Got Freedom? Got Food?

March 30, 2011 at 11:52 AM

I just read a very interesting article by James Wesley called “Move to the Mountain States.”  This article, along with other articles forwarded to me by Ray Gano over at Prophezine.com, was very enlightening to say the least.

For quite some time, I’ve thought about picking my family up and relocating them to another state; one that is far more conservative in nature.  I fully agree with Wesley when he states, “Christians of all races are welcome to be my neighbors. I also welcome Orthodox Jews and Messianic Jews, because we share the same moral framework. In calamitous times, with a few exceptions, it will only be the God fearing that will continue to be law abiding.”

The only thing keeping me from uprooting and moving are the fact that my wife and I have jobs here.  Beyond that, our kids are here.  Over and above all of that, I would never make a move like this as much as I might want to do so, unless I had some sense that God wanted me to do so.

Right now, though both my wife and I have entertained the idea of relocating, it appears as though if that happens, it is down the road a ways.  Of course, one of the biggest obstacles to relocating (other than what I have already mentioned) is the fact that we do not know how quickly things are going to get worse.

I look to our elected officials and most seem intent on taking this country into the depths of financial oblivion through overspending.  Very few in Washington, DC, seem to get it that our country is nearly bankrupt.  We are running out of money.  It doesn’t help to simply print more of it because the gold that backs it up (gives it value) remains the same.  That means that the value of the dollar decreases.  Pretty soon, we’ll see people walking around with wheel barrows filled with cash and unable to buy a hamburger!

But this appears to be what many in DC want to occur.  They want to see this country go bankrupt.  They want to see a major run on food.  They want to see chaos in the streets.

Currently, Mr. Obama is doing his darndest to do another side run around Congress.  He wants to take guns away from private citizens.  If he can succeed, then how can anyone stand their ground against an illegal governmental takeover?

You know, what I just wrote sounds weird – even to me.  I never would have thought I would be thinking these things, much less stating them  at any point in my life.  Yet, here it is for all to see; all who do not either have their heads in the sand or are blind (same thing).

One of the largest problems the United States is going to face within the next 6 – 8 months is to see a shortage of food.  Does that not scare you?  If you like to eat, it probably should.

My wife is in Hawaii this week on business (yes, it’s really business), and I will be joining her tomorrow.  She told me that to go to McDonald’s and buy the same Quarter Pounder w/out Cheese Meal that I buy here will cost just under $9.00!  Here, in California, it costs just over $5.00.  I hate that, because I like quarter pounders, and I hate having to pay $9 for the same meal I get here for nearly $4 less!

I believe this is nothing to what we will begin seeing very soon.  For the past number of weeks, gas prices here hovered at $3.99 per gallon.  It was as if they gave us about a month or so to get used to it before they finally kicked the price over $4.  It didn’t simply go to $4 per gallon.  It went directly to $4.06 per gallon.  Do you think that’s the end?  I don’t.  I firmly believe we will see gas prices reaching toward the $10 per gallon mark before the year is out.  We will probably see them hit the $5 mark before the summer is out too.

Oh Fred, stop being such a loser!  Stop preaching scenarios that are all gloom and doom.  Okay, let’s go back to talking about the economy then.  Did you know that home prices are STILL going down?  They are, and interestingly enough I read an article yesterday called “Chaos is good for the home market.”  Really?  In what world is that true?

People can say I’m all doom and gloom, but all I’m doing is presenting facts and opinions from the experts.  We are seeing it happen.

Another article sent by Ray is called “Food Inflation Kept Hidden in Tinier Bags.”  You may have noticed this yourself.  The boxes for things like Ritz crackers, or Saltines have new boxes.  At first, they appear to be a better way to package them, but in reality, they are simply redefining the packaging so that it looks better, but holds less.  In my neck of the woods, they even managed to raise the price while selling less!  Nice.

If you have paid attention over the years, whenever food companies have wanted to raise prices, they have done it by using what magicians call a redirect.  They may redesign the box or packaging and call attention to that while actually giving less than before for the same or greater price.  This is nothing new and it is fact.

So what do we do?  Well, unless you have a farm, or a huge garden, and some cows and chickens, you are at the mercy of the corporate food growers and packaging plants.  However, you do not have to be.  Even if you do not have room for a garden, a cow, or several chickens, you can still do something about it.

My wife and I began adding extra items (duplicates) while grocery shopping.  These are basics, items that have a long shelf life.  We also take the time to buy water bottles whenever we can and store those as well.

We have also started growing a garden, which always helps, even though it’s not a huge garden.  If the weather cooperates, then we will have lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, and more soon.

The final thing we have begun doing is adding to our food supply by purchasing bulk food items from Shelf Reliance.  This company offers freeze-dried bulk foods that actually taste good!  Wow, can you believe it?

The problem is that people are starting to hear about this company and they are buying and buying.  Because of that, the company is slightly behind in filling orders, but they believe they will catch up soon.

So where does that leave you?  If you believe that everything I have told you is a joke, then you will do nothing out of the ordinary and wake up one day, head to your favorite grocery store and find that like Japan, there has been a run on food.  You slept through it and now you’re hungry.  Sure, you can eat out, but at what cost?  You can try to bum some food off the neighbors but how long can you do that?

You can also make plans to have food on hand when the bottom falls out…and it will (sorry if that’s negative, or gloom and doom, but the truth really has no agenda).  People were not expecting the Great Depression in the late 1920s.  They had no reason to suspect that it was in the wings.

Today, there are many signs that tell us something is going wrong.  These signs are telling us to prepare and those who do not will be left out in the cold.

I suggest that you at least take a look at Shelf Reliance foods.  Buy a sample or two of their products.  Try them out and see if you like them.  I cannot imagine you not liking them, but that’s me.  If you are interested, click on the banner, or the link below to find out more.

Do yourself and your family a huge favor and make sure they have ample food to eat in the coming months!
