So What Should We Do With Donald Trump?

July 25, 2016 at 10:17 AM 14 comments

The race toward the presidency has officially narrowed down to two candidates: Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton. As far as I’m concerned, neither is fit for the office of president, but that seems to be the way things have been steered for some time.

But what is a Christian to do with respect to these two candidates? Do we need someone who is a devout Christian to be in that office? Unfortunately, that will never happen and if it did, there would be Christians who would fall in behind that person and Christians who would not, based on the doctrine they espoused. There are enough atheists, agnostics, and leftists around to effectively shoot down any chances of an authentic Christian gaining the highest office of the land. It simply seems inconceivable to me that this could or would occur.

In place of that, Christians seem to be doing everything they can to assuage their consciences so that they can feel good about voting for Donald Trump. The normal excuses are that if we don’t vote for Trump, then Hillary will gain the office and appoint at least one truly far left Supreme Court Justice, which would likely irrevocably tilt the court toward the left forever. It’s certainly a point worth considering.

Trump says all the things that many conservatives and patriots alike enjoy hearing. He wants a wall on the southern border of America and northern border of Mexico and he wants Mexico to pay for it. He wants to cut this, that, and the other thing. He wants to make America “great” again and to make America “safe” from terrorism. He would like to repeal Obamacare and put something in its place that works for everyone. He wants to renegotiate our foreign trade deals and is opposed to the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP). He would like to end and reverse President Obama’s executive orders on immigration. He wants to create jobs for America since over 95 million people are not in the job market, but could/should be. He wants to protect the 2nd Amendment.

This is a short list. Trump has far-reaching goals that speak to the heart and mind of every conservative and patriot within America. Trump is also broadly painted in the media and by his opponent as racist, bigoted, and bad for the country. To many, Donald Trump is a buffoon, a mindless man of exceeding self-importance. People think that if he becomes president, this country will go backwards and not forwards…whatever that means.

In the end though, for conservative Christians to wrap their arms around this guy, they have to be willing to see him as “one of us.” Christians are tired of voting for the lesser of two evils and want someone they can sink their teeth into and get behind.

In the election with Romney vs. Obama, Romney was laughingly portrayed as a “right-winger” to President Obama’s “centrist” views, or slightly to the left of center. In reality, though the media wanted to portray them like that, they were wrong on both counts. Romney was never a right-winger and Obama is far left – always has been. Yet, many bought the lies of the media and a frenzy began with the left vowing to never vote for a guy who would make it hard or impossible for a woman to kill her unborn child whenever she chose to do that. This is something Romney never would have done but since he was painted that way by the media, it was believed by many.

We’ve also recently seen the way the left deals with the exposure of corruption in the Democratic National Convention (DNC) and specifically with the way the DNC got behind Hillary and did what they could to derail both Trump and Bernie. As we know, Bernie is out but has promised to do everything he can to help get Hillary elected. That was his swan song as it’s doubtful we’ll hear anything more from Bernie who was allowed to escape with his dignity and his life intact. The left will trot him out every once in a while as needed, then throw him back in the closet.

Speaking of corruption, it is also interesting to note that with the recent Wiki Leaks information out there regarding nearly 20,000 emails hacked and released to the public, it gave us a behind-the-scenes look at the way the DNC thinks and the depths they are willing to stoop for their candidate. We learned many things including what we already knew in our hearts. The media are in collusion with the DNC to help them get what they want. If you go to this link – WikiLeaks DNC Emails – you can search until your heart is content regarding what is in the emails there. It’s enlightening. Because of this and other information, Debbie Wasserman-Schultz has been served with a class-action lawsuit. Beyond this, she has also recently resigned her position as chair of the DNC. Of course, these folks – even when caught and forced to resign – never leave the political arena completely. They simply do something else but remain active in politics even if it’s behind-the-scenes.

What is most interesting and shows exactly how many on the left truly think is the way WikiLeaks is being hounded and vilified. In essence, they have released personal emails to the public. Legal minds can argue whether what they did is legal or illegal, but the information is out there in spite of that. It shows a corrupt DNC system that will do just about anything to bring opponents down; opponents like Bernie and Trump. This isn’t new as this type of corruption has been around since the Old Testament times. It is, unfortunately, part of the fabric of humanity due to our fallen natures and people willing to give into it.

This is leftist mentality where the messenger is blamed, not the perpetrator.

This is leftist mentality where the messenger is blamed, not the perpetrator.

