of course that seems absurd because every other system says in some form, “No, you have to earn it.”
Muslims are here to stay and they will continue to use the U.S. Constitution to turn the laws in their favor. The recent lawsuit by CAIR is a case in point. This amendment does not stigmatize Awad’s religion. It is already stigmatized by the radicals running around beheading and killing whom they will, in Allah’s name. Notice that Awad has no seeming problem with that, but only with a law that will make it impossible for judges to use Shariah Law in their decision-making process.
Muneer Awad, like all other radical Muslims, has an eye on the prize of overcoming the United States from within. The reality is that while we can maintain a stop-gap presence against Shariah Law, our overwhelming priority should be the Great Commission and that applies to all Muslims, even Muneer Awad.
