Combating Intolerance via Hillary Clinton…and Ridiculing Christians on SNL

Interestingly enough, Hillary Clinton has helped draft a policy that was adopted this past April which will ultimately make it a crime to say anything negative about Islam.
The full content can be read here: http://www.unhcr.org/refworld/type,RESOLUTION,,,4db960f92,0.html
Basically, as the information states, the document is designed to “Combating intolerance, negative stereotyping and stigmatization of, and discrimination, incitement to violence, and violence against persons based on religion or belief.” [1]
That’s all well and good, but this is exactly how things began in places like Great Britain, which make it a crime to speak against Islam, even when what is being stated is the truth.
For instance, and I’ve stated this before, under such a law, if a Muslim took offense at the statement, “Muhammad married a nine-year old girl and in civilized countries that would be considered pedophilia,” then the person making the statement could be arrested for such a disclosure. The statement is true and may not necessarily be intended to be negative. However, the information by itself, is negative therefore the speaker is then connected with the negative information and held accountable.
Too many people in Great Britain have been thrown in jail for these types of infractions. One pastor, preaching on the street corner, simply repeated what the Bible says about homosexuality – that it is sinful. Because a police officer was nearby and happened to be a homosexual himself, the pastor was arrested and put in jail.
In another instance, two people who owned a bed and breakfast in the U.K. were arrested after a discussion with two Muslim men in which the non-Muslims commented that they did not see Muhammad as equal with Jesus, whom they believed to be God. They were both arrested after the Muslims complained to the police.
So now we have what we might call the thought police, or the speech police. If you think it, you’d better not say it or face possible jail time and/or fine. This is lunacy!
This past weekend SNL (Saturday Night Live) offered a skit in which one of the regulars played Tebow (the QB who prays before each game). Another cast member played Jesus who indicated to Tebow that he should “tone it down.” Jesus further explained that everything Mormons believe is 100% correct – every word.
I’m offended, but NBC has nothing to worry about because I have no plans to go berserk or become violent. I simply wrote them a letter explaining that I did not appreciate their denigration of my Lord and my God.
I also asked the folks at SNL when they would be doing a skit in which Muhammad was ridiculed? Of course they won’t because as far as Islam is concerned, you can’t even draw a picture of Muhammad. However, it’s interesting to note that there are plenty of art pieces depicting Muhammad from the Middle Ages. Apparently, it was fine then, but it has become verboten now.
Will SNL or anyone create a skit in which Muhammad comes down to have a chat with one of his followers? Won’t happen because of the reaction by Muslims everywhere.
It’s much easier and far more fun to ridicule the beliefs of Christians because for something like this, we don’t generally fight back with our fists or worse. Besides, who wants to walk around constantly looking over your shoulder if you were one of the actors of writers of a skit which portrayed Muhammad at all? Not fun, so forget Muslims since they can’t take a joke. Concentrate on Christians. They’re wimps. Pansies. Morons. With rare exceptions, they don’t fly off like the average Muslim does when it comes to Muhammad.
So can I complain to the UN that SNL has denigrated the very God I worship? Can I complain on the basis of the fact that SNL has broadcast “…intolerance, negative stereotyping and stigmatization of…” Jesus Christ, the individual who died for me after living a sinless life? Can I do that? If so, would the UN even care? I cannot imagine that they would care.
I think they will care greatly if they find people being intolerant toward Islam. I think they might try to react to protect Islam and Muslims in general.
Let’s face it, the U.N. couldn’t care less about Christians. In fact, for some people, it’s a good deal of fun to bash Christians simply because we are seen as effeminate wimps who would not be able to fight to regain respect even if we wanted to do so. That’s the way the world sees Christians in general.
The world sees Muslims in an entirely different light. To the world, the average Muslim is intolerant of everyone else and proves it daily with the way they engage in jihad with infidels. No one wants to push any Muslim “buttons” because that’s like cracking open a huge hornet’s nest. Why bother? It would be suicidal, unless of course you’re a masochist.
No, Christians are generally seen as people who are not supposed to get upset. We’re not supposed to have a harsh word. We’re not supposed to “judge” and we’re not supposed to get angry. This is all based on a misappropriation of Jesus’ own words in the Sermon on the Mount where He spoke of turning the other cheek and going the extra mile. Most people have absolutely no clue what those comments truly mean. They forget there is a very real context that opens up the meaning very clearly.
So the U.N. is trying to combat intolerance. Really? Huh, that’s interesting, especially considering the fact that it never seems to do anything with respect to Islam’s militancy, which seems perfectly acceptable to them.
In truth, I honestly don’t think most people know how to deal with jihadists and militant Islamists. You can’t reason with them. You can’t explain to them that what they are doing is morally wrong. They don’t care because they believe they have a “higher” moral standard, which is actually a much lower moral standard. Even animals don’t act like militant Islamists.
Most people would prefer to pretend that radical Muslims are best left alone. Then, they will “like us” if we leave them alone. You know what? Who takes that approach with the neighborhood bully? No one except a wimp.
So, the reality seems to be that while the world continues to ridicule and castigate Christians (you know, the bully against the perceived weaker individual), Islam gets a free pass because people think the situation will be made worse. And again, what bully will back down when met with that type of non-resistance? Good luck with that.
The U.N. is trying to get the United States to adopt what has been adopted in the U.K. and other countries. Guess what? It’s failing miserably there, but still the U.N. continues to push its position and Hillary Clinton seems heck bent on making it happen in the U.S. To what end?
I’ll tell you to what end. It will be used as a tool to lock up those in society who refuse to toe the line, who resist the belief that the government should be the gag around our mouths and the blindfold around our eyes. It will not work, but there are a lot of things in government that have not and do not work, but the government hasn’t given those things up either. They just pour more money into them.
It’s ironic, but when I taught grades four through six in public school, the students would constantly come running to the teachers complaining about so and so who called them a witch with a “b” or some other name. Then you have the individual who allegedly called that person a name tell us it was in retaliation for being called something by the first student. Of course, then you add to this the friends from each side both assuring us that they are telling the truth and the fault is really with the other person, and it becomes thoroughly asinine.
It would be nice if people did not ridicule or castigate other people, but it happens. Some are extremely proficient in it and show no sign of stopping.
Most of the time at school, as teachers all we could do was to say “avoid each other for the rest of the period.” They wouldn’t. Eye contact would be made and then it would be “teacher, he looked at me!” as if that was a federal crime. It really becomes so ridiculous that it is difficult to take things seriously.
Now though, we have organizations like the U.N. who want to legislate morality. Our government’s been trying to do that for generations. I’m not saying that laws should not be in place. I’m simply saying that when the government delves into the area of decided what people can and can’t say, then something is wrong. Yes, there is a problem with society, but history has shown that the government cannot correct that problem and usually wind up adding to it with their plethora of laws and rules.
All of this is to say that the world will not be perfect until Jesus Himself returns to correct it. I won’t get an apology from the people at Saturday Night Live (or NBC), Christians will continue to be fair game for anyone who wants to take a pot shot at us, and Muslims will continue to be catered to if for no other reason than the fact that no one wants them to become angry.
Welcome to “civilization,” 2012…

