Daniel 11, Part 2
If Daniel 11 shows us anything, it shows us that God is intimately involved in humanity’s affairs is actively directs things to the climax of this age so that His purposes – all of them will be accomplished – while still allowing humanity to have some semblance of free will, in spite of the fall of man.
Nathan Was Wrong, Then He Was Right
Nathan did not deliberately lie to David about building God’s house. He honestly thought that it was a great idea and said so. It was along the lines of someone encouraging someone else to do something that sounded like a great idea at the time. Should Nathan have known better? Yes, but if we read the text carefully, he was simply telling David that God would bless him (David) if that was God’s will. After God actually spoke to Nathan, revealing His will, Nathan went back to David and clarified things perfectly.
Today’s Prophet Doesn’t Like Criticism
Wouldn’t it be great if all Christians were far more concerned about submitting to Jesus, allowing Him to live His life in and through them as opposed to looking under every rock and bush for the latest new “sign” that will signal the return of Jesus? Fewer and fewer Christians today seem interested in reading God’s Word for spiritual growth. Too many want to live the exciting, adventurous life of the New Testament Christian where one miracle leads to another.
Christ, Our Righteousness, Part 9
God’s Word – the Bible – is His final revelation to humanity (and this includes the revelation through His Son because the Bible represents that written record of Christ’s life, miracles, and redemptive work). It’s something He began writing through Moses and didn’t stop until all the “t’s” were crossed and “i’s” dotted by the apostle John. In that volume – the Bible – is what God wants us to know about Him. Is it all there is to know about God? Absolutely not, but it is all that God believes we need to know now, while we are in this life.
Speaking for God: Discerning His Truth
If no one discerns what is right and true today, then error abounds. The reason there is so much error today is because there is little discernment. When some step forward in an attempt to discern, they are quickly shouted down, called names, and heckled. This should not be, but unfortunately, it exists. “But there were also false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them and bring upon themselves swift destruction. And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of,” (2 Peter 2:1-2).
