Rebounding for Health?

I cannot emphasize this enough. Each of us has only so many days that the good Lord has allotted to us. We can enjoy those days because we enjoy good health (which does affect our spiritual health!), or we can slowly die a little more each day. I know that eventually my body will give out and it’ll be time to go Home because I live in a dying body due to sin. But I do not want to be like the Corinthians whom the Lord put to “sleep” (death) early because of their carnality and lack of concern. They were doing it wrong. I was doing it wrong.

Another Health Update: Keto

The Ketogenic Diet – for those who are unaware – is a way to eat very healthy foods, including good fats. Yes, there are actually good fats as opposed to bad fats that people should be eating. The good fats literally feed our bodies and our brains. In fact, our brains desperately need good fats. People who go on a low-fat diet of any sort will lose weight, but will also often starve their brains in the process. A starved brain will develop all sorts of maladies.

Personal Request for Prayer

As you can imagine, we were stunned and didn’t know how to proceed. We met with the plastic surgeon who works in conjunction with the breast doctor and were pleased to learn that this wouldn’t be his first rodeo. In fact, this particular plastic surgeon had pioneered numerous breast reconstruction surgeries in Europe and the United States. It was interesting that he was “coincidentally” in our neck of the woods.

The Miracle of Magnesium

I thought I knew enough about magnesium, but after reading this book, it’s clear I knew very little about it. In fact, I wasn’t really taking any of it. I was for a while though and then when I went to refill my pill cases where I store my supplements for daily ingestion, for some reason I neglected to add magnesium back into the mix.

Your Physical Health is Important Too, Christian

Christians are notorious for wanting “more” of God. Certainly, that is a good thing and it is something we should pursue (as long as we pursue it correctly, according to Scripture). However, these same Christians seem to care not one iota for their own health. I’ve lost count how many Christians I know who suffer from mild to severe health problems (including obesity/belly fat), but seem to not notice the connection between what they eat and the resultant health issues that they experience. It’s mind-boggling.

Is Processed Food Really Food?

Lab technicians have devised a way to make things that would likely taste terrible, taste good. How? It’s all those “natural and artificial flavorings” routinely added to processed foods. If your taste buds can be tricked into thinking that you are tasting actual chicken, then your brain tells you that what you’re eating IS chicken and it’s all good!

Today’s Millennials are the Brainwashed Masses

But among these people there are also too many who have been brainwashed by Big Pharma and Big Foods and who refuse to acknowledge that Western medicine doesn’t know everything. In fact, there are many things in place to keep people from walking away from the medical profession (except in emergencies) and trying to take control of their health through proper eating and drinking, along with vitamin and mineral intake. Think about the fact that God has given our bodies the ability to heal itself. It’s not something out of a comic book! However, much of what people eat and many of the medical treatment programs used by people are not designed to make or keep us healthy. I think we have a tremendous responsibility to treat our bodies as the temples they are and we are not doing that if we are eating and drinking garbage and then when we naturally get sick, we run to the doctor’s office for a prescription.

GABA, GABA, Doo, Part 5

This is not an easy thing to do to keep these things in balance, especially with the way most Americans eat today. As I’ve stated several times, if you will simply focus on eliminating the things in your diet that are actually causing your body harm, you are well on your way to increased health. This, in turn, will allow your gut to create the needed neurotransmitters and these in turn, will be utilized by your brain to work as they should work.

GABA, GABA, Doo, Part 3

I had ballooned up to 255 pounds with a nearly 44 inch waist. I’m only 5′ 7″ tall, so clearly, I was obese. Not good. Today, I am down to 193 pounds and almost into a size 36″ waist. To me that’s remarkable especially when I tell you that I have not tried to lose weight. Once I began eliminating things from my diet, the extra pounds started to evaporate. All this has led me to believe that our bodies will do what is best for us, if we cooperate with our bodies. I believe that eventually, my body will simply level off at the weight it is supposed to be at, without me having to worry about “dieting.”
