Radical, Orthodox Jews Attack Christians in Israel

As a Christian who supports Israel’s right to exist, I believe from Scripture that I understand God’s intent with Israel as a nation. I also understand that radical Jews can be some of the most virulently opposed individuals to Christianity than anyone.
Often, radical Jews see Christianity as a usurper, a company of individuals who they believe oppose the God of the Bible. Certainly, they do not accept Jesus as Messiah, which is why the Scribes, Pharisees, and religious leaders of the time wanted Jesus dead. In fact, they demanded the death of Jesus Christ as he stood before Pontius Pilate. This is not to say that the blame for the death of Jesus should lay only at the feet of Jews. Gentiles also shared in His death via Pontius Pilate and the actual Roman soldiers who flogged Jesus and then nailed Him to the cross.
The point I’m making is that the Jews were angrily opposed to Jesus and it is not surprising that they would give evidence of the same type of opposition to Jesus’ followers.
There are many Christians who have been involved in evangelizing Jews in Israel for decades and that continues to some extent today. One such couple – Eddie and Lura Beckford – continues in their attempts to evangelize Jewish people of Israel as they have for numerous years. This is in spite of the fact that the opposition they consistently receive would cause most of us to give up in dismay.
Below is an e-mail I received today from Lura and it speaks to the continuing virulent attitude displayed by many orthodox Jews in Israel toward those who attempt to introduce them to the gospel of Jesus Christ. While it is sad to read of the techniques that these radicals will resort to using, it is also clear that God’s will is being completed. Lura’s narrative reads like parts of Acts, when orthodox Jews followed Paul from city to city, creating problems for him by lying, protesting, and generally being a pain in the rear.
Certainly, good things will come from it and it is important for Christians to continue to pray for the evangelistic efforts of the Beckfords as they continue to minister to the orthodox Jews who live in Israel.
As you read through her narrative, please pray for them, their efforts and that God will be glorified in all things. Pray for their continued strength, wisdom, and discernment.
The answer is NO; it was not God’s express will, BUT it is His permissive Will and He has gotten glory and given vindication for everyone who has suffered for the sake of His Name. It is no different today.
Today we were in court because a group of orthodox Jews tried to set up Eddie and one of them tried to steal Eddie’s camera out of his coat pocket. When Eddie defended himself and pushed the man away, they called the police and Eddie was arrested.

Now I want you to know, brothers, that what has happened to me has really served to advance the gospel. As a result, it has become clear throughout the whole palace guard and to everyone else that I am in chains for Christ.

The discrimination against Christians and Messianic Jews is shameful, but, Jews living in Israel need out support. I see this as a family affair, where all parties share much of the same Bible. We must learn to get along and the Beckfords obviously need more help.

I agree, Jacob. The nation of Israel DOES need our support.