In spite of this, look at the image and note how those on the left are reacting to things. They see this revelation of truth as nothing more than an attack on Hillary. This is in spite of the fact that what has been released to the public is in actuality, the way the DNC has played their cards. They have deliberately conspired to lie about Trump and Bernie and do whatever it takes to position their candidate – Hillary – for the win this November. But in spite of the level of truth that’s been revealed, they simply see an attack. Their response? They want WikiLeaks to leak Donald Trump’s tax records to the public. I suppose people believe that Trump is hiding things. Hey, while they’re at it, maybe WikiLeaks can leak President Obama’s academic records too? No one on the left seems to care that President Obama may well be hiding things (and I’m sure he is), but it’s Donald Trump they care about because he stands in the way of Hillary becoming the first woman president (and that’s probably the primary reason she wants the job).

With respect to Donald Trump, he is the only official candidate to stand against Hillary (not counting the Libertarian candidate Gary Johnson, or Constitutional Party candidate Darrell Castle). The others might have a very small shot if enough people are sick and tired of politics as usual and bolt both parties to vote for other candidates. In reality, what will likely happen is that the election will be between Trump and Hillary.

Who should you vote for? I’m not going to tell you who to vote for because it’s not my job. James Dobson is doing all he can to make Trump palatable to Christians by stating that “Mr. Trump had recently come ‘to accept a relationship with Christ’ and was now ‘a baby Christian’.” How convenient. Is that the case and how would Dobson know? It is important to understand that Dobson has favored the goals of Christian Reconstructionism in the past.

I will leave you with this. I believe God will hold me personally responsible for the way I use my vote. For too long it has been voting for the lesser of all evils. I’m really tired of it. Is there anyone that I can, in good conscience, vote for in this upcoming election? Yes, I believe there is, though many of my friends – conservative and Christian alike will argue that I am simply throwing my vote away and voting for Hillary. I don’t see it like that at all. I think it is important to understand that the American people have been “gamed” for quite some time, possibly going back as far as 1896. It is very possible that the Elite have gained complete power over who gets put into the highest office in America and did so a while ago.

If that is the case, then I must stand on principle and use my vote to simply send a message if nothing else by voting for someone whom I can actually stand behind. I don’t think the mentality that says not voting for Trump is a vote for Hillary or if Hillary gets elected, she’ll ruin the Supreme Court forever really amounts to much where God is concerned. God still has everything under control. He has not abdicated His throne or His sovereignty and regardless of how paltry my vote appears to me or anyone else, it is not paltry to God, who sees who I vote for and will understand why I voted for that individual.

I’m tired of having two choices – Satan or the Angel of Death – in so many elections. Yes, if the Angel of Death wins, at least Satan didn’t. This is what it has come down to and I think it is irresponsible. If you can – in good conscience before God – vote for either Hillary or Trump, then you must. As for me, I cannot in good conscience vote for either. I then have two choices. Find someone I can vote for or simply don’t vote.

What I find interesting is that the true haters of Donald Trump are those who believe themselves to be super Christians. Which are usually the Ted Cruz supporters. I am a Christian and in good Christian faith can support Donald Trump. The good Christian Cruz never made it on the tracks to leadership when he chose Jeff Roe as his campaign manager. Everyone in my home state knows the dirty politics of Jeff Roe, and were shocked to find out that Ted could even pick such a person. Every lie and wrongful deed by Cruz, were all old hat politics for Jeff Roe and used in past elections. Roe led Cruz down a path of deceit and Cruz didn’t know any better. I guess God had a plan from the beginning. And it wasn’t Ted Cruz.

Thank you, Denise, for your comments. That’s the sad fact of too many political campaigns – the campaign managers who do whatever it takes to get their candidate elected.

When you say “Cruz didn’t know any better,” I hear what you’re saying, but in reality, Cruz is not a moron. He must have know – at least to some extent – Jeff Roe’s reputation. Shame on Cruz if he didn’t. You don’t pick a campaign manager without doing the research.

We’ll see what happens in November, but hopefully, Trump will gain some traction against evil Hillary.

I totally agree Denise. Super Christians are often super cowards too. I heard Max Lucado was talking bad about Trump when I’ve never seen him speak out about Obama. I think some of the big church pastors like Lucado might be worried about losing their tax exemption if they speak out against Obama, but is that courageous or right?

Trump actually said that he wants to change that law to ensure that pastors can speak their minds without losing their tax exemption. Why are they not stampeding to endorse him?

