Nathan Was Wrong, Then He Was Right

Nathan did not deliberately lie to David about building God’s house. He honestly thought that it was a great idea and said so. It was along the lines of someone encouraging someone else to do something that sounded like a great idea at the time. Should Nathan have known better? Yes, but if we read the text carefully, he was simply telling David that God would bless him (David) if that was God’s will. After God actually spoke to Nathan, revealing His will, Nathan went back to David and clarified things perfectly.

King Saul vs King David – Lessons in Character & Integrity

Instead of thinking we are better than Saul (or David), we need to examine ourselves so that we are guarded against problems that attack every Christian. We also cannot rest on the fact that the Holy Spirit lives within us sealing us unto the day of redemption. We need look no further than the Corinthians to know that though they “prophesied” and spoke in “tongues,” they were extremely carnal, selfish, and lacked integrity and godly character.

Delighting in God’s Word

The individual (Christian or not), who chooses to begin listening to the world, will eventually find him/herself in the position of siding with that world. There’s a lot of that going around today. The Bible clearly states that to be friends with the world is to be an enemy of God (James 4:4). Why? Simply because the world’s system is completely opposed to God and His ways.

Speaking the Truth in Love

It’s easy for us to judge. It’s easy to want to pray the type of imprecatory prayer that David prayed. He can be excused because he did not have the entirety of Scripture at his disposal as we do. However, the Christian’s strength is in seeking God, in submitting ourselves to Him and allowing Him and His love for the lost work in and through us in order to reach the lost of this world. That is how He set things up and that is how He expects us to move through this world.

Christian: Do Not Fail to Be in Fellowship with God!

We need to take our relationship with God seriously. We need to enter into fellowship with Him and remain there. It is the only thing that can keep us from falling, recognizing that Christ in us saves us from ourselves. In essence, salvation or eternal life is in knowing God in Christ. As Christians, it is unfortunate that we can do exactly what Adam and Eve did by turning off our relationship with God. We can break that fellowship with God by choosing a path that He does not approve of and when we do, we not only break fellowship, but we sin, and bring tremendous harm into our lives and the lives of those we love.

Psalm 2: Puny Man Waging War Against God, Part 2

By the time King David wrote the words of Psalm 2, much of what I’ve related was already behind him. Of course, the birth of the Messiah was yet in front of him, but the hard work of creating Israel from Abraham (and everything that included), was done! King David could understand Psalm 2 from his perspective knowing that God had already been faithful because of all the things He had promised and brought to the fore.
