Expect Even Less Discernment as the End of the Age Approaches

It is the same with our relationship with Jesus. You know what I always think as being a bit strange? During worship services, you’ll see people wiping their eyes, getting out their handkerchiefs, and crying. I’m assuming it’s because of how much these folks know and believe they are loved and maybe how much they love God in return for what He’s done. There’s nothing necessarily wrong with that except that too often, people can come to rely on those feelings and when they are not there, they begin to doubt the truth, which is clearly stated in His Word throughout. It can be a form of Cultural Marxism that has crept into the church, teaching people to rely on the way they feel about things.

Lack of Discernment is Astounding in Some Churches

The pastor seemed to want to instruct us on everything from tongues to healings to other gifts that Christians are supposed to evidence in their lives so that people will know they are Christians. It got convoluted very fast, jumping from John 1, to John 8 to Acts 1, to Acts 8 and then to Romans 12. The emphasis was seeing real change in people as evidence that they were actually saved. I would argue that change only really comes to Christians who enter into and maintain fellowship with God in Christ and while salvation offers this path, not all Christians take it.

Bible Warns of Apostasy and Persecution, Part 3

I believe Paul speaks of an apostasy from “the truth” here. If we see society now, we see that truth has become quite relative. There is nothing absolute about anything now. Much of what people consider to be “truth” is simply the latest fad or fashion defined solely by how people feel about something. Many to most decisions made today are based largely on emotional virtue, which is nothing more than political correctness or Cultural Marxism. Determining truth based on these things really creates a moving palette of “truth” that changes based on new “information” or “evidence.” Those who refuse to accept this new “truth” are often ostracized and denigrated, pushed to the outer fringes of society and often referred to as “haters.” Whatever will work to silence them is what is done.

All is Vanity Including Politics

In so many ways, all people on earth are biding their time. Though most are not aware of it, we wait for the next life and those who have trusted Christ as Savior will learn what life was truly meant to be before the Fall occurred. We will – at that point – have our sin natures permanently removed from us so that there will never even the potential of even considering the “merits” of temptation so that we again fall. It won’t happen.

Can Authentic Christians Deny Jesus? Part 4

So what is our commitment with Jesus when we became Christians? It seems like too often, we tend to think of it in terms of what we are allowed to do and what we are not allowed to do. In other words, being a Christian means following a list of do’s and don’ts, right? Have you ever felt that way? It reminds me of the way the Prodigal Son tended to think in Luke 15:11-32. That young man had some pent-up anger toward his father. The son saw himself as being no better than a servant, even though that was certainly not the case. Because of the son’s incorrect thinking, he related to his father in a very unhealthy (because he was wrong) way. That unhealthy attitude created within him anger, which eventually prompted him to walk away from his father…after he insisted that he receive his inheritance first, of course!

All the World’s a Stage and So Much of It is Absolute Vanity

Because of the misplaced value of too many in society, things that have no real eternal value are lifted up and adored, while the things that have eternal value are denigrated or ignored. This is sadly true even among Christians. It’s all about what we “accomplish” for God whether it’s His will or not. It’s all based on how things look on the outside, things we can brag about or put our faith in.

Is Perfect Peace Attainable and What Does It Mean?

The goal then of the Christian is to continue to mature in Christ and to be a witness for Him on all fronts while in this evil world. We’ve noted previously in an article the fact that all in life is really vanity, and that it is so because of our outlook. We constantly plan and run to and fro because we have things “to do” and it seems that we place a very high prize on accomplishments. Yet, it is clear – or should be – that in reality, it really shouldn’t matter what a person does to make a living (provided of course, the means by which is not in the immoral realm), but whatever a person’s lot in life is, the overriding goal is not found in the job or career itself, but in the evangelism. This world is heading toward its own death and multitudes with it.

Christ, Our Fellowship, Part 14

So how do we do what we can to ensure that our relationship with God in Jesus remains open, viable, and in fellowship? I firmly believe that at least some of it can be boiled down to our health. Many studies have shown a severe spike in autism over the past few decades. Moreover, spikes in various cancers have been and continue to be on the rise. In general, people in America are very unhealthy. They are overweight, they hobble instead of walk, and people’s tempers flare at the drop of a hat. I fully and firmly believe that much of this is due to the toxins that come into our bodies through our food supply and air supply.

Ironic How World Blames God for Problems

The idea that the Daily News doesn’t like the fact that politicians and other leaders offer “prayers” when a tragedy like this occurs (hence their missive, “God Isn’t Fixing This”), proves the Daily News misses the point entirely. The Daily News wants greater gun control (and probably would thoroughly enjoy full gun confiscation, like the teetotalers so desperately wanted the absence of liquor in society because they thought that would solve all the problems), which would only teach us that the absence of guns doesn’t solve anything at all, since humanity will not have changed.

Terrorism, Paris, ISIS, and the Christian Response

It wasn’t long after the tragedies began to subside when I heard people on the news talking about what should occur in Paris, which had essentially gone into full lock-down or Martial Law mode. The view that there should be more police, more military, more law enforcement who would be given greater powers to stop anyone they felt needed to be questioned. These law enforcement officials would also have carte blanche to go into anyone’s home without proper written documentation, place people under house arrest, and essentially have the wide-open abilities that are normally provided under a police state.
