Truth about Islam, from an ex-Muslim

In this blog, we are going to look at more FACTS concerning Islam.  Again, I want to emphasize that what I am presenting here are FACTS.  They are not OPINIONS, but actual FACTS that deal directly with the system of Islam, and it is a system because it incorporates three prongs: 1) religion, 2) civil, and 3) military.  This makes Islam a system, not necessarily a religion.

First, let’s remember that Islam, like every other system that claims to be religious except Christianity, teaches the way to paradise is through works, or deeds.  This is absolutely nothing new.  Muhammad presented this view to followers during the course of his life (circa A.D. 600).  The way to be accepted and approved by Allah is through the works that each person produces in this life.

This belief that works saves or condemns goes back as far as recorded history.  Some of the greatest civilizations known to humanity included aspects within their religious beliefs that promoted works.  In Ancient Egypt for instance, upon death, each person’s vital organs were weighed.  Depending upon how much “good” a person had done, vs. how much evil, the result was paradise or not.

In that sense – works to save or condemn – Muhammad came up with nothing new at all.  In fact, as we examine Islam, we find that it has borrowed any number of ideas and concepts from numerous religious systems.  We may get into that in some future blog, but for now, let’s talk today about how women and children are viewed under the system of Islam.  It’s not really a pretty picture at all.

Suffice it to say before we get into details that any system – religious, civil, or military – that relegates people to a lower status is not only unfair, but often breeds an attitude of contempt toward that group.  I am not referring to individual roles, or job position necessarily.  Everyone knows that the assembly line worker is not on par with the CEO of the same company.  Paychecks alone prove that.  I am talking about how people view other people.  A good CEO has great respect for the people who work the assembly line, because they are understood to be the cogs that keep the company moving.  Without them, the company stalls.  While they may not make as much money as the CEO, they are nonetheless, extremely important fixtures to any company.  Only an egotistical CEO would look upon these workers as less than, or even unnecessary.

When I speak of how Islam views women and children, I am literally referring to how they look at women and children, or the value they place in women and children, which is often seen in the way women are treated by men.  This is an important understanding because it is how much value a person has that determines how they are treated.

In Christianity for instance, it is wrongly assumed that because certain denominations do not allow women to be ordained to the pastorate because of what Paul teaches, women are seen as having less value than men.  This is not true at all.  Galatians speaks of the fact that in Christ, there is no difference at all between women, men, slave, or free, Jew or Gentile.  However, Paul also teaches (and he stated this after his letter to the Galatians) that women should not teach men and he gave a specific reason for this:  it was Eve who was deceived.

Even in stating this though, Paul is not stating that women are inferior to men.  He is simply stating that under God’s design, men are the spiritual leaders of the home.  Too many men today willingly abdicate that responsibility.  But by abdicating that responsibility does not mean that God ceases to hold them accountable.  Men are accountable, whether they like it or not, whether they accept it or not.  Just as Abraham, Isaac, and others were held accountable for their error (as well as their successes), so are men today held accountable for how they lead in the household.

God does not want men to be dictators.  He wants us to be leaders and there is a huge difference between the two.  I lead by showing, not telling.  I love my wife and my children as I love myself.  I lead them as Christ leads me.  To ignore my responsibility as spiritual leader of my home is to rebel against God’s chosen system.

Too many women (and men) believe that those of us who take God’s Word literally and are doing our best to love our wife and children as God loves us (and gave Himself for us) are nothing but dictators, or male chauvinist pigs.  I love my wife.  I love my children.  I will do whatever I can to protect them, to care for them, to ensure that they have what they need in life.  I do my best to make certain that my wife knows I love her, that my children understand that I respect them.  This means that I take the lead when it comes to going to church, to praying, to reading the Bible.

It means that I do the utmost to be faithful to my family in all things and that I am not so hard on my children that they become angry with me.  Above all things, I try to be as fair as I can.  I apologize when I have erred, and I go out of my way to do things that I know will please my wife without having to be asked.

Loving my wife and my children is difficult at times because of my own sin nature, yet for as many times as I fail, I get up, acknowledge my error, and move on, endeavoring to show my wife and kids that I love them and that I am here for them.  What we have at this point in our lives are two children who actually like us and enjoy being with us.  They have told us as much.

My wife goes out of her way to help make my life happy and content.  To me, she is the epitome of a Proverbs 31 woman, constantly looking to find ways to make this house a home, warmly engulfed in love.  She cooks, cleans, and does a hundred and one things to keep this house in order.  She also works outside the home with a very busy schedule.  I work outside the home and I also take care of the house.

