Burdens We Unnecessarily Carry
The other day, in church, as our pastor walked up the two stairs to the platform, I pictured Jesus sitting on those steps and me walking over to Him. I took a seat on the floor and looked up at Him. He looked at me and sincerely and compassionately asked, “Fred, how are you doing?” This was not a vision. It was my imagination, yet it concurs with Scripture because of how much He cares about you and me. He didn’t ask me because He wouldn’t have known. It was His way of drawing me out, telling me it was safe to share with him by deepest, darkest thoughts and concerns. He knows them already yet does not reject me.
Called Home
I really do want to spend the rest of my life doing what the Lord wants me to do. I’d love to hear at the end of it before I pass, my name being called and the veil that separates this life from the next pulled back. But whatever happens, I know that once I pass from this life to the eternal realm, that’s when I will really start living because the sin nature will be surgically removed by Physician Jesus Himself.
Job’s Deeper Meaning
It is fitting that from the very beginning, long before the redemptive work of the Messiah was even foretold, we have a type of Christ where we see the anguish, the depths of suffering, and the physical, emotional, and mental pain seen in the character of Job. This book provides us with great insight into the tremendous sacrifice and suffering that Jesus willingly took on for us, so that we might gain salvation. Without His suffering, we would not have that solution to our problem.
Behold Your God: Image of Invisible God
The exact imprint. Jesus is the exact imprint, the perfect reflection, the literal image of God. This is why Jesus could say that to see Him was to see the Father (John 14:9). Is it any wonder why the religious leaders became so offended by Jesus’ statements? He was literally claiming equality with God. He was literally saying “I AM.” Wow.
A Warning for ALL Evangelical Churches
If you see that your church is starting to slide in modern music, reducing the number of hymns, be wary. It often starts like that and pretty soon, the hymns are shunted off to the side and the modern music is given the spotlight. Older folks are encouraged to “come along with the Spirit” so that more young people will come to church.
Being Sincere But Sincerely Wrong
The hatred and jealousy from the religious leaders kept them from seeing the truth about Jesus. This very same thing happens to people the world over today…every day…as roughly 150,000 people die into eternity, most without Jesus (Matthew 7:13). This was the primary reason for their constant attacks on Him. Motivated by Satan through and cooperation of their pride, they did whatever they could to stop Jesus. This ultimately resulted in God allowing them to wrongfully arrest, convict, and execute Him, God using the evil devices of demons and people to work out His plan of salvation. Not even Satan understood that he was actually assisting God though he worked against Him!
God’s Sovereignty and It’s Impact on the World
Had this problem remained simply between Mordecai and Haman, God may not have stepped into resolve anything, but Haman not only wanted to kill Mordecai (by hanging him on a gallows built specifically for him, standing roughly 75 feet high), but Haman extended this to include the entire culture of Jewish individuals as we learn in chapter 3. Certainly, God would not stand for that and He didn’t. It doesn’t matter whether it was Pharaoh during Moses’ day, Hitler during ours, or Haman during the time of King Ahasuerus. Anyone who wants to act as Satan and destroy all of the Jewish race will have to answer to God Himself.
