Daniel 7 Part 2 – Ancient of Days

Daniel 7:9-14 is covered in this installment. To recap, we covered the following last time.

• The 4 beasts came out of the “great sea” (v 2)
• Likely a reference to the Mediterranean Sea since all the beasts had a geographical connection to this sea
• Also references the “sea of humanity” on the earth
• After unique 11th horn uproots 3 and becomes the 8th, he is also heard “speaking great things” or speaking pompously
• Having the “eyes of a man” refers to his level of intelligence

Some of the connections between Daniel 2 and Daniel 7 are:

• Daniel 2 – 4 kingdoms, highlighting political appearance.
• Daniel 7 – same 4 kingdoms highlighting moral character.
• Daniel 2 – 4th kingdom is divided.
• Daniel 7 – 4th kingdom is divided.
• Daniel 2 – image of a man
• Daniel 7 – little horn has the eyes of a man
• Daniel 2 – symbols from inanimate objects.
• Daniel 7 symbols from animate objects.

The four metals in the image of Daniel 2 represent the same four kingdoms as in Daniel 7:

• Babylon
• Medo-Persia
• Greece, and
• Rome

This interpretation and agreement on the identify of the four kingdoms lasted until roughly 17th century. About that time, doubts in the supernatural came to the fore. Deism and Rationalism replaced traditional interpretation, which led to:

• Ultimate rejection of authenticity of the book of Daniel
• Rome as the fourth kingdom also denied
• Both Deists and Rationalists deny the reality of predictive prophecy

Ancient of Days
Turning to Scripture, beginning with Daniel 7:9, Daniel sees the heavenly courts and thrones being set up (v9). He describes seeing the Ancient of Days (v9), whose garment was white as snow. His hair like pure wool, sitting on a throne with a fiery flame. Daniel also saw wheels of burning fire. This is similar to what the prophet Ezekiel sees in Ezekiel 1:13-21 and also reminds us of John’s vision of heavenly courts (Revelation 1:4).

The title “Ancient of Days” stresses God’s eternal nature. The title also seems to refer to God the Father, as God the Son is referenced in Daniel 7:13. The Father’s “whiteness” and “purity” represents purity and holiness. The wheels likely represent His ability to move in any direction, representing omniscience and omnipresence. The river of flowing fire likely represents judgment. This is emphasized by the fact that the books were opened.

Boastful Words of Little Horn
The horn (v8), is referenced again as Daniel’s attention is drawn back to the horn (v11). Though the horn continues his boastful words against the Most High, God destroys the horn proving who is more powerful. The horn and the 4th beast itself given to the fire – “As for the rest of the beasts, they had their dominion taken away, yet their lives were prolonged for a season and a time.” (v12)

Each of the previous 3 empires continued into the empire that overthrew and absorbed it:

• Babylonian
• Medo-Persian
• Grecian

All three empires were ultimately absorbed by the Roman Empire and the final Revised Roman Empire of the last days before 2nd Coming. The LORD destroys the 4th beast completely at His 2nd Coming with nothing left. All vestiges of all previous empires are completely destroyed.

New Paradigm with Jesus
Jesus’ 2nd Coming will not only fully destroy all remnants of 4th Beast, but He will usher in a totally new paradigm on earth via His Millennial Kingdom reign of 1,000 years (Revelation 19:19—20:6). We see in the text “One like the Son of Man (v13), who is coming in the clouds. He comes to the Ancient of Days (Son comes to the Father) and the Father gives Jesus “dominion and glory and a kingdom” to rule the earth in justice with no end. Can you imagine that? We should think about that allowing that truth to embed itself within our hearts and minds. One day, not only will this corrupt life be over, but with this coming new paradigm, Jesus will usher in 1,000 years of perfect righteousness over all the earth!

Regarding the phrase “to rule with no end,” there are two known meanings. First, it can mean until the end of time or to rule forever beyond the end of time. It is clear that Jesus rules to the end of time and that He will also rule forever beyond the 1,000 year Kingdom on New Heavens and New Earth He will create (eternity future). Daniel notes that His dominion is everlasting – shall not pass away.
His kingdom shall never be destroyed (because it is eternal). Amen!

As a bit of an aside, though still connected to the upcoming global, one-world kingdom ultimately to be headed by Antichrist, I’d like to recommend Patrick M. Wood’s newest book, The Evil Twins of Technocracy and Transhumanism. This book goes into plenty of detail about technocracy and the technocrats who have set themselves up as rulers over this planet. We learn when in modern times technocracy began (1932) and how it has progressed from that time to today. We are truly on the cusp of this final one-world kingdom. As Wood says, everything appears to be in place. All that remains is for them to turn the key. While Wood appears to be a Christian, he writes this book (as his others), from the secular perspective, meaning that he provides specific information on what the oligarchs like Klaus Schwab have been doing in order to push this world toward the final global united empire. It’s a fascinating read and one that I highly recommend for the amount of factual information provided.

It is completely understandable why Daniel and other prophets (including the apostle John), were often somewhat confused by the visions and dreams they received related to the end times. Consider the amount of technology we have today compared to what Daniel and John had during their day. They had no electricity, no cell phones, no computers, no cars, planes or things like that. What they actually saw in their visions might have easily included aspects of future technology. I can see why that may have been confusing to them and kept them from seeing things as we can see them during our day.

Today, we are experiencing growing concerns about the technology that has been created, specifically including artificial intelligence, as I’ve mentioned in previous articles. Because of AI, things are moving at an even greater speed toward the installment of the global empire. Personally, I think it’s way too late to stop any of it. That’s not negative thinking on my part. I honestly believe we have crossed the Rubicon, so to speak and there is no going back. There may be successful pockets of resistance here and there. There may also be another “civil” war if the populace continues to realize the bamboozling that has been foisted onto global society. However, overall, it appears that globalists will get what they want because we know the Bible states that during the coming seven year Tribulation, Antichrist will rule for at least three and a half years. We also know that because of the spiritual “union” between Satan and Antichrist, anyone worshiping the Antichrist will be worshiping Satan. He will finally fulfill his strategy to “be like the Most High” (Isaiah 14:14), but it will be short-lived.