In the end, what I believe we have are roles that have been established by God and because we remain in those roles, God blesses us.  I do not see my wife as someone who is less than because she is not.  I see her as a helpmate, someone who stands alongside me and supports me.  Ultimately, my wife allows me to lead.  She does not have to do that and it takes a very secure woman to allow a man to be over her in authority.  It is easy for a man in such a position to abuse it.  It is extremely difficult for an intelligent, creative woman to place herself in the hands of a man and trust him to do what is right.  Think about how difficult that is and how strong a woman must be to do that!  It is extremely easy for a woman to do it her way, to ignore the man as the head of the home, or to decide that what Paul meant applied then, but society has changed.  It takes no strength at all for a woman to do that – none.

By the way, let me say that any woman who places herself under the authority of a man who verbally or physically (or both) abuses her needs to get out!  She does not have to put up with that and should not put up with it.  There is no reason to deliberately place yourself in harm’s way.  That is a misappropriation of God’s Word.

Having said all this, let’s consider Islam.  In Islamic countries, it is mandated that women wear burkhas.  These gowns cover the woman from head to toe, with only a small opening for her eyes to see out.  Islamic men have stated that the reason they insist on their women wearing these is because this is the way they honor women.  I contend that it has nothing to do with honor at all and everything to do with the fact that it helps keep men from acting like perverts.

In other words, within the Islamic code of conduct, women are often blamed for being raped or molested, and it is often used by men as a form of punishment toward the woman.

I have referred to the trouble in The Netherlands previously but it seems good to do so again here.  There are Muslim areas of The Netherlands where only Muslims live.  In those areas, Sharia Law is practiced and the non-Muslims pretty much stay out of those areas.  Essentially, Muslims have created “Little Islams” in neighborhoods like these.  They demand to be left alone to practice Islam their way, in spite of the fact that they are in a country that does not practice Sharia Law.  Countries like The Netherlands have given into their demands, much to their chagrin.  They are now trying to regain what they lost and it is an uphill battle.

Because these Muslim neighborhoods are laws unto themselves, they do what seems good to them.  It is routine in these neighborhoods to treat women as less than, someone who needs to be covered up or risk the possibility of being raped.  I’m sure that “moderate” Muslims who read this will become annoyed with what I have written because of what it suggests.  However, consider the fact that rapes have occurred in growing numbers as far back as before 2005 in countries like Sweden.  These rapes were committed (by and large) by Muslim men against non-Muslim women. [1]

The reason this is done is because radical Muslim men believe that the woman is “asking for it.”  Because she is not wearing a burkha (a crime in their mind), she is asking for the consequences, which to them means raping her as punishment.  In many cases, the victims are young girls, but that does not seem to matter since Muhammad himself had a prurient interest in young girls.  “According to Swedish Radio on Tuesday, statistics from Sweden’s National Council for Crime Prevention show that the number of reported rapes against children is on the rise. The figures have nearly doubled in the last ten years: 467 rapes against children under the age of 15 were reported in 2004 compared with 258 in 1995. Legal proceedings continue this week in a case involving a 13 year old girl from Motala who was said to have been subjected to a group rape by four men. (Note: These four men were Kurdish Muslims, who raped the girl for hours and even took photos of doing so).[2]  What is the point here?  These rapes, gang-rapes, and photo opportunities have nothing to do with anything except to make the women feel less than a human being.  The intent is to remove any sense of equality that the woman might have otherwise had.  It is to demean her, to immobilize her, to overpower her and in doing so, prove that the man is greater.

As many articles and studies bear out, these types of rapes by Muslim men against non-Muslim women has become epidemic.  This is the attitude that exists because of Islamic teachings.  Many look to the life of Muhammad himself to prove that marrying very young women (read: girls) is not only acceptable, but approved by Muhammad.  If it is approved by Muhammad, then who can argue?

The reality though is that women are seen by radical Muslims as individuals who are here purely for the satisfaction of men and nothing more.  For a radical Muslim male, any and every woman on this earth is a form of prey, certainly not an equal.  Women are here on this planet for the enjoyment of the man.  There is no thought of how to please the woman, how to make her feel secure, or how to meet her needs.  The woman is here for the man to take, use, and abuse if necessary.  They are things for the man’s pleasure.  In many cases, animals are worth more so they are valued more.

This is tragic and it is reality.  Last night, I watched a Frontline episode on “Sex Trafficking.”  It was horrendous.  I have watched other programs that dealt with that topic and I have studied the subject on my own as well, simply because it shows just exactly how the world is breaking down morally.  The millions (yes, that is millions) of women annually who are kidnapped and placed within the sex trade is unbelievable.