The resolution doesn’t mention anything about speech. It only talks about violence perpetrated by religious intolerance. We already follow all of this via our freedom of religion constitutional rights and the introduction of hate crimes.

And the problem is that by implication, what is SAID, can often be construed as “violent” or “hateful” therefore, I do not find it difficult to believe that “hate speech” would be considered under this resolution. Certainly, I could be wrong, but judging by what has happened in other countries, it is not a stretch to say that freedom of speech will be affected. This is – unfortunately – exactly what Islam hopes.

I live in Afghanistan, I am not muslim, and it is not what Islam hopes…These people just want to live their life like you and I. The biggest threat we have is the guys with the money, like the Muslim Brotherhood, who completely distort their religion and subjugate the people in the Islamic countries by paying them to do things they otherwise wouldn’t do, but are forced to because they have a family to feed. It is no different than our religious right trying to buy politicans in the US. I had more Muslims tell me Merry Christmas…well actually they would say, Happy Christmas Day, than I did Americans that I worked with here.

The problem is that it is not simply the Muslim Brotherhood. Islam has been at odds with itself for centuries. The Sunnis and the Shiites for example.
One group views the Qur’an allegorically for the most part, while the other views the Qur’an literally.
If people – especially Muslims who call themselves peaceful – do not stand up to groups like the Muslim Brotherhood, they WILL take over. It is everyone’s job to stand against the Muslim Brotherhood.

I have lived in Britain, and I can tell you stopping average people from saying what they really think doesn’t create a more tolerant society – pressure just builds and builds until it boils over as extremism. British Muslims are the most catered for by government policy and socially, and yet they are the least integrated. US Muslims are the least catered for by government and socially, and they are among the most integrated.
I agree re pandering to bullies. Remember when the Pope quoted that middle age writer that Islam is a tendency to violence. Muslims were so outraged that he dare say that what did they do… go on a violent rampage, including killing a bunch of nuns.
I have nothing personally against Muslims, the same as any religions, as long as they realise if they live in liberal democracies they have to put up with true freedom of speech. That includes the rights of others to say nasty things that you might not like and just lump it.
