Is It This or That?
The Jews could not grasp what Jesus said. In Matthew 24, He used the word “this” to reference a generation and it seems clear enough (though there is plenty of disagreement), that He ultimately was referring to the generation that would be alive during the coming Tribulation, which would end as He returned. However, there is also a near/far view because things certainly started with the generation living at the time of Jesus, didn’t it?
Known by Their Beliefs and Works
Like Hillary, Elizabeth Warren believes herself to be a Christian, yet her belief in salvation is clearly anchored in works (“The sheep are going to heaven because they fed the hungry, ministered to the sick.”). This is terribly tragic because salvation cannot be earned or purchased. It is a gift freely given through faith in Jesus and His sinless life, death, and resurrection. He paid the price for our sin, which originally placed us under God’s judgment. Our faith in Christ’s finished work forgives our sin, and imputes to us Christ’s righteousness. This is what grants us salvation.
Ten Kings, the Antichrist, and the New World Order, Part 3
But where does all of this start? As we noted previously, even though the coming one-world government has roots all the way back to Genesis 11, Nimrod, and the Tower of Babel, it all begins in earnest in Daniel 2. This is where God chose to reveal what was previously hidden and starts the clock ticking. It is interesting that God chose to reveal the start of the first empire all the way to the global unification of the fourth and final empire in its revised or “resurrected” form (yet future), through Nebuchadnezzar. However, it makes sense if this is where God began tracking the 70 “weeks” that are revealed in Daniel 9.

Eventually, God allowed Satan to begin again to direct the affairs of men – however slight – toward a unified global system of governance, as he had blatantly tried in Genesis 11, in order that the Scriptures might be fulfilled. Remember, Satan is being allowed and even used by God Himself to bring a unified world to fruition. That is key. However, it must never be forgotten that Satan is fully limited by God Himself and under His control.
Living in Light of the Times, Part 1
As we focus on the eventual return of Jesus (or the fact that we will see Him face-to-face upon our death, which as far as we are concerned, could occur at any moment), John tells us that focusing like this creates a purity within that we otherwise did not have. It is incumbent upon us to literally look for that future time when Jesus will rule physically over all Creation. Is that not something to be excited about?
Bible Warns of Apostasy and Persecution: Birth Pang 9
Because Israel’s leaders will essentially be signing a deal with the devil, God responds to their complete lack of faith in Him by beginning to pour out His wrath on the nations that have deceived Israel (outlined beginning in Revelation 5). His wrath is also poured out against Israel as well, but the Bible tells us that at the three and a half-year point of the Tribulation when the Antichrist claims to be God from inside the rebuilt Jewish Temple, this is when the eyes of many Jews will start to open. They will realize they were deceived and will run for the hills. God will protect them from the onslaught by Satan and because he cannot reach the Jewish people, he will then turn his attention to people who will become Christians during that same time period (Revelation 12 – read the entire chapter!).
Bible Warns of Apostasy and Persecution: Birth Pang 3
At this point, Israel gained control of the eastern portion of Jerusalem and the Temple Mount. To this day – on paper – Israel controls these areas, yet it would seem that this is not the case. The reality is that once Israel gained control, they left physical control in the hands of Arabs and that has been the case since the end of the so-called Six-Day War. Israel could, at any point now, banish Arabs from the Temple Mount and destroy the Dome of the Rock and Al Aqsa mosques. Of course, if they did this, war would break out with many nations becoming involved in the fray. There will come a point though when somehow, some way, Israel will be able to build another Temple on the Temple Mount and this is highlighted in Scripture.

It is important to grasp the fact that they actually asked Jesus three individual questions here. They wanted to know when the Temple would be destroyed (“not one stone will be left on another”), they wanted to know what signs might be associated with the Second Coming, and finally, they wanted to know what sign(s) might be connected with the end of the age. It is also very important to understand that according to rabbinic sources, there are only two ages: this age in which we currently live and the coming age when Messiah will reign. When this current age ends, it will do so because the Messiah will return and start the new age.
