Lady Gaga and Judas Song Angers Catholics

You know, this is unintentionally hilarious to me.  Consider this.  If Gaga had put out a song about Islam’s Muhammad, there would probably have been issued a fatwa against her by now. There would have been worldwide rioting, angry faces of Islamists, with clenched fists.  They would be carrying signs that said all kinds of nasty and hateful things.  They would have also been given a pass.

Who knows how many leaders (including Mr. Obama) would have come to the fore and asked Lady Gaga to do some damage control?  People would have begged her to do an about face in order to bring down the potential level of violence that may be sparked because of her song.

But instead, she has angered some people because of the song and the lyrics contained in it, and the people she has angered are in Christian circles.  Not to worry though, because Christians are pushovers, peons, and weak-kneed home-grown “terrorists.”  Who is really scared of a Bible thumping Christian anyway?

Probably a more important question is this:  who cares about what Lady Gaga produces, calling it music?  The truth of the matter is that individuals like Gaga have to do what they do because they want to sell CDs.  They want to exploit what is respected (as long as it hammers the right and not the left) so that they will remain on top and viable.  At the same time, it would not work to do something that might get you killed, like offending radical Muslims!  No, better to pick up on a group that is generally more peace-loving, so that’s what Gaga has done.

So essentially, Gaga is telling us how much she loves Judas and how he was likely extremely misunderstood, even by Jesus.  Good for Gaga.  Part of her lyrics make little sense, but what can you expect from someone who purports to be an “artist”?  The tragedy here is that part of her lyrics are a bit racy, implying that she wants to have sex with Judas.

Like many within the New Age, who see Satan as completely misunderstood and one who will ultimately be victorious over Jesus, Gaga apparently believes that whatever Judas did wrong is forgivable.  Had Judas taken the time to repent, confess, and ask Jesus to forgive him for the desperate deed he committed against the Lord of Life, He likely would have been forgiven.  But after three and a half years of walking with Jesus, Judas still understood so little about Jesus that he thought having Jesus arrested was going to force His (Jesus’) hand in overthrowing Rome.  He was wrong and instead of seeing that truth and repenting, he saw a bit of that truth and committed suicide.

But Gaga is glorifying Judas; his actions, as well as his person.  She loves him.  Should this shock me?  Should I become angry about this because I am an authentic Christian?  If I do, then I am somehow thinking that people who are not Christians should not act this way.  I feel badly for Gaga because what seems most important to her is selling another CD and in so doing, she resorts to shock value.  She’s not the first or last person to do that, but the clear tragedy here is that she is completely unaware that she is playing with fire.

There are so many recording artists, celebrities, and movie stars who play with fire all because the most important thing in the world to them is fame and the accoutrements that come from it.  Money, prestige, respect, clothes, huge homes, cars, travel – all of it – comes from selling yourself to the liberal left in Hollywood and that includes the recording industry since much of it is located there as well.

These people have made their choice and what they do not realize is that they will continue to have their fame as long as they play along the left’s party line.  Once they begin to try to move away from that, they will lose their appeal and others standing behind them will quickly be ushered in to fill the gap.

I doubt seriously that most of these “artists” truly understand what they are involved in and certainly are not aware of the fact that they are being used by the enemy to suck others into the same realm of deceit.  This is why it is so hard for a rich person to enter into heaven because they simply are unwilling to give up all that they have amassed (cf. Matthew 19).

Can you imagine having all that many celebs have today?  Houses, cars, prestige, people taking care of your ever desire, and much more, and then going without those things?  Who would want to go from wealthy to poor?  Many of these recording stars have worked hard to get out of their poor lifestyle of existence to gain exactly what they have now?  Though they are still not satisfied with what they have, they are certainly not willing to go back to having nothing, are they?

So as long as the left exists, there will be people like Lady Gaga who willingly give them what they want and in return, they are handsomely rewarded.  I have to say that I like how some have responded to the video, realizing it for what it is:

“President of the Catholic league referred to the video as a stunt, saying “People have real talent, and then there is Lady Gaga. I find Gaga to be increasingly irrelevant. Is this the only way to jet up her performance? This isn’t random, we are getting closer to Holy Week and Easter.”

I would have to agree.  Gaga is irrelevant.  I’ve always thought she was irrelevant, but the people who buy her CDs would certainly disagree with me, though for how long is anyone’s guess.

Today, it is not talent, but shock value that often catapults and keeps people on the top.  Marilyn Manson is another one.  He’s an Ayn Rand wannabe, who gives away the fact that he is nowhere near intelligent as he would like people to believe.  But he shocks people and that’s what people like.

Yawn.  I could care less and apart from praying for people like Lady Gaga, there seems little point in talking about her.  Her “talent,” such as it is, is nothing to write home about and once the left has no further need for her, she’ll be gone, replaced by someone younger, hungrier, and more willing to even more shocking than Gaga.

It just seems to me that people who resort to this kind of thing in an effort to sell CDs seem to be having their last gasp.  Hopefully, Gaga has made her millions and knows how to keep them.  Ultimately though, I pray that the Lord opens her eyes to her blindness so that she can see the truth and embrace it.

Maybe that’s why these things happen, not so that we Christians will go out and boycott her, but so that we will get down on our knees and pray for her salvation.
