Weight of Government Will Crush Us

Recently, we learned that Congress passed the bill that helps the U.S. avoid the fiscal cliff…for now. Tragically, for most Americans, we will see an increase in our taxes, which simply proves to me that promises politicians make when they are running for office are easily bypassed once they gain the office they seek. This seems to be true of all politicians regardless of party affiliation. It’s part of the political territory and most of us understand it as part and parcel of the politician’s modus operandi.
Mr. Obama said he would never raise taxes on those earning under $250,000 annually. Unfortunately, this turned out to be incorrect because once elected in 2008, he set about to create America’s first socialized medical program whereby everyone would be forced to purchase health care. Not purchasing it means payment of penalties, which the U.S. Supreme Court has labeled a “tax.”
With the passage of the Affordable Health Care Act, there are many built-in taxes that will affect my wallet and I make nowhere near $250,000 per year and those taxes will begin to take effect this year – 2013. More will kick in during 2014 as well.
With the latest goings on in Congress, the fiscal cliff has – for the most part – been (temporarily) avoided. However, I will personally also see more increases in taxation as will all of those within the Middle Class. This will come through the payroll tax as well as other areas. In one form or another, people making well under the $250,000 threshold will see taxes rise. It is simply a fact that cannot be denied, though the Left will continue to play word games as they attempt to deny it.
Most of what has been passed is merely a band-aid that offers no real permanent solutions at all. If Congress cannot get its act together and rein in their spending (including Mr. Obama’s spending), the United States will start to look more and more like Greece.
The problem with Greece is that people there have gotten so dependent upon entitlements from their government that they literally spent themselves into financial oblivion. When the government tried to cut back on things, the people took to the streets and rioted because they were not going to be able to continue to receive free stuff anymore. They didn’t like that idea and believed their government should continue to give them the hand outs they had become accustomed to receiving even though their government was (and is) running out of money.
Apparently, the average Greek citizen did not equate government spending with increasing taxation and since taxation was down (because fewer were working who had their hands out), the government was simply not able to continue to keep up with the demand. Cuts were attempted and rioting was the result.
It is likely that Greece will be kicked out of the EU later this year because of their inability to get things together. This could happen to the United States if Congress continues to do nothing. Who knows what our Congress will do, but it is likely that it will not be enough and it won’t happen soon enough. This is the problem of a government that has literally run amok through ever-increasing size.
The U.S. government has literally become a “beast” of its own making and “we the people” are powerless to stop it. Those within government show no real signs of leadership either. The Left wants to spend, spend, spend, and while the right seems to want to cut back on spending, there is no one who has really come forth to list specific ways in which this should be done.
But there are other things happening within our government of course, that will affect its ever-burgeoning size as well. As it continues to grow, more money will be needed.
For instance, with the recent Sandy Hook tragedy, more on Capitol Hill want greater gun control measures. This will cost money because any time the government gets involved in anything, more money is needed and that’s not even counting the waste that often takes place because of expanding programs.
With respect to gun control measures, the Left continues to push its agenda that believes fewer guns in society translates to less gun-related crime. The problem of course is whether or not guns can actually be reduced in society. Of course they can be removed from law-abiding citizens, but it is not the law-abiding citizen that creates the problems in the world. It is the criminal and somehow, some way, the criminal will always be able to get hold of a gun. It happens in England, it happens in Australia, and other places where guns have been confiscated. The gun problem is a problem because governments attempt (and too often, succeed) in removing guns from law-abiding citizens in society and tout that as a solution to the problem.
This is like taking cars away from people who are good drivers and have never had a ticket all because some people drink until they’re drunk, then drive their cars home, killing people on the way. Taking the car away from the person who never drinks and drives is about as stupid as taking guns away from law-abiding citizens, yet this is what the government wants to do. It’s all about control and our government wants to control us; in fact, they need to control us if they are going to bring their full plans to fruition. Oh, and by the way, in 2011, 12,000 people were killed by drunk drivers. Yet, I don’t hear of our government wanting to ban cars, do you? It would directly affect the profits of those who control the oil and some of those people are Americans like the Rockefellers and the Bushes. But guns? No worries. The need to outlaw them outweighs the profits made by them.
Because of this, more stringent requirements will go into effect, or at least the attempt will be there. It will solve nothing and the government knows this, but they will continue to attempt it because it makes them appear to care about the loss of innocent lives. In truth, if they were really concerned, they would do something about the terrible problems of murder that occur in areas of Chicago on a weekly basis. Blacks on blacks are killing one another. Where’s Jesse Jackson? How about Al Sharpton? Where’s Sheila Jackson-Lee? These people all jump on the bandwagon when a white person kills a black person as if they care so deeply about other members of their black race. The truth is seen when they continue to ignore the problem of black on black crime.
Chicago has the most stringent gun laws in the country, yet they have one of the highest murder rates going. They will argue that it is because guns are brought in from other areas of the country and sold on the black market. The actual truth – for anyone who cares – is that guns are available on any street in America because of all the guns that are routinely smuggled into this country from Mexico and elsewhere.
