Will You Succumb to the Coming Great Deception? Part Three

wolfIn our last entry in this series, we discussed the very real possibility that Satan has something planned by way of a deception that will also unveil (or reveal) his spiritual son, the Antichrist. This is based on 2 Thessalonians 2, where Paul speaks of the fact that when the Antichrist (man of lawlessness) is revealed, it will be accompanied by all manner of supernaturally evil signs and wonders (from Satan) along with a delusion provided by God Himself. If God is going to actually make it easier for people to fall for the deception, then it is clear that He wants it to happen for His purposes. Paul tells us that God does this so that those who have not loved the truth will be judged by their constant refusal to even acknowledge that truth.

We also mentioned last time that if we step back for a moment and consider what the events surrounding Antichrist’s revealing might be accompanies with, we might think in terms of a false Rapture, where it appears as though multitudes of people will have simply disappeared from the earth. Those left behind (including many churchgoers) will be left to deal with tremendous shock.

It could also be the type of reveal that appears to replicate what many will think of as the 2nd Coming of Jesus Himself! If a staged event like this were to occur, wouldn’t many within Christendom be taken for a ride? Too many people who attend church today rarely, if ever open their Bibles. These types of individuals have no clue what the Bible teaches about the end times that lead up to the actual return of Jesus. They believe it’s too confusing and they say it doesn’t matter anyway because God wants us to love others as ourselves. This is true, but He also wants us to love Him above all things. Doesn’t this mean that we regularly delve deeply into His Word so that we can understand what He wants us to know?

If He didn’t want us to know anything about the events that lead up to His return, why did He include it in Scripture? Why did Jesus spend time teaching His disciples about end time events? We can argue that it doesn’t matter, but since it is part of His Word, that argument falls flat.

If the Antichrist appeared to be Jesus in the 2nd Coming and that event (though staged as it would be) was accompanied with supernaturally counterfeit signs and wonders and the delusion that God will send, who will not be taken in by that? The only people who won’t are those who make up the true Church, Christ’s Bride.

If someone who was supposed to be Jesus “returned” today with fanfare, signs, wonders, and a strong delusion, would I be taken in by it? By God’s grace, NO! While I don’t know everything about His Word (and have a long way to go), I know at least some of the events that are destined to happen before the real Jesus returns. All I would need to do is compare the staged event with the reality of the Bible to know whether or not what I see happening is the real McCoy.

There will be many, many people who will be mistaken and deceived at this future revealing of the Antichrist. They will find him attractive, loving, and he will seem to do the things that the Bible says Jesus will do. Too many people will not be able to counteract what they see because it will create within them the experience that makes them believe what they’re seeing is true, authentic.

We need to remember Paul’s words in 2 Thessalonians 2:1-12 –

Now we request you, brethren, with regard to the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our gathering together to Him, 2 that you not be quickly shaken from your composure or be disturbed either by a spirit or a message or a letter as if from us, to the effect that the day of the Lord has come. 3 Let no one in any way deceive you, for it will not come unless the apostasy comes first, and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the son of destruction, 4 who opposes and exalts himself above every so-called god or object of worship, so that he takes his seat in the temple of God, displaying himself as being God. 5 Do you not remember that while I was still with you, I was telling you these things? 6 And you know what restrains him now, so that in his time he will be revealed. 7 For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only he who now restrains will do so until he is taken out of the way. 8 Then that lawless one will be revealed whom the Lord will slay with the breath of His mouth and bring to an end by the appearance of His coming; 9 that is, the one whose coming is in accord with the activity of Satan, with all power and signs and false wonders, 10 and with all the deception of wickedness for those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth so as to be saved. 11 For this reason God will send upon them a deluding influence so that they will believe what is false, 12 in order that they all may be judged who did not believe the truth, but took pleasure in wickedness.

Note specifically the bolded section. Paul assures us that the revealing of the man of lawlessness will occur accompanied by “all power and signs and false wonders.” It will also include “all the deception of wickedness for those who perish.” Paul also states that God Himself will send them “a deluding influence” enabling them to believe the lie.

The people who will be deceived are those who:

  • don’t love the truth that leads to salvation
  • and will be judged because they failed to believe that truth
  • take pleasure in wickedness (which includes rejecting truth that leads to salvation)

Is that YOU? Only you know for sure if you are in that category or not. The only remedy is to believe and embrace that truth and prove it by devoting yourself to God from here on out. If you do that, God will embrace you and He will guide you into the full story of truth that is revealed in His Word.

This is what saves people from the coming deception. This is what keeps our hearts and minds pure, because we look to the Author of truth because He cannot lie.

The coming deception is going to be without equal. It will deceive, but you don’t need to be one of them. Wake up! Ask God to open your eyes to the Truth of salvation.

Remember when I called your attention to that image of “Jesus” you had inserted in one of your posts? Well, I recently read a post about people being deceived by this Anti-Christ because he will look like the image that is so well known these days-that long-haired hippy white European guy. Even when I see such images I think, “Jesus.” I ask God’s forgiveness for this when it happens-hard to remove it from my mind! How easy it will be for the most ignorant spiritual person to believe! Isn’t it interesting that those mentally unstable people who say they are Jesus tend to look like a version of those images?

Those images you refer to are interesting. Not only are they often showing an effeminate Jesus, but his fingers of at least one hand are displayed in an occult symbol.