Understand that some of these women are sent to the United States to be used as sex slaves here.  Most of the women are used in places in Europe.  Turkey is one of the largest areas for sex trafficking and it is 99% Islamic.  The terror these women face as they realize they have been sold into the world of illicit sex is something I cannot imagine.  To make things worse, the police are usually corrupt or have no empathy for these women at all.

In one case, one of the woman managed to escape her abductors and went to the police.  She explained her situation and was immediately brought back to the brothel from which she had escaped.  Police are often given the services of these girls free of charge.  Of course, the police are then quick to either ignore the brothel altogether, or do what they can to protect the brothel owner should it come to light.

In the Frontline episode, the married man of one of the kidnapped women went all over Turkey trying to find his wife.  He was able to make contact with those who kidnapped her pretending to be another pimp who wanted to buy her.  Eventually, because of his tenacity, the pimp who had bought the man’s wife put her on a plane and sent her back home.  Rarely do they end like that.

The women who are kidnapped usually come from areas of Europe so impacted by poverty that they are at their wits end.  Like people in this country who still fall for the e-mail hoaxes from Nigeria, these women answer ads for employment only to find that they have walked into a trap and are whisked away to another country before they realize what has transpired.  From there, they are forced to endure sex with men, as many as 15 each day!

I have to wonder why Islam allows or even encourages illicit sex as it does?  Yet, at the same time, look at the alleged rewards that suicide bombers seek and believe they will have?  Once they die as a martyr, they will instantly go into Allah’s presence and enjoy 70 virgins.  In the Qur’an, Muhammad specifically states that these 70 virgins are untouched by other men.  It would appear that in many ways, Islam is based on the prurient interests of its founder, Muhammad.

On the other hand, Jesus taught that in the afterlife, we are neither married nor given in marriage, like the angels (cf. Matthew 22:30).  Sex is of no importance in the afterlife for the Christian, yet for Islam, it is obviously a big deal, not only in this life, but in the one to come.  There is something wrong there.

Folks, any system that denigrates women (or a certain group in society) is not a fair system at all.  Consequently, we can know that it is not a system of God.  I mentioned the Muslim who wrote me and pointed out that the KKK is a Christian group and they are filled with racism.

I took the time to correct him.  The KKK is not a Christian group at all.  While they certainly may believe themselves to be Christians, what they espouse and the life they live is anything but Christian.  I also pointed out that anyone can say they are Christians.  Many people who have eventually become atheists have claimed to be Christians.  The reality though is either they were and remain Christians, or they never were Christians to start.

If we define Christianity merely as a way of life, then yes, we can say that some of those Christians-turned-atheists were Christians.  However, that is not the way Jesus defines Christianity.  He said that a true Christian is someone who is born again or born from above (cf. John 3).  It is this spiritual transaction that makes someone an authentic Christian, not their mouth.

I can pretend to be a police officer.  I may dress the part, act the part, speak the part, and even carry a weapon and handcuffs like authentic police officers do.  I may even fool some people because of it and come to believe it myself!  However, I would not be an authentic police officer because I have never had the police training, never went to the academy, never took the tests, and never took the oath.  Moreover, I am not employed by any police agency.  However, someone looking at me who did not know these things would swear I was a police officer.  Not only would I not be a police officer, but if caught, I would be charged with of any number of felonies because I was impersonating an officer, carrying a weapon illegally and so on.

As a system, Islam enjoys lording it over women.  Women are seen as something that is less than.  Men are superior.  Women are to be used for the pleasure of men.  They can be raped, beaten, or even killed (in an “honor” killing) and all of this under Sharia Law is permissible.

If Islam has its way, this is part of the system that they want in place worldwide.  They believe it is the correct and only system that should exist.  It does not matter than there is a large gap between the value of men and any purported value of women.  Those of you who identify yourselves as “moderate” Muslims are only kidding yourself.  If/when Sharia Law becomes the law of the land, you will be the first ones to change your ways, adopting the more radical understanding of Islam.  You know that to not do so means death.

Please, take the time to do your own research on the Internet or elsewhere.  The facts are there concerning the upward climbing percentage of rapes and molestations in countries where the Islamic population has increased.  That’s fine if you do not believe me, so I would encourage you to try to prove me wrong.  If you cannot do it, or even if you think you can, if things are left to themselves, eventually you will see it for yourself.  I hope that never happens, but under the coming Antichrist, it seems all too clear that this will clearly be part of the system he sets up.
