EPA Acting Like God in Obama’s Administration

The last smelter in the US to shut its production doors.

The last smelter in the US to shut its production doors.

We previously talked about the Clean Water Act of the EPA and how it is being used to place a stranglehold on landowners if they have any body of water on their land, even if that body of water was created by the landowner. This would apply to a man-made pond, for instance. Since it involves water, the EPA believes it owns it and has control over it. The goal appears to be to make life very difficult for individual landowners.

I recall reading about a man in Oregon a year or so ago who was arrested and/or fined because he used rain barrels to collect rain falling from the sky. Apparently, the EPA owns (or controls) the rainwater, therefore the man had no right to collect it.

The EPA has a very long reach and that reach stretches into many areas of America that ultimately affect this country and the quality of life of the people who live here. We know how hard the Obama administration’s EPA has been working to shut down coal mines/plants throughout the United States. The stated reason? Burning coal is bad for the air, we are told. We can do without pollution. Never mind that thousands of miners have lost their jobs or that a fairly reasonably priced commodity for heating is now gone. That doesn’t matter because to the earth worshipers (including the EPA), what’s of utmost importance is not using up the earth’s natural resources. People come last. Save an owl, save a deer, save the water, and save the bear. People? Meh, not so much.

Several states in the US have been trying to create laws that outlaw the use of lead in ammo. They say lead pollutes the land. The EPA has done one better by successfully closing the last smelter in the United States, according to journalist, David Bond. His article titled “Death at Doe Run” explains how the EPA “prodded by a St. Louis based environmental pressure group, decided in 2008 that its existing maximum for lead present in the air should be dropped 10 fold, from 1.5 micrograms of lead per cubic meter of air to 0.15 micrograms of lead in a cubic meter of air.”

What is interesting is that by closing the last smelter in the US, America does not close the last chapter on lead usage. According to Bond’s article, America continues to require 1.5 million tons of it every year. What will America do? Import it. It won’t be available to use in ammo, but it will still be required for use in many other things. “Lead is required in all those nice green solar cell and windmill generators, and in your computer and TV sets. More than 80 per cent of our domestic use of lead goes into starting batteries. Other uses include insulation, ceramics, casting metals, glass, and shielding from all manner of radiation. It ain’t going away unless we retreat back into the cave.”

Ostensibly, due to concerns about pollution, the EPA has closed down the last US smelter, which will require companies to import all lead used in products that require it. This will mean that the pollution caused by lead will still exist because lead will continue to be smelted, but just not in America. Of course, the real downside (besides loss of jobs) is the increase in prices of consumer goods that have lead in them.

This last smelter employed 270 people and provided the town in which the Doe Run plant sat roughly $1 million dollars in tax revenue annually. The EPA doesn’t care about that.

Ultimately, I believe that under direction of the Obama administration, the EPA is being used to turn America into a third world country. This is happening on many fronts.

By the way, all of these decisions by the EPA are based on questionable science. A few are speaking out about this “science.” The reality is that as Bridget Johnson indicated in an article I referred to previously, the Obama administration is using a good many smoke and mirrors to get things done while America is preoccupied with Obamacare. “While the country is immersed in Obamacare headlines and a congressional tussle over delays and mandates, the Obama administration is stealthily moving toward unprecedented control over private property under a massive expansion of the Environmental Protection Agency’s Clean Water Act authority.”

The more we are troubled by Obamacare, the less we are likely to focus on anything else. Meanwhile, with the emphasis on health insurance, the EPA can move surreptitiously to do what it can to take control of land, water, and lead while no one’s watching.

One thing the Obama administration does well has to do with its use of subterfuge. The system is overwhelmed by so many things at once that people do not know where to look. The media play along by only reporting on things that we are supposed to be distracted by in order that the real issues can move along virtually without notice.

Even during those times when it appears that Obama or people in his administration are literally caught red-handed, they continue on as if nothing has happened and Congress appears powerless to stop them. Again, the media does what it can to downplay things by over playing other things that have little to no importance at all.

There are so many issues that are out there today – Benghazi, Fast and Furious, EPA overreach, and many other things that are impeachable offenses – but it is impossible to focus on all of them. Please note, for all the talk about both Fast and Furious and Benghazi, nothing has happened. People have talked, they’ve threatened, they’ve gone to court and yet the wheels of justice are moving at a frustratingly slow pace.

In the midst of it, governmental agencies like the EPA move along like steam rollers until they are finally stopped in court (if then). The average person asks what can be done?

It appears that the EPA would not mind if the average American lived in caves and had to scrounge for food every day to survive. Of course, the bureaucrats will be fine, living high on the hog as they always do. What’s good for us is never good for them.

With the media siding with the Obama administration and the system being overwhelmed by politicians, we are left to wonder what it will take to regain some semblance of sanity with the federal government?

I wish I had the answer.

‘We the people’ need to take the power back and get rid of this ‘bad’ legislation and government that is destroying the nation. The people are being dumbed down to such an extent that they are too stupid, (with their head in the sand, or should I say watching their favourite sporting team on TV, a stubbie in one had and the remote in the other, waiting for their welfare cheque or food stamps, and believing a lying government loves them! Keep getting in their face Fred! Maybe some will wake up.
