Buddhist Russell Simmons Buys Ads for “All-American Muslim”

With the situation regarding “All-American Muslim” and the decision Lowe’s has made to discontinue advertising during the program’s airing, Russell Simmons has picked up the slack.  He tweeted “Just purchased remaining spots for #allamericanmuslim for next week The show is now sold out!” he tweeted Monday. “keep your money @lowes and we will keep ours.” [1]

It’s as if Lowe’s (or anyone else) cannot decide how to spend their dollars.  Of course, yes, it must be admitted that there was some pressure on Lowe’s to pull their ads and I agree with their decision.  And yes, to some, that makes me a “hater.”  Let them think what they want.  Sticks and stones will break my bones, but words? They can’t hurt.

What I don’t like is when I’m obviously watching propaganda at its best in order to cause me to believe that Islam is harmless and 99% of Muslims around the world are just normal people.  Sorry, but Islam is harmful and there is a good percentage of Muslims around the world whom I would not want for neighbors.  It’s fine if they don’t want me for a neighbor either.

What is probably most interesting is that Russell Simmons is supposedly a Buddhist who supports Islam…apparently.  Yet, in Thailand, Buddhists are being slaughtered by radical Muslims.  Either Simmons is not aware of that, or he couldn’t care less.

Simmons went on to blast Lowe’s, telling Entertainment Weekly, “This can’t happen in America; (Lowe’s) needs to fix this immediately,”…”They can’t get away with that, it’s ridiculous.” [2]

Really?  It’s ridiculous?  So Lowe’s should be forced to advertise with a program they no longer want to support?  Huh, that’s interesting.  So much for free enterprise.  Russell apparently believes that no company can pull their advertising dollars from a show because they find something offensive.

The reality is that members of Islam took down the World Trade Towers.  Because there are some Muslims who are “moderate” or “peaceful” does not mitigate the terrorist acts of the other more radical counterparts.

What I find absolutely fascinating is that these so-called moderates don’t spend any time really condemning the actions of their brothers in arms.  They go on as life does, seemingly without a care or concern.  After all, they have their daily lives to deal with and all the problems that they encounter, just like the rest of us.

Can you imagine if “Christians” (using the term very loosely) were found guilty of perpetrating terrorist acts today like the WTC, or the continued shelling and bombings that have become an integral and expected part of daily life in the Middle East?  Can you imagine what people would be saying then?  Add to that a show which simply tried to portray Christians as normal individuals.  No one would buy it at all.

In fact, television loves to provide “documentaries” that play on the emotions of people (usually frustration, anger, or even hate) by showing Christians in their excesses as opposed to Christians simply being normal people.  Yet, we are supposed to be angry with Lowe’s because they stopped supporting “All-American Muslim” which is a load of propaganda crock intended to desensitize Americans to the alleged unfounded fears most have toward Muslims.  People don’t buy it.

I’m really surprised with Simmons.  He is obviously extremely uneducated with respect to what is going on in the world.  Unfortunately for Buddhists in Thailand, Muslims are going after Buddhists simply because they are Buddhists.

“One of the least known and least publicized current wars involving Islamic extremists is the ongoing jihad in southern Thailand. Muslim separatists in the southernmost portion of the country have been committing a seemingly unending series of terror attacks on Thai Buddhists, on other Muslims (apparently as punishment for not supporting the violence) and on the Thai police and military. This has been going on at least since 2004, and most likely much longer (though unseen by the outside world). The goal of the terrorists is to create a Muslim-controlled independent state ruled by Islamic law.”

I would caution anyone and everyone from going to the link cited below from which the above quote was taken.  You will see photos – very grisly photos – of the cruelty perpetrated on Buddhists by Muslims.  These atrocities are not generally reported in the media because of the backlash that would occur against Muslims.

Another website notes, “Fides, the news agency of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples, notes that an Islamist terrorist insurgency has claimed 4,000 lives in southern Thailand since 2004. Recent victims include two beheaded boys; “they are all innocent victims, guilty only for not being Muslims,” according to a Fides source. “We will kill, burn, and destroy all Buddhists: you will never be able to live in peace here,” notes a pamphlet distributed by the terrorists. “The Pattani Islamic guerrillas announce that they will never stop the slaughter of infidels of Siam until the land of Pattani [becomes] an Islamic state.

“The nation of 66.5 million is 0.5% Catholic, according to Vatican statistics. Nearly 95% of Thais are Buddhist, while nearly 5% are Muslim.” [4]

It is really difficult for many of us to appreciate (if that’s the right word) the magnitude of death and mayhem that Buddhists in Thailand have to deal with, all because Muslims there want the entire Thai area to become governed by Sharia Law.

There have been so many Muslim on Buddhist attacks in the past few years that it is difficult to keep up with it.  Yet for someone like Simmons, if he is aware of these ongoing atrocities, he then must believe that by extending friendship to “All-American Muslims,” life will be better for all people.  How naive can one be?

I had never heard of Simmons until I saw his ad for the Rush Card, a card where people can load money onto it and spend what’s on the card.  At first, I thought it was an actual credit card, but it turns out to be merely a debit card and though it initially appeared as if Simmons was offering something brand new to the public, it’s really nothing new.  The only difference between what Simmons is offering and what others are offering is the name of his card.

Because it’s a debit card, it cannot improve a person’s credit standing.  Anyone can get a debit card by simply having a bank account.  Can’t get a bank account?  There are still places where anyone can obtain a debit card that allows the person to load and reload money onto it.  In short, Simmons was doing nothing except making himself richer with people who bought into the scheme he was/is selling.

Simmons made his money as a hip-hop mogul and is now using some of that capital to support TLC’s “All-American Muslim” program.  Frankly, the show is such obvious propaganda, pandering to people who are essentially suck-ups to Muslims, that is difficult to watch it at all.  I had my fill of it after only one episode.  It’s easier to watch the old Batman or Green Hornet series because at least with respect to the former, campiness was actually expected.  I did not feel as if Batman was trying to insult my intelligence, whereas with TLC’s program, that’s pretty much all they are doing.

Lowe’s – like any other company – has the right to do what it wants to do.  Home Depot fired someone last year for wearing a badge on their vest that said “God bless our troops.” I didn’t see people like Simmons coming unglued at that.  Me?  I won’t shop at Home Depot any longer.  I’ll spend my money where I want to spend it.  For me, that’s Lowe’s.

If Simmons doesn’t like it, that’s too bad really.  Lowe’s has done nothing wrong.  They have not been unethical at all.  I’m surprised they haven’t been called “racists” yet.  Of course, there is no one race or culture within Islam as anyone can become a Muslim, so charging racism simply shows the level of stupidity of the person leveling the charge.

I think things are going to get even more heated as time goes on because there seems to be too many people who are willing to welcome Islam without wanting Islam held accountable for what it perpetrates.  The time will come – and may be here now – when people will simply not think straight.  Common sense will become foreign to their way of thinking.  It does appear that that time is now.
