Lying for Gain and Control
Lying is done for a variety of reasons. It may be done to control others, to protect self-interests or for self-preservation or self-promotion. People who lie do so because there is something in it for them. That’s really the bottom line.
Always Trying to Cancel God
The prophet Micah was rebuffed and rebuked for daring to tell the people what God wanted him to tell them, but what the people preferred not to hear. The kings, priests and average Israelite tried their best to “cancel” Micah because of his message. They pushed back by demanding that he stop telling them what he was telling them. In essence, they were ultimately trying to cancel God.
Artificially Constructed
Jesus specifically warned that deceivers would come. Paul echoed that sentiment as did Peter, John and other New Testament writers. It’s a very important subject and one that needs our constant attention, yet we often ignore the possibility that we can be deceived. All of this growing deception will ultimately lead to the entrance and acceptance of the coming man of sin or Antichrist; that one final satanically-infused individual who will lead much of the world astray and that’s what Jesus’ main point to His disciples was all about. That is why He warned them to “take heed” or “be totally alert” and even to watch for it to happen. Be aware that it will happen so be on guard. Are preparations in the works now?
Consider Your Ways!
Christian, is your house in order? Are you focused on God, not the issues of this world? Sure, feel free to notice what is going on but do so through the lens of Scripture. God wants our hearts. He wants us to worship and adore Him, to give Him thanks for everything that comes our way. Are you doing this? If not, please repent of that and get right with God.
Micromanaging Mayberry
There are numerous dictators highlighted in Scripture that evidence so much evil, corruption and a desire to control that they stand out as types for the coming Antichrist. One such individual is Antiochus Epiphanes IV. We actually read about this unnamed historical figure several places in the book of Daniel, but it is far more pronounced in Daniel 11:1-35. Here, Antiochus Ephiphanes didn’t seem to care about money, but gathered it for use as a tool. He’d bribe people with it and got folks to do his bidding. Beyond this, he could flatter the clothes off your back with his words and demeanor. He had a habit of coming alongside of someone, taking them into his confidence and making them feel extremely important and needed. Once he had gained their respect and admiration, he thought nothing of throwing them under the bus.
Deceivers Deceiving
Scripture tells us deception has always been alive and well. It first began in the Garden of Eden with Satan working through the compliant form of the serpent, who plied Eve with lies she believed (Genesis 3). It should not come as a surprise that since that time, Satan has been using deception in all forms to bring about his agenda. This is especially true in these last days or end times. All manner of deception is wreaking havoc on global society within Christendom, the political and business arena and even within the medical field. Is it the Christian’s job to change this (I’m not convinced we can), or to simply continue trying to evangelize the lost?
Don’t Forget the IF…
It seems clear enough as far as God is concerned, that the Israelites did things outwardly to appear holy and righteous while they actually called into contempt man and God. They fasted, but they completely ignored the heavy burdens that some Israelites were carrying. Some Israelites were forced to beg and no other Israelites would come to their aid, ignoring them.
Is America Under Judgment?
What should also be noted is that Jones’ message is comforting for the believer. For those who faithfully seek Him, He rewards with blessing after blessing even in difficult times. It’s something that we should be staunchly aware of because our active, ongoing relationship with God in Christ matters in many ways. We grow to spiritual maturity, God uses us to spread His Word and comfort to those who are frail in faith. This cannot happen if we are preoccupied with our own affairs, worry, doubt, and frustration about what we see in society.
Trust the Lord and Do Good
So what is the antidote for authentic Christians as we increasingly find ourselves dealing with people who have reprobate minds? There is really only one antidote and it is found in Scripture. In fact, it is found throughout Scripture.
Death of Human Conscience?
So according to Harari, people are duty bound to do whatever it takes to invest in and embrace any and all technology that will modify our bodies with implantable technology, all of it leading to a new “consciousness.” Exactly what is this new “consciousness” that the author speaks of here that will “modify, transform and enhance” our bodies? Do Technocrats want us to live longer? I doubt that’s their concern. If it was, abortion certainly would be opposed by them. Reading between the lines, it seems clear that the goal, whether direct or indirect, is to simply eliminate God from our thinking and life itself.