Prohibition outlawed the selling and distribution of alcohol. It was literally a national ban on alcohol throughout all corners of the United States from 1920 to 1933. That worked well, didn’t it? No, it actually make millionaires of people like Al Capone and even John F. Kennedy’s own father, Joe Kennedy, who “...did have extensive investments in the legal importation of spirits.” [1]
In fact, regarding Prohibition, the very ban itself “resulted in the growth of vast criminal organizations, including the modern American Mafia, and various other criminal cliques. Widespread disregard of the law also generated rampant corruption among politicians and within police forces.” [2]
In other words, Prohibition was a failure. It gave tremendous opportunity to the mafia and politicians and law-enforcement officials who were open to being bought off in exchange for becoming blind to what was happening under their noses.
The war on drugs has been an abysmal failure. We cannot keep drugs out of this country. We cannot stop meth labs from popping up in some of the most affluent neighborhoods in America. We cannot keep people from becoming addicted to drugs and then entering a life of theft in order to be able to pay for their illegal drug use. The government cannot help with this. All the government does is make it more expensive to obtain and at every turn, drug cartels are at least one to two steps ahead of every attempt to shut down drug importation.
Yet, in spite of these examples, we are to believe that by eventually eliminating guns from society, all will be well. Once again, our government fails to understand the reality of the situation. Their collective head is in the clouds. In 2011, “assault” and hunting rifles caused 323 murders. In the same year – 2011 – knives alone caused 1,694 murders. More interesting than this is the fact that in the very same year – 2011 – 496 people were murdered with hammers or clubs. Just to make it even more interesting, another fact is that at least twice as many people are murdered by someone simply using their hands, than any type of weapon. These are statistics from the FBI, folks. [3]
I don’t hear anyone in government talking about making it more difficult to buy a hammer, hands, or knife, do you? The problem is not the weapon used, but the depravity of the individual.
Even if our government is successful in eliminating guns from society, we know that criminals will continue to have them. From the above two examples, we know this will be true. Whatever the government makes illegal, those who exist outside the law will find a way to make a huge profit on it. This will be true of guns. Guns are very easy to make. It is not difficult to make a gun that shoots a shotgun shell, a 9mm, a .22 or whatever you want it to shoot. The parts to make such a weapon cost less than $15 at the local hardware store. Granted, it won’t be a “semi-automatic,” but it will shoot.
Anyone who knows the history of gangs in the United States knows what a “zip gun” is and how easily it is made. Gangs like the Mau Maus of NYC used these weapons in their turf wars. If guns are outlawed, just watch how ingenious people become about making their own weapons. In fact, I would not at all be surprised if there are plenty of people in the United States who illegally carry these types of weapons now. They are untraceable and are effective for personal defense. This doesn’t even take into account all the gangbangers who carry weapons they have purchased on the street for less than a few hundred dollars, far cheaper than the amount a law-abiding citizen pays now for legally purchasing a weapon.
But none of this matters to government because government wants to remove weapons, under the guise of being very concerned for public safety. Sorry, those who believe that also believe that the real intent of collecting income taxes was temporary, only for the duration of the war. Wakey, wakey.
But that’s not all our government wants to do. One legislature has decided that it would be great to abolish term limits for the presidency so that Mr. Obama could allegedly have a third term…or fourth, or fifth. [4] Not that it would make any real difference anyway since it appears to me that the globalists have controlled both parties for decades. They spend their time eliminating everyone they don’t want to have a chance at becoming president and then we get to vote for their choices. Seems fair, doesn’t it? Not really.
I just started reading another great book that is quite an eye-opener. It’s called Family of Secrets by Russ Baker. It’s about the Bush Dynasty and it goes into a great deal of detail. If you love the Bushes, you’ll want to avoid this book at all costs. If you don’t mind learning what appears to be the truth, then I invite you to read it, but be warned, as it’s nearly 600 pages of small print. It’s fascinating though. Is it all true? Well, the reality is that Baker includes so many names, dates, and detailed information, if it’s not true, I imagine he’s already dealing with lawsuits for defamation of character.
As government gets bigger and bigger, it swallows up the individual and the individual’s rights. Another book I just began reading is by Stephen Leston called The Bible in World History. He explains that this type of problem stems from the fact that people are forever trying to unite as one body. They do this because they simply do not want to submit to God as rightful Ruler. Instead, they want to show God that they do not need Him; that they can handle the problems of this world with their own “morality” and do not need God’s law or inner morality.
The truth of the matter is that this is simply Psalm 2 being expressed repeatedly by whatever world empire comes to the fore at the time. Instead of recognizing God’s rule, people try to circumvent God at all costs. Rather than being reconciled to God through submission to Him, people come together in an attempt to cast off His fetters or constraints (Psalm 2:3). Whenever this happens, government grows larger and larger and becomes more corrupt as it does so. The end result is that the very weight of that civilization’s government will crush it. This is what is happening to the United States as it is with other countries as well.
The only solution to the problem is Jesus Christ. Psalm 2 tells us that rulers must show discernment and instead of rebelling against God, they must bow to Him in submission. They will not and God will have no choice but to allow things to culminate in the final judgments found within the coming Tribulation period, capped off with His physical return. The rulers of this earth have left God with no other option.
However, you – as an individual – can still submit yourself to God and I urge you to do so before it is too late for you to change your mind.

Have you ever noticed that liberalism always creates the exact opposite of its stated intent?

Yes and in fact, I see liberalism as extremely narrow-minded, in spite of the use of the word “liberal” used to describe them. They are not liberal at all when it comes to Christianity or true morality.
