Bible Warns of Apostasy and Persecution: Birth Pang 4A

The point is that at some time in the future, God will take a leader that turns out to be the leader of a northern group of nations (but will also include nations south of Israel (like Ethiopia) and around Israel and God will use this leader for His purposes. Notice that even though God is going to “put hooks into (Gog’s) jaws” and will “bring you out with all your army…” etc., to Gog, it will feel as though it’s his idea.

Bible Warns of Apostasy and Persecution: Birth Pang 3

At this point, Israel gained control of the eastern portion of Jerusalem and the Temple Mount. To this day – on paper – Israel controls these areas, yet it would seem that this is not the case. The reality is that once Israel gained control, they left physical control in the hands of Arabs and that has been the case since the end of the so-called Six-Day War. Israel could, at any point now, banish Arabs from the Temple Mount and destroy the Dome of the Rock and Al Aqsa mosques. Of course, if they did this, war would break out with many nations becoming involved in the fray. There will come a point though when somehow, some way, Israel will be able to build another Temple on the Temple Mount and this is highlighted in Scripture.

Bible Warns of Apostasy and Persecution: Birth Pang 2B

Today, there are unfortunately many Christians who believe in something called Replacement Theology. This view espouses that God ultimately rejected Israel because they rejected their Messiah. Therefore all remaining blessings that were to be bestowed on Israel have been transferred to the Church. This line of thinking is absurd, especially if one considers that throughout the book of Ezekiel alone, God makes statements like “This is what the sovereign Lord says: It is not for your sake that I am about to act, O house of Israel, but for the sake of my holy reputation which you profaned among the nations where you went,” (Ezekiel 36:22).

Bible Warns of Apostasy and Persecution: Birth Pang 2

This is actually Birth Pang #2 because this began occurring officially in 1948. What about the rest of the text, you would do well to ask? It hasn’t happened yet! This is a process that God is doing with Israel to get them ready for the final remnant to enter into the Millennial Kingdom where Jesus will reign. Isaiah 11-12 discuss this same thing, much of it dealing with the results of God regathering Israel, sprinkling them with water to purify them, giving them a new heart, and bringing them into the Land where they will finally and fully enjoy all the Land that was promised to them via Abraham. But it is clear from Scripture that this is a process that doesn’t happen overnight. In fact, the regathering itself of Jews to the Land has taken decades and even a few generations and it is still ongoing!

Christianophobia? Not Enough Lions? What?

If the world loves us, then we may well be doing something wrong as they may very well see little to no difference between their lives and that Christian’s life. If there is no difference, then the “love” those Christians believe they are evidencing in their lives toward the world may not be love at all, but more of an act of self-survival. It’s simply some nebulous feeling that does nothing more than make those Christians feel good about themselves. That cannot truly save anyone because there’s nothing there beyond feelings. There’s no real truth in it.

Bible Warns of Apostasy and Persecution, Part 6

It is interesting if we consider history since the time of Jesus. There has been a growing number of people who claim to be “Jesus” or “the Christ.” Whether they actually make that claim or someone else points to them all comes down to the same thing. Currently, there are at least three well-known individuals who all claim to be Jesus and who are alive right now. One is in the Philippines, one is in Australia, and one is in Europe. These are not simply your garden variety “Christs” who are easily written off as people with loose screws. These are people who have great followings. Those who follow them thoroughly believe them to be who they say they are and have no qualms about eating up everything they say.

Bible Warns of Apostasy and Persecution, Part 5

As noted previously, some commentators place the second and third questions together. The first question is addressing the timetable regarding the destruction of the Temple. The other two questions move ahead in time to the very end of this age. If more people understood this, there would be far less misinterpretation going on here and less arguing over “this” or “that” as Preterists and others are prone to do. They are missing the big picture. But some commentators believe that the “end of the age” occurred when Rome destroyed Jerusalem and the Jewish Temple that stood at the time. These same commentators also believe that Jesus “returned” at this same time, though He returned spiritually in judgment of Israel. To them, this marks the end of the age to which Jesus refers.

Bible Warns of Apostasy and Persecution, Part 2

Aside from mockers who come mocking the idea of Jesus as God returning to claim what is His, there is also the general tone of society that will exist during the end times and we will see it worsen as things lead directly up to the physical return of Jesus at the end of the coming Tribulation period. One thing to remember is that the Bible is a complete book. It must be allowed to interpret itself because even though there are roughly 40 human authors, physically writing their own book within a book over a period of approximately 1,600 or so years, the reality is that God is the main Author. He chose individuals to write down parts of His book, but it was God Himself who oversaw the writing of each book. The Bible is the only book that can claim this. No other comes close.

Portraits of Fellowship, Part 5: Moses

Folks, it is very difficult at times to “see” through the darkness into the future to the point where God actually provides an answer to the situation we are undergoing. We are often surrounded by circumstances that God is using for our growth and His glory. Satan wants those very same circumstances to weaken our faith and destroy our fellowship. We need to be like Moses, not Israelites. We need to trust God in spite of what we cannot see. That is not only how we enter into fellowship with Him but it is how we remain in fellowship with Him.

Portraits of Fellowship, Part 4: Moses

Moses focused on God for His solution. Isn’t this what God tells us in Psalm 55:22? God echoes the same sentiment in 1 Peter 5:7, when he tells us to “Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.” Moses knew that casting his cares and concerns on the Lord would yield good results. Relying on himself would yield nothing good at all and and to react in a way that evidenced a failure to trust God would be sin.
