Have you heard this one? “Jews run the world” and by “Jews,” people normally mean “Israel.” For these anti-Semites, “Jews” and “Israel” are synonymous. One reader, after reading through two articles on this site, simply stated, “We are slaves to Israel.” I’m sure she believes it. In fact, not long ago, I wrote a book about the method used by Anti-Zionists to foist blame for all the world’s ills onto Israel. What is the Coming Tribulation All About? Part 4
Antichrist makes the covenant because of his ulterior motives. Halfway through the Tribulation period, he will completely defile the Jewish Temple (as Antiochus did in 168 BC; cf. Matthew 24), making it completely unsuitable for worship (as was the case following Antiochus’ defilement). Antichrist will do what Paul tells his Thessalonian readers (2 Thessalonians 2:3-4), “the man of lawlessness…who opposes and exalts himself above every so-called god or object of worship, so that he takes his seat in the temple of God, displaying himself as being God.”
Did Jesus Speak Hebrew? Pope Says No – Bibi Says Yes
The Torah was written originally in Hebrew (with some small sections being originally written in Aramaic. For Jewish individuals and especially males, Hebrew was the language of choice. In fact, the numerous times Jesus read Scripture while at synagogue or in the Temple, He would have done so in Hebrew. We’ll provide specifics in a moment, but it is important to note that with the discovery of the Dead Sea Scrolls, it becomes at once clear that many manuscripts that Jesus would have studied, learned, and even memorized were written in Hebrew. “The scrolls demonstrate that Hebrew was being used in the time of Jesus, and had not been completely eclipsed by Aramaic.”[3]
Daniel’s 70 Weeks is NOT 70 Years!
It is the same thing here in Daniel 9. Gabriel is really giving a bit of a play on words. In essence, as Dr. Arnold Fruchtenbaum points out (“Footsteps of the Messiah”), Gabriel is essentially saying, “Daniel, it’s not 70 years, but 70 SEVENS of years.”

In verse 27, we see our first usage of the pronoun “he.” The first part of 27 reads, “And he will make a firm covenant with the many for one week…” The question we must ask then is who is this “he” referring to here? This is where the rule of antecedents comes into play. We look at the “he” and we ask, to whom does this “he” refer. If we travel backwards in the text, we come to the “people of the prince who is to come” section. We have determined that this is a roundabout way of referring to the Antichrist. Therefore, the “he” in verse 27 refers back to the Antichrist.

It is clear from verse 27 that the final week does not begin until “he” confirms a covenant with the many for one “seven.” What is this covenant? We are not sure exactly what the covenant is, but we are sure that it entails a form of peace for Israel. The fact that it is one “seven” in length tells us that it is the final seven years of this age, just prior to and leading up to the physical return of Jesus.

The sixty-two weeks came to an end in AD 33 with the Triumphal entry of Jesus into Jerusalem. Five things are supposed to occur during that time and the start of the final week. In essence then, we are living DURING the time between these weeks.