I’m not exactly sure why some leaders are acting as they are, but I understand the need to stand on principle. Unfortunately, if it means electing Hillary (the considered worst candidate), then maybe it’s time to keep her from being elected and THEN dealing with other issues?

You’re also correct when you say that there is a complete lack of leaders within Christendom who are willing to speak out against President Obama, but have no difficulty speaking out against Donald Trump.

We can’t stay home and not vote. We can’t vote for a third-party candidate. We must remember that we can’t have any more liberal Supreme Court justices on the bench. If Mrs. Clinton is elected as president, we will have more years of liberal policies, and maybe even worse, possibly socialistic! And we must remember those who gave their lives for us to have the right and the freedom to vote! Please read this very well written article that may help make a decision that is more honorable than the above stated choices: http://townhall.com/columnists/waynegrudem/2016/07/28/why-voting-for-donald-trump-is-a-morally-good-choice-n2199564 In honor of the Lord Jesus Christ ❤️

Great article (referring to the article at Townhall.com by Wayne Grudem – ed), thanks for posting. If you read all the comments its apparent that people just don’t get the point. I can guarantee you that half of those people will be whining like crazy if Hillary wins, excoriating the people who didn’t go out vote, and declaring how we are all doomed, that the country is under divine judgement and a swamp of evil from which it will never recover.

Its a mathematical fact that if for this election only a moderate increase in Christians voting (republican) were to transpire – let alone a large increase – that Hillary would never sit in the oval office.

Yet, in spite of the fact that we could, with certainty, keep Hillary out of the White House, by sheer numbers, a large part of the body of Christ is saying…NOPE, it would be better if she got in.
Better for who? For themselves, oddly.

We ARE our brothers keeper, yet people have made it about themselves, not about the fate of the country and others.

I fear this election is going to be one more “cutting off the nose to spite the face” election.

Thanks again for the great link.

And as long as voter fraud plays no part in the upcoming election process, we have a good chance of keeping Hillary out of the Oval Office. Unfortunately, we’ve seen very clearly how the DNC plays the game and voter fraud is part of their program.

I read Grudem’s article as well and he makes some very valid points.

We cannot stay home. We cannot choose a third party candidate. Both will lead to Mrs. Clinton becoming president and continuing the liberal policies of the current president or worse. Also, we will be chained to liberal Supreme Court justices if she is elected. Please read this. I believe it is well done and helps make a decision when we need to!

Wow, all I can say is that I’m glad most Christians learned their lesson 8 years ago, and will not be playing the stay at home game while another Marxist waltzes their way into the Whitehouse and brings another 8 years of misery to every man woman and child in the this country.

Paul did not say pray for our rulers so they could be saved, primarily…his point was pray for our rulers that we could live in peace and freedom, serving Him and leading others to know Him.

What you have posted today smacks of a self-congratulating spirituality. But you don’t have that luxury. This is just a subtle way of enforcing your ‘conscience’ on others to their detriment. Not sensible, not wise, and not your spiritual prerogative.

No one is saying Trump is our savior, or is not a deeply flawed sinner.
This is such a no-brainer, and I’m really tired of people playing this game.

Your ‘piety’ and ‘conscience’, should it win the day in this election, is going to hurt a lot of people. Not good my brother. Not good at all.

    SMH, and very disappointed.

My recent advice to a fellow Berean,in Philly
It really makes no difference to a christian born again believer who will be our next President….God controls our personal destinies independent of our nation’s destiny, currently on the same slippery slope like the stiff necked Biblical Jews and still God defying national Israel.

So vote for your perceived lesser of 2 evils to do your duty as a US citizen and God will give us the President this God-less nation deserves.
With prayers for the protection of His saints before the imminent Rapture and thereafter for the suffering left behinds.

PS – My personal choice as the lesser of two evils is Trump, far preferred over Obama clone Hillary, the chosen puppet of the mega greed driven Establishment and Upper Crust seeking status quo. Hillary is a ruthless lifelong liar and deceiver for purely personal gain, indeed also a Jezebel clone, essentially destroying Sanders legitimate candidacy, akin to killing the biblical Nabob. True, successful pols must of necessity be consummate liars as diplomats in the name of national security, but not for megalomaniacal purposes and to amass personal fortunes.

Thanks for sharing your opinion. Appreciated. Funny that you choose the word “Jezebel” regarding Hillary. I’m preparing a Bible study for this Sunday on Elijah and the contest between him and the prophets of Baal. As you know, Jezebel enters into that story before and after big time!

      Thanks again!
