Prophecies of Isaiah, Pt 5

We’re all familiar with the saying that goes something like, “A lie repeated often enough becomes the truth” or something similar. This saying is often attributed to Hitler, Goebbels, Lenin or someone similar. It doesn’t really matter who said it. What matters is how often it is employed by people or groups seeking to change the truth by stating a lie. Once that lie is stated often enough, too many people within a society start believing it.
It makes sense that someone of Hitler’s deranged caliber is credited with coming up with that one because too often, mad men like him are often very intellectual to the point of madness and so enamored with themselves. They are so completely taken over by something that they can easily sway public opinion and gain huge followings because of the sheer tenacity and believability of their persona.
We are seeing this play out in society quite clearly these days. Lies are being presented as truth and of course, the corrupt/colluding media does its part by presenting things from an emotional virtue or feeling viewpoint rather than a factual one. They deliberately present lies as truth in order to change the narrative.
In essence, as we’ve said many, many times before, these last days are scheduled to get worse and worse and are reflective of what the Scriptures tell us. It appears that the Left wants to paint all conservatives as “white supremacists” so that they can attack without concern and they will have the media’s stamp of approval on it so that conservatives will become a silent group, too afraid to say anything and certainly unwilling to wear any Trump-related hats or shirts for fear of being assaulted or even killed.
This is all part of the lies put forth and spread by the enemy of our souls. That’s where it starts with evil people carrying the banner and torch because they reject Sovereign God. It seems clear that things are not going to slow down but will most likely ramp up into greater acts of vandalism and assault. I’m not a prophet, but I can see a time coming when critical analysis of an event won’t be tolerated at all and people calling for calm will be shouted down. Satan knows his time is short and he’s working very hard to create the havoc he needs in society in order to bring about the one-world government needed to bring Antichrist to the fore.
I wish I could say it wasn’t going to happen. I wish I could say that America at least is in the clear, but that doesn’t appear to be the case. I note with sadness and fascination how God, through Isaiah and Jeremiah foretold of events that would specifically happen to Israel (and Judah). God told the people of Israel that if they went into captivity accepting their punishment, things would go fairly well with them. In fact, they were told to pray for the place where they were being taken to because that area’s welfare also meant their welfare. Israel was going to be punished by God (using Nebuchadnezzar to do so), and the Israelites needed to accept their punishment (Jeremiah 27-29).
Today, battle lines are being drawn and people are expected to take sides. It might be better to stay away from all public events, marches, or rallies that are political in nature. That of course, is up to you to decide.
Make no mistake though. God is fully in control of history. He is sovereign. There is no doubt about that. God’s Word and history proves it repeatedly. What God has said through the prophets and numerous portions of Scripture will come to pass. Even though the entire nation of Israel suffered the consequences of their evil rulers and elite, there were people in Israel who were devout and honest in their dedication, worship, and submission to the Lord. People like Daniel and others suffered for the evil of Israel’s/Judah’s kings and were taken captive by Babylon. Yet, in spite of the situation, God continued to bless these and others like them who sought Him in humility and sincerity of heart.
The world is moving toward judgment and certainly that’s been said so often that people don’t even hear it after a while. Truth is that what is coming cannot be avoided. Evil people sold out to Satan and his purposes have made that a surety. In spite of this though, Christians need to get and remain close to God, as Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach, Abednego, and many others did during the crises they faced during their lives.
I will say this again and again. If you consider yourself a Christian and you are not reading His Word with purpose and passion every day, you are effectively going without food or water. You cannot survive. While your salvation is certainly intact, your testimony for God will be dull and lifeless.
The prophet Isaiah had an overpowering understanding of his own corruption as he stood before God as we read in Isaiah 6.
1 In the year that king Uzziah died I saw also the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and his train filled the temple.
2 Above it stood the seraphims: each one had six wings; with twain he covered his face, and with twain he covered his feet, and with twain he did fly.
3 And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord of hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory.
4 And the posts of the door moved at the voice of him that cried, and the house was filled with smoke.
5 Then said I, Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen the King, the Lord of hosts. – Isaiah 6:1-5 KJV
Here is Isaiah in God’s Presence, whether by vision or something else is not clear. But he saw the very throne room of God! He saw God’s majesty. He saw God’s train that filled the temple. He saw, heard, and experienced the seraphim worshiping God Almighty! He felt the movement of the posts of the door and saw and smelled the smoke!
What was Isaiah’s reaction to this? His own uncleanness! He was beside himself with remorse. Here he was in God’s holy Presence and his own filth became that much more pronounced. How could it not, yet this prophet Isaiah had already been used by God to bring a prophetic message to the wayward people of Israel. Yet, he learned that he was no better than they because he also was “unclean” as he stood there in God’s Presence.
God of course had the solution for Isaiah.
6 Then flew one of the seraphims unto me, having a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with the tongs from off the altar:
7 And he laid it upon my mouth, and said, Lo, this hath touched thy lips; and thine iniquity is taken away, and thy sin purged. (KJV)
It was God’s grace, God’s action that removed Isaiah’s uncleanness. There was absolutely nothing Isaiah could have done to make himself clean. It was all up to God. Isaiah was not only willing but so grateful that he quickly volunteered to become God’s messenger on earth to the people of Israel whatever the cost. Many commentators believe that ultimately, Isaiah was “sewn asunder” by Mannasah (Hebrews 11:37; see also Apochrypha & Pseudopigrapha).
A person who has seen God’s glory will follow God even if it means a martyr’s brutal death. This only comes by knowing God. How do we today get to know God? Visions of Him in His temple are not the norm. Being whisked away by the Spirit to the heavenly courts are also not the norm. How then can we “see” God? How can we come to the point of understanding – truly understanding – that compared to God we are nothing? Even as Christians, with our unrighteousness exchanged for the perfect righteousness of Christ, we are in the end, unclean – sinners, saved solely by God’s grace. There is nothing meritorious that we have done to “earn” salvation. It is freely given.
The fact that this truth does not create within us the deepest facets of humility is due to the fact that we do not spend time with God and His Word on a daily basis. The more we read His Word, the better we will get to know Sovereign God. In doing so, we will at the same time see His all-sufficiency and our abject uncleanness.
Until we meet again I pray that the Lord will open your eyes to see how much He has truly blessed you!
