TSA Techniques: Obama Says They Are Necessary But Frustrating.

How would President Obama know that the TSA techniques are frustrating?  At best, he can know it from a distance, but not personally.  It’s getting ridiculous, frankly.

Here in America, it is now becoming the norm to be subjected to either a full “nude” body scan, or enhanced pat down, which some travelers who have endured the experience indicate that it’s more of a groping.  Of course, TSA denies this and states that it must do this to enhance security measures.

The truth of course, is that not once has the TSA caught any terrorist BEFORE they have boarded a plane.  They SAY they have found so many things and point to the plethora of knives, cutting tools and other things as proof.  I have my doubts that it’s true.  The number of knives that TSA agents have supposedly removed from passengers is about equal to the number of knives and shivs found in many maximum security prisons throughout the country.  It simply does not add up.  I cannot believe that there are so many stupid people in America who would attempt to board a plane with the type of knives that have been confiscated.

Whether true or not, TSA wants us to believe that they are stopping some major things from happening in the skies and keeping travelers safe.  I simply do not buy it at all.  I do not believe that people feel safer today than they did several years ago.  I believe people are LESS secure about their own safety and all the hoops that we are being forced through by the TSA has done nothing to alleviate that tension.  Of course, I realize that there is always the individual who is more than willing to give up any and all of their rights so that they can depend upon the government to keep them safe.  I prefer not to depend upon the government for anything, simply because they have consistently shown me that they do not know how to do the simplest of things.

Do people feel safer these days?  Do they believe that the government has things under control?  Does the average American believe that with President Obama in the White House, life in America has gotten better?  I don’t think so and certainly people do not feel safer.

This morning my wife and I were at a sporting goods store that specializes in hunting and fishing supplies.  While shopping, I overheard one worker who was behind the counter helping another customer purchase a gun say the following:  “It’s barely 2:00pm and over 1,000 hand guns have been sold in California TODAY.”

Don’t think for a moment that that number includes any criminals who have decided to try going the legitimate route to purchase their handgun.  We are talking about over 1,000 law-abiding citizens in California who now believe it is not only important, but apparently mandatory to have a gun.  If they are buying handguns, it is not for hunting.  It is for self-protection.  It is almost as if Californians are aware of what may be coming down the pike and they want to be prepared.

In a few months (February, 2011), the only way to buy ammo if you live in California is to buy it face-to-face.  This not only means not being able to save money through on-line purchases, but it also means leaving your thumb print and other pertinent information for the DOJ (Department of “Justice”).  That leaves the option of being further scrutinized by the government, or going off the grid so to speak, and reloading your own ammo.

The government has previously tried to have all once-fired bullet casings destroyed.  They used a variety of reasons, but none represented the truth.  The reality is that regardless of what they said, they wanted the castings to become unavailable to reload.  The government also recently tried to make it illegal to use lead in bullets.  Apparently, this created ecological problems.  The truth though is that I suppose if someone took the time to suck on lead-based bullets, it could poison the bloodstream.  However, since I have no plans of sucking on them, there is only one other purpose for which I am planning to use them, besides target practice and that is in self-defense.  I pray that situation never occurs, but if it does, the individual on the receiving end of a lead bullet will undoubtedly wish that he was only sucking on one.

At every turn, our dear government is working very hard to eliminate the 2nd Amendment without directly touching it.  They are creating a plethora of laws that are making it more and more difficult for law-abiding citizens to not only buy guns, but ammo.  The old broken record about keeping guns and ammo out of criminals’ hands, or saving just one life is the mantra that the public continues to hear.  This is in spite of the actual facts with respect to how criminals obtain guns in the first place.

The government believes it is their job to take away everything from everybody even if there is only one situation in which someone is hurt by something.  When I go to the store to by a certain allergy medication, because of a particular drug in it, I have to show my I.D., sign my name and am only allowed to buy a certain quantity per month.  This is because this particular drug is apparently used in making meth, something I’m not at all interested in having.  So this new requirement supposedly makes it difficult for the criminal to obtain the necessary ingredients to make meth.  Has it worked?  I’ve seen no evidence of it.  The only thing I’ve seen is an increased amount of frustration from myself and other law-abiding individuals who now have to jump through additional hoops.  I’ve seen a number of COPS-type shows where apprehended criminals had bags and bags of this “over-the-counter” medication for which I have to show my I.D. and sign my name.  Gee, the criminals have found a loophole, somewhere!  Isn’t that amazing?  How DO they do that?

The TSA says that it is making the skies safer.  No, it isn’t.  It is just making people THINK that the skies are safer.  Now with the new rules of engagement in place, what do you think will happen?  The terrorists will simply hide things up in places where the sun doesn’t shine, or under their skin, or they will swallow them to regurgitate them during flight.

The full “nude” body scanners only go to the skin level.  They do not go any deeper into a person’s body.  So I ask you, what is next on the TSA’s agenda?  There is only one thing left:  to completely disrobed and have some TSA agent probe your inner cavities.  There is nothing beyond this folks and we are only one step away from it!

The fact that TSA agents do not force everyone to go through the full “nude” body scanners, or submit to an enhanced pat down means that there is a chance a terrorist will get through and onto the plane.  So how does this new set of rules do anything except anger everyone?  Recently, a woman was forced to pull out her prosthetic breast to show the TSA agent.  In another case, a man’s bag that contained his urine (the result of cancer), was split open by the TSA’s enhanced pat down.  The bag wound up emptying its contents on the man.  The TSA agent was not splashed in the search!

These kind of gestapo tactics are reprehensible and should not be accepted by the public.  Do Senators and Representatives have to submit to these kinds of things?  For some reason, I cannot picture either Barbara Boxer, Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, or anyone like them having to submit to these practices.  It’s only John or Jane Q. Public, law-abiding citizen.

So President Obama stands there at a podium, looking frustrated for the American public, while intoning that it’s frustrating, but necessary.  I submit that it IS frustrating, and it is NOT necessary, especially given the total lack of qualified personnel we have who are in charge of our security.  I’m sure some of them hate to have to “lord” it over passengers, while I’m just as sure that there are too many TSA agents who actually enjoy the power they have over the flying public.

I do not fly that much at all and I’m determined to fly less if possible.  I’d rather drive, although I’m sure the government already has plans to limit the amount of miles I can drive each day, somewhere down the line.  They’ll use the excuse that it’s environmentally sound, but in truth, it will simply be another way that the government can control me.  I guess there is always walking or riding my bicycle.

Socialism is simply government control at its “best.”  The more the government controls, the more socialistic a country becomes.  When people are willing to acquiese to the government because the government will keep them safe (they think), they are giving up their own rights in exchange for government control and the government will not even guarantee that it WILL keep people safe, though it will gladly take your rights away from you.

A few hours ago, over 1,000 handguns were sold in California.  I’m thinking that people are not buying what this particular government of ours is selling.  They are finally waking up to the reality that our government has created under the Obama Administration and responding to it the only way they know how; by proving that the 2nd Amendment is alive and well in spite of what our government would have us believe.
